the host JT was excellent telling us about hiking trails we should take. And events that were happening. We would definitely go back

Great bike trails from this location, across the dam and along both sides of the river.

We enjoyed our stay at this campground, which we have stayed several times. The campground is very clean and their shower/bathroom is very clean. The host & hostess were very kind and helpful.

This is a very nice and quiet campground. Very walkable on Carlyle Lake. The biggest negative are the bugs in the bathroom & our campsite 24 wasn't picked up well. The latter I blame more on the campers than the park personnel, but still it should be checked after each person leaves. I realize they are attracted & while I was there the daily cleaners came and all the dead bugs disappeared. I do think they shouldn't drape the shower curtains back because they hold moisture and when I released mine to show a bunch of bugs came flying out. Overall, we had a great stay at this campground and enjoy all 4 USACOE parks at Carlyle. They are well maintained. PEOPLE>>>>QUIT THROWING YOUR BUTTS ON THE GROUND! WHERE DO YOU THINK IT GOES???

Another year at Dam East, one of about 30 or more. We were so happy to get to know Mel and JT this year! They are incrediable Camp Hosts and always willing to go above and beyond to make everyone's stay the best it can be!!! Several times throughout our week long stay they checked in with us to be sure we didn't need anything. The grounds were very well kept and clean, even the playground equipment was clean! It was really nice to see the pine trees planted a couple of years ago doing so well. Thank you so much to the Corp, cleaning crews and Mel & JT for making this another amazing year! We're already planning an early visit next year and haven't even unpacked and inventoried yet.

We absolutely love camping at Damn East. It is always trash free, clean, and the campers are always very welcoming. Wish they had alittle nicer playground for the kiddo's, but that is very very low on a list of importance. Thanks for keeping it a great place to camp.

The site overall is ok, a little tight to back into, we own a 37 ft fifth wheel. My main complaint is the trees need to be trimmed if you have a taller camper (like I do) the overhead tree limbs WILL most likely damage your roof. I have a vent that is cracked and two long drag marks on my roof membrane, luckily just marks not tears. The website photos need to be updated ASAP.

Overall campground is nice and clean! Camp host was very friendly. Our only issue was with the lawn workers, they barreled through our campsite with no warning while our dog was on her tie out. After asking them to come back later (they had thrown grass and dirt on us at this point) another man had come barreling through our campsite once again. At this point our campsite had been mowed and both workers had no respect for us whatsoever. Very rude, the owner of the lawn company came to apologize and offer assistance2 park rangers came out and did absolutely nothing. When asked about park rules and guidelines all they could say was well they have a job to do. The issue here is them disturbing our paid for site, proceeding to put a hole in our tent and absolutely nothing has been done. We have called twice and spoken with at least 5 people. Would have recommended a stay here but as of yesterday, camp with the risk of it being ruined and things damaged.

Dam East Mcnair is a great campground. It's smaller and therefore quieter than Dam West, which we appreciated.There is a small beach for swimming and we witnessed several folks headed to the lake with their fishing gear. Campsites are shaded and far enough from others to provide some privacy while you would still be able to interact with others if you wanted.

We had site #2 at Dam South. You'll need an extra long hose for the water hookup as you share the water with site #3. I think I used 3-25' hoses. Be sure to have a "y" connector in case site #3 doesn't have one. The site was awesome. Just a few steps to the bathhouse/restrooms and our starlink worked well with a little adjusting. The site was almost level, just needed to add one block to get it perfect. It was very convenient to walk down to the lake. The site is the closest one to the dump station which is also convenient. We would definitely do this site again.

Beautiful clean campground with lots of shade. Spots were not too close to each other and easy to park. Still definitely come back.

Park is great. We like camping there but this time there was a camper with dogs that were tied out while owners were gone and they barked for hours. It was terrible. Worst camping time we have had. I feel this is something the camp host should be able to address. Especially how it impacts all the other campers.

Very nice RV campground with spacious, mostly level, paved campsites, which were clean and well maintained. Bicycle paths are everywhere. Water and electric were good, cell coverage adequate, some TV stations available. Only problem we had was with tiny black bugs that swarm and fly into your eyes, nose and mouth. The camp host, JT, was friendly and gave us some helpful camping suggestions. I look forward to our next visit.

Park was clean. Camp host was friendly. Bathrooms and showers were clean. Very quiet. Had no problems getting into site 18. Has swimming beach within walking distance. Fishing docks close by. Has fishing below the dam near by. Gnats were annoying during the day. I will be back.

The grass was very high, so it was very buggy. There were cigarette butts all around our firepit when we arrived. The site is nice and secluded, and close to the water and dam.
@LorieO77ECE0E8 · Camped on May 3, 2024 at Campsite #31
Site was shady and had a lot of space. It is close to bathrooms. Bathrooms were well maintained. Only complaint is the gnats! They were unbearable. Had to sit inside more than I would have liked because the gnats were so bad.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
