This is a beautiful campground located right on the St. Joe river. The sites are spacious and well spaced-out. The campground hosts were very friendly and did a great job keeping the bathrooms clean and emptying the trash cans that were conveniently located throughout the grounds. The nearby highway is a little noisy at night, with logging trucks passing by. We ventured up to the town of Avery, perhaps 15 miles up the road, where the fly shop had excellent sandwiches and ice cream for lunch, in addition to good fishing advice. We are already planning a return trip!

I would like to say the campground is beautiful, same with the location and its very well kept. With that being its not a place for families with older kids or larger dogs. The whole campground was dark and completely quiet before 8pm. The river if full of people fly fishing so the dogs and the kids couldnt play or float in the river. The camp host was extremely rude to my husband and berated him about our dog not being on a leash walking down to the river. He didnt even give my husband a chance to go to the truck to truck to the leash just came back and told my husband he was taking too long and how we are disrespecting the camp rules. We ended up leaving right after. We will definitely not camp there again.

Wonderful campground on an amazing river. Camp hosts/staff do a great job keeping it a great place to camp!

We loved this place. Even though it's on the highway and can get a bit noisy, if you have a spot on the river you don't notice it much. We had everything we love in a site: shade, privacy, and water access. We will be back!

The pit toilet was sub par and pretty dirty. WiFi signal was too weak to connect anywhere in the campground. The whole side of our van was also keyed during our first night. We chose to move on to better accomodations and eat the cost of our second night.

The river is beautiful and most of the campsites on the side next to the river have a path to the water. Most campsites have a nice grassy area and the back-in sites have a nice buffer of trees between sites that provide privacy and some noise reduction. If you have a pull-through site or are next to the highway, you won't have much privacy. There is considerable noise from the highway - the logging trucks start coming down the hill around 3am and use their jacob brakes right next to the campground. Bring earplugs!The upgrades done in 2023 are not obvious - new electrical panels are the only clue. There is still just one Wifi hotspot across from the camp host. It was nice to have our own water faucet, but it could not be hooked up to our camper because the threads were filed off of the faucet.

Your camp hosts are some of the nicest people I have ever met. They helped people around the camp and were always friendly. Great people

Beautiful site right on the river. Easy access, water and electric hookups as well as wi-fi accessible. Only planned on one day, but stayed a 2nd night. We plan on coming back.

The current Campground Host is Second to None! They take Exceptional Care of the campground as well as the needs of whatever campers may require. This is not an easy task sometimes, but they do a fantastic job. This alone can change the quality of the camping trip. Many sites we have camped at, the experience is less than desirable due to lack of attention by the local host. We go camping and seem to pay higher Fees every year and many locations have lost interest in maintaining a clean and inviting environment. Bottom line... The Host, sometimes if not Always is what campers see as the folks we are dealing with! The site was in good shape and well cared for!

Huckleberry Campground was exceptionally clean and well maintained. Sites were large enough for some privacy. Access to the St. Joe River was good. Two disappointments: no showers, and almost no shade. Since temperatures went into the 100's, we timed our arrival late in the evening and left early to escape the sun.

It's was a bad campground for tents. If you had an RV or some sort of indoor glamping setup it might not have been bad. The only plus was running water, power, a decent parkway and a picnic table. My site was in the direct path of headlights from the highway. At 3am, constant logging trucks and dump trucks started screaming down the road every 15 minutes. I was unable to sleep at all the entire night. The only waterfront access was a boat ramp or a small path that led directly to the water with no beach of any kind.

We have been enjoying this special place for over 30 years. But last stay was awful in terms of how the hosts treated us. We had a 20 ft trailer for husband and I and son had a tent camper on his truck. We hooked trailer up to water and electrical. Son had no water hook up and has no toilet in tent camper. He has medical issue and needs electrical connection at night for machine so he connected to our trailer on first night.. We had one tent for widow who camped with us (total of 4 people) and drift boat on trailer pulled to outside of our parking area. Host said we were not abiding by the "rules" (one RV and one tent per site). Yet we saw 3 other sites with 2-4 tents, one site with 5 ATV's parked on grass, etc, Signage in (Immaculate) outhouses says NO glass containers on beach, yet the host and his guest were at water's edge with bottles of beer on July 3rd. It seems the hosts impose exert authority with some guests and are more accommodating with others.Host said they would throw us out if we reserve one site for the 3 of us (trailer and tent camper)... we were told we have to reserve 2 sites.

Liked our site. Plenty of room and the grass had recently. been cut. Have enjoyed staying there off and on for last 4-5 years.

Been going to Huck for years; ALWAYS 5 stars, til this time. After having suffered elect damage from its New electrical system installed last summer, we now have a new RV Circuit Analyzer to assess the plug in BEFORE plugging in, New Batteries and a serviced Converter. Do Not trust the power box; bring an analyzer so your after camp days wont be spent in camper and battery service/replacement. All else about Huck remains Stellar!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
