One of my favorite early spring and fall camp trips. Quiet. Usually clean and well kept. This is not a full service campground so the campers are much better prepared to camp lots of remote hiking, biking.

Beautiful forest, beautiful dunes, beautiful camping ground and beautiful beach! If you are thinking about it... go! You won't want to leave! We did 3 nights of camping (5 days) and cried all the way home because we wanted to extend our stay. It was our first time ever camping and we chose to do it here. Btw the couple managing the camp ground at oak loop are incredible humans and so welcoming! We came all the way from redford Michigan. It was a long 4 1/2 hour drive but soooo worth it. We will be back!

Lovely campground, quiet with large sites. Nearby hiking trails are awesome.

One of the best kept secrets on the Lake Michigan coastline.

I would suggest that if you are able to drive in and see if one of the first come first serve sites are available to do so. We made a reservation, and the camp site was backward to our camper (we should have noticed that from the picture). We moved to a FCFS site and it was wonderful. Bring hiking gear because the tails are wonderful into Northouse Dunes. Very limited cell service so plan to have to walk to the beech to get it. We found better connections on the foredune.

Campground staff were excellent! Pretty quiet during quiet hours. Only complaint would noise during the day from people with generators.

Bathroom across from our site had a defective door. Had to leave it propped open or else you couldnt get in.

Way to many mosquitos and spiders.Sites were backwards on one side and the tables were way to far from the spaces.

Bathrooms clean, sites nice and beautiful beach. Getting around a little confusing at first until we figured out the lay of the land and signs. Our cell phones didnt get signal, which was good and badhaha! We will be back!

Liked our campsite. LOTS of mosquitoesmore than we have ever had at this park. Our stay was peaceful; we did not witness any campsite fights this time. No cell reception unless you climb the steps near group camp area.

Great location. Campsites give you enough space to spread out comfortably and keep some space between you and your neighbors.

The perfect location! Quiet campground with paved roads and sites. Lots of trails to hike, but beware north trails are poorly marked.

Such a great campground. Spacious sites on a paved road adjacent to a 3,700 acre Wilderness area. Spent 2 nites here.

We absolutely love this campground! The spaces are huge, the facilities are well taken care of, and everyone is so friendly. The kids love that they can explore on their own, and I love that it is safe enough to let them do it!

@JulieM1485661 · Camped on Sep 15, 2023 at Campsite #39
No bugs in mid September and well spaced out sites. With limited facilities (no shower or water filling station, just a spigot), it's a bit over priced.
@BruceH752BB5C9 · Camped on Aug 13, 2023 at Campsite #61
the area was very beautiful I was disappointed that there wasn't a ranger or station in the park area no maps were available if you were new to the area you wouldn't have a clue where to go or how to get there only found things of interest only because we went exploring also there is no enforcement of the rules we had a group that was loud and rude also had a camper that aloud there children to scream and play well into 11:00 pm at night me and my wife go up there for piece and quite not to here kids scream and people party other then that we enjoyed the area the park was beautiful . We are older it would be nice if there was a better way to the beach the extreme climbing in the sand and the inclines are a problem for us at are age all in all very nice . more enforcement of the rules more maps and a ranger station is needed in this park I have camped at DH day for many years and they have rangers maps and signs very informative area this is something needed at this park ! I would return here but it would have to be at one of the isolated sites in the woods, we lost a couple of days trying to find things and learning the area buy the end of the week we were finding things we didn't know was even there or available !

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
