We stayed there about a month ago and found the bathrooms were despicable, nasty and smelled horrid. We decided to give it one more time at Hilltop and this time the bathrooms were a little better, although one was okay and one was very unclean. If your going to have a nice campground like this, you better start paying more attention to the bathrooms so people want to come back. There is nothing worse than bathrooms with feces on the toilet, on the floor, stinky and fly infested. Please take our advice and know we just want to see it improved, because we love it up there and the campground is one of the nicest on the mountain. Thank you for taking our consideration. HIlltop is a great place to escape the heat of Las Vegas and just sit and soak in the views. There are also lots of different trails for hiking or for mountain biking in the area. I love making this a stop when traveling through the vegas area. Note there arent any flush toilets, just pit toilets. Also there is no water available so make sure you pack what you'll need.

I was a site 3 which is located across from campground host, the host was in an RV with generator constantly running which was annoying. Also, all the bathrooms were infested with flies. I had to take my daughter down the road to the closest hotel.

I really enjoy this campground, and this in particular was a nice spot. Camp hosts are super people-helpful and friendly!

Great spot. We were happy to get away from the heat, although it was in the high 80's, I'll take that over 118 any day. Camp site #9 was awesome, plenty of room for 6 people and two dogs. Hiking trails were easy to follow and offered spectacular views of the mountains. One suggestion, clean the bathrooms and more often. We can't wait to go back!

I selected site 21, based on website photos. Space looked larger. Many tight turns. Campground is not suitable for larger rigs. Went to get away from fireworks for 4th of July 2024. Our pup freaks with the noise at home. Our toy hauler fit lengthwise, 34 with the rear door opened to a patio, but parking our truck was sketchy. 3 tires on ground, rear right was half on and off the ground. Many steps down to picnic table and fire pit. Weve camped at McWilliams Campground in Lee Canyon with the same views and terrain, but never had the following issue. When taking our dog for a long or short walk, her feet were dirty, black as coal, just from walking on the road. Dog wipes didnt clean them. Put her in the sink and sprayed Simple Green on the paws. 3 walks per day. Recommend dog booties. Views were great. Buggy the first two of the four days. Morning and evening temps were cool. High 90s in the afternoons. No hookups, no water. Tent pad on site. Very nice camp hosts.

All campsites have just been redone and each have a fire pit, charcoal BBQ and a level area for your tent. The temp in Las Vegas was 110 and it was in the 70as up at the campsite with a breeze. The views and weather are great up there in June.

The new campground hosts have their own set of rules for this campground. Although there are signs posted throughout the campground that Picking is not allowed these hosts will choose who can use a campsite for free for the day. Hilltop was better ran by the campers who use it regularly.

Had a decent time. It doesnt seem like the area was cleaned up by previous occupants nor the facility people. Lots of bugs, way more than expected during this time of year. I guess some sections of Mt C are worse than others. Very chilly at nice. Location didnt have any views however behind camp site was a walking trail.

Very quiet and secluded. Lots of shade except mid afternoon. Close to bathroom.

When we arrived at our reserved campsite some one else was in our spot. They had a payment receipt and it did not appear to have been a reserve sign on the site. We went to talk to camp host but there wasn't one. Field office was closed and calling recreation.gov put us on a 30 minute wait to talk to someone. We ended up just driving home and we still haven't received a refund.

Very pleasant place to camp, perched on a ridge with trees around and some views so it doesn't feel closed-in. No water, though, and the pit toilets are pretty smelly, with lots of buzzing flies. We stayed mid week when there were not a lot of other campers but if the campground had been full it could have felt a bit crowded as you don't have a great deal of privacy from other camps. If you are pulling a little camp trailer (as we were) then select your site carefully so there's room for it on a level spot. Many sites are mainly for those who carry their tent up stairs to a tent pad. Tent campers have lots of good choices. There are some good "double" spot for larger families.

It was our first time camping up there for a night and picked this camp site. Weather was nice but under the sun was a bit warm so it was nice that the tent pad area was shaded with trees. Didnt have the best views but still was a lovely spot. Planning to come up again in the future!

The smell and flies coming from the toilets are unbearable and the spots arent very secluded but the workers were friendly
@NicoleC4478336 · Camped on Jul 7, 2023 at Campsite #Standard S&P
Site 25 was in a great area with decent shade around tent pad. Make sure to use stakes and tie downs as random strong winds would have blown our items away.

Beautiful views, but full of wasps that we ended our trip early as it was too much to manage. As a first-timer camping in Mt. Charleston, I recommend bringing a canopy.

The entire camping loop at hilltop was amazing! Site 33 is by far one of the best sites for privacy. Hilltop isn't far from the lodge and is even closer to the robbers roost trail. I will definitely be planning more trips in the future.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
