Large sites, short walk to beautiful beaches.

Good campsite and great beach. Nice campground hosts as well. The highway noise, especially the rumble strips, were a big detraction however.

Campground is between beach and busy highway. Traffic noise is deafening.One star for nice beach, although water was a cold algae soup.

The facilities and the park were clean and well kept. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

Natural beauty abounds overlooking Lake Michigan. Site 14 is perfect for experiencing privacy while enjoying some solitude with a view of the lake. Sip your morning coffee watching the cormorants fish for their breakfast or an evening cocktail at sunset from a chair perched on your own little bluff. With just a small dune to the beach where you can swim and appreciate low people traffic. Some road noise can be heard from Highway 2 at the campsite, but quiets at night for a peaceful sleep. You hear very little noise from others camping here.

The only negative was highway noise, but that can't be changed. The lake access was wonderful. strolling along the beach was a highlight of our brief stay.

We struggled to stake our tent on the gravel site. From looking at the map we were to be on the beach, but there was a huge dune between us and the water. That's ok, but could have been portrayed better. The campground runs parallel with highway 2, so is not quiet. The hosts were kind, there were plenty of trees to attach dogs and hammocks, the beach was lovely and the outhouses were clean.

I have been camping here since I was 2. I am 45 now, and I still live it like it was my first time

We had a two night reservation and a sign on the post that our site5 was reserved. We left for a few hours and when we returned, our reserved sign had been stolen and our, still wrapped, bundle of wood. It was obvious we were coming back but someone took our stuff anyway. Would not recommend this place. Dont LEAVE ANY STUFF, even if you leave for a while.

Friendly hosts, clean facilities, wonderful beach. Traffic noise from US 2.

Great stop, exactly or more than we thought it would be. Just a one night stay, but we would definitely stop there again and could see staying longer in different circumstances. It was nice to be able to go up for the dune and down to the beach with a nice sunset view right from the campsite. Nice place. A little road noise, but not problematic.

The campground is fantastic! Bathrooms are clean, sites are private and beautiful. Unfortunately (which is completely out of control of the forest service) is the constant highway noise. If Lake Michigan was more riles up it could have drowned out some of the highway.

We camp in a Camper Van class B, we paid for 3 nights, after the first night we decided to take a day trip to the Falls, when we got back to our campsite the Hosts gave our campsite to someone else!They said they thought we left and wasnt coming back, we found another campsite but it wasnt in the water and was next to expressway! Host did comp for 2 nights

The hosts, Ron and Val are the greatest! The facilities and sites are kept pristine and they take great pride in keeping them so. They're friendly and helpful. The only potential issue is road noise from US-2 which is busy pretty much all day. My site 1 was level and fire ring and picnic table were close by, unlike some of the other sites that were multilevel, some with numerous stairs to get from campsite to table/fire ring.

Great beach access, campsite was in excellent condition and very well maintained, camp hosts were very friendly, secluded site.
@RobertK4087757 · Camped on Sep 21, 2023 at Campsite #30
The camp host was wonderful! When we arrived, the campsite we had reserved was not a campsite for a trailer at all. He was so helpful at getting us into a suitable site! The campground itself was beautiful. Most sites had decent privacy.Only negative was road noise from the highway. It lessened by bedtime but was still there during the time around the campfire.

Great campground! Easy access to Lake Michigan beach from the lakeside sites. Pit toliets and no showers, but a great campground. Firewood available at gas station 2 or 3 miles west on US Hwy 2.

Great Location!! A little US 2 road noise but not overwhelming. Short bike ride to the North Country Trail up by Brevort Lake, And an easy walk to access Lake Michigan.

Fabulous site with a private path to sandy Lake Michigan beaches. Only drawback is the proximity of Highway 2, but that was manageable.

Beautiful campground, great location. There is road noise but you don't notice it when you're on the beach. Camp hosts very friendly and helpful.
@TimF3815900 · Camped on Sep 4, 2023 at Campsite #11
Great campground for a short stay. Sites are set among trees, with privacy between sites. Those along the lakeshore provide direct access to a private beach. Yes, there is road noise, but it isnt bothersome for a short stay because the campground itself is so nice. I would happily stay here again.

Beach is nice. Clean. Hosts where great

Nice campsites between a hill next to Rte 2 and a dune next to Lake Michigan. Everything was great except the fire rings are ridiculous. About 3. Ft high with no vent holes. So even though a fire would have been nice. I didnt bother since we wouldnt have been able to feel any heat or see much of the fire. I do understand the need to prevent wildfires and that a very few people would build too large of a fire in a shorter ring.

Just a bit short of excellent probably because I was in a hurry to get to Lake Superior in the Yooper. Came in during the night, explored a bit in the morning and left, but let me tell you site 015 is incredible. I could stay there a week.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
