Got one of the outer spaces with a picnic table and more of a 'view'. Dishwashing sink didn't have water, but the drinking water pump a few meters away was working fine so I filled up my camping sink from there. Flush toilets, always nice! No showers.

March is a windy, gusting presence. I knew that tent camping would be challenging, so I can't complain much about my tent, whipping and flapping noisily. Which it most certainly did. Nevertheless, I also got to view the Big Dipper as it moved around the top of my tent. I hadn't seen the Big Dipper for some time, and so I did not attach the tent lap. The temperature was pleasant. Morning was cool, and you appreciated the wind ceasing. A cool, mountain awakening and very still and quiet.

excellent! It was really just a parking lot with a picnic table and bathrooms nearby.

The campsite was terrible. The only cycling trail closed. I left a day early to go to a state park that was much more camper friendly.

The setting of Pine Springs Campground provided magnificent sunsets and sunrises. Very easy access to all trails and super clean campgrounds and support facilities. We highly recommend this location and will return.

Great spot for the van. Busy trailhead but it clears out once its dark pretty quickly. Water and restrooms on site are clean.

The site has great views. Plus everything is so close to most of the trailheads. All you have to do is wake up and step out onto a trail. Bathrooms were nearby and clean. Just wish for showers. Ill definitely stay again.

Perfect location for being close to the trails. Walkable distance to everything the park has to offer. This specific spot can be a bit noisy as early hikers arrive/begin to show up.

Location was great. Bathrooms okay. Parking lot set up ok. Would do this again due to convenience to trails.

We had one of the RV spots in the center, which worked out well, our site on the very end has a little grassy area with a picnic table, which was handymostly for setting up portable solar panels. The campground and our campsite are at the trailhead to Guadalupe Peak. Its very handy for when the trail gets busy and parking gets slim. We had enough space for our 30 ft travel trailer, and a pickup truck tucked into the side.

The campground experience was fine, but the weather was not conducive to a brief visit. It was pretty obvious where the reserved site was located; determining if a no- show site for a second night might be available not so much.
@MattB1105534 · Camped on Mar 15, 2025 at Campsite #33
Great campsite for taking the hike to the peak, the only problem is the 12 check in and check out. We arrived on the first night and planned the hike for the next day, however we did need to get up early enough to move into the a spot near the trailhead. It's a 6 hour hike so with the 12 check out it didnt allow us to stay in the spot. Otherwise the site is great and would stay there again.

This was the worst NPS campground I've ever stayed at. We have a small camper and they basically made a parking lot the camping space. Because our camper is smaller, we got a site on the outside with tree brunches overhanging our camper on an extremely windy night. We didn't check out the tent camping, hopefully it's better, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with an rv. Better off at a crowded rv park!

Convenient to the trails
@stephanie69098 · Camped on Mar 8, 2025 at Campsite #30
As it states the RV section is a parking lot that is connected to a super active trailhead parking lot, be prepared for car noise and people around always. It was very busy!Pros: Beautiful views of the mountains, flush toilets in a bathroom that has heating and was mostly cleaned, close to Carlsbad Caverns, close to trails right around the areaThe outside/edge rv spots are much nicer and "farther" away from each otherCons: Very busy with people using the trailhead, bathrooms at times were super busy/messy due to hikers,You're in a parking lot on top of each other, If RV next to you is using generator it's loud :( The outside/edge spots are much nicer than inside pull-through spots but online reservations stated must fit WHOLE vehicle/RV within spot (IE for camper vans and such) No disconnecting your trailer in spot and then parking your vehicle in the hiking parking lot spots. MANY people did not follow this rule during our stay here and parked trailer in the spot and car in hiking parking lot.VERY windy in this area

We would not recommend this campground for longer than one night, as a stop on your way to somewhere else or to hike in the area. As stated in other reviews, the "campground" aka parking lot shares a parking lot with an extremely popular hiking trailhead, which also means it shares a bathroom. Hikers started driving past our campsite around 5 AM. The bathroom was constantly full because of all the hikers getting ready, changing, using the bathroom, etc. Lots of people car camping overnight, so I'm not sure why we paid to camp and use the bathroom when we could have just done it for free. There is a camp host as you drive in to the campground....never once saw the camp host, and not a single "rule" was enforced. Overall, a pretty awful experience and we are not high maintenance campers. This campground is poorly run, unmaintained, and not worth the money.

Enjoyed our time. Trailhead is right next to campground. Couldnt find water other than at the trailhead. Sites were well spaced.
@JudyB6641446 · Camped on Mar 7, 2025 at Campsite #24
Knew ahead of time that we were staying in a busy asphalt site. Pulled into site 24 and realized that a tree branch was hanging over our site and made it nearly impossible to back into. We somehow maneuvered diagonally into the site without encroaching on our neighbors. What irked me is we were staying in the RV only site, when one site was occupied by two cars with people sleeping in their cars overnight taking up a large RV spot. No camp host stopping them.

Pine Springs Campground: A Perfect Base for AdventurePine Springs Campground was a fantastic home base for exploring Guadalupe Mountains National Park. The sites were well-maintained, offering a rugged yet comfortable camping experience. The peaceful desert setting provided stunning views, and the cool night air made for great sleeping weather. Cooking under the stars was a highlight, with a warm meal after a day of hiking feeling like a well-earned reward. The campgrounds proximity to key trails like Guadalupe Peak and Devils Hall made early morning starts easy, and the quiet, remote atmosphere was perfect for unwinding. Whether tent camping or just looking for a solid base for hiking, Pine Springs did not disappoint!

Nice place

The birding was surprisingly good. We saw several kinds of sparrows, a Hermit Thrush, a Pyrrhuloxia, grackles, jays, mockingbirds, and ravens. The campground itself is not much more than a parking lot, but it provided a night at an interesting place.

Incredible place with awesome scenery and hiking. Only thing I would recommend is be prepared for wind.

Parking lot camping. Lots of fun campers to visit with!
@FredR9915333 · Camped on Feb 22, 2025 at Campsite #28
This Campground is a parking lot, but it is a nice parking lot and you know it before you get there. There should be a sign that says you are on mountain time as there was one fellow raising cain because he thought the generators were running too late.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
