Elkmont Campground, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, TN

Elkmont Campground is part of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee (1 hr 17 min southeast of Knoxville, TN) with an elevation of 2,150 feet. There are a total of 211 campsites including 51 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from mid March to the end of November. 160 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 12 and 54 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. 3 sites have electric hookups. Prices start at $30.00 per night. Some amenities include drinking water, restroom, amphitheater, firewood, flush toilets. Activities include fishing, hiking trails.

Elkmont is a great campground. We were there early season, so only the first loops were open. The B loop along the creek was quiet and really enjoyable. Local staff were great. In general, a top destination campground, and we'll be back again!

Unfortunately loop B, though generator free, is abetted to loop C, which allows generators, which our neighbor ran for hours. Also, many very noisy "slingshots" traversing up and down the road extremely close to our site.

We routinely stay at Elkmont CG. Granted, it's large with not a lot of privacy - but it is a NPS CG. Clean. Prefer the non-generator loop(s). A great base to fly fish the TN side of the park as well as hiking too.

The campground was wonderful, the weather was standard for March, and the location was amazing. Elkmont is close to a lot of different trailheads that lets you pick and choose the length of your journey.

We really enjoyed our experience at Elkmont. We were in site C10 with a 21 foot travel trailer and truck. We had plenty of room and the site was fairly level. Most of the sites are near the restrooms. The sites are laid out well and it didn't feel we were right on top of other campers.

The campgrounds were extremely clean and well kept. Restrooms were spotless. It's quiet, roomy pads that help you feel like you are further away from others than you are .

We loved it. We stayed right on the river and its within walking distance of trails and short driving distance of a beautiful waterfall. Highly recommend

The campground was well maintained, the restrooms were very clean, and the campground was not crowded. The only downside was that we were too late to see the leaves changing.

Elkmont is at a perfect location in the park and I definitely would recommend it for people if they want to be in a more centralized part of the park where they are not too far from everything. Definitely recommend going to Cade's Cove and Abrams Falls in the west side of the park.

The campground was well kept and the weather was great but a little chilly. No heat in the restrooms or hot water for dishes. The nearby town of Daisy town is a hidden gem and exploring the cabins and ruins of the old wonderland hotel was really cool.

The park has been overrun by people. Seen a lot of trash. Also, saw group of men in the bathroom. They did not look like campers. A lot of impolite people. Been going to the Smokies for nearly 50 years. Pretty disappointed on how people treat our beautiful national park.

This campground is a perfect location; nearby nice hiking trails, historic buildings, and still just minutes away from Sugarlands Visitor Center and Gatlinburg. Some camp supplies were available for purchase in the campground as well. The sites on the river are incredible!

when we showed up it was rainy. There was a lot of generator activity (it stops at 8PM). We have a camper van.the site was nice and well kept. Our fire pit was a bit set back so we didn't use it. The night was quiet. We take advantage of state campgrounds, and this being the second one in Tennesse like the other, was in great shape, well cared for.
