This is a safe, family-friendly campground with the cleanest bathrooms youll find in the Smokies. The sites are set close together for the most part, so if you want privacy and solitude, this is not the ideal campground for you. (Hike into a backcountry campsite for that.) While you will hear and see some revelry into the night, groups are respectful and tend to quiet down at a reasonable hour. This is a family-oriented campground, with kids zooming around on bikes and scooters, and parents mingling. Its a well-run, safe campground, with easy hiking opportunities available via the trails at the north end of camp. My daughter and I had a great time rock hopping up the creek. Well be back, for sure. With bikes.

Nice clean campground with great campsites. Very quiet during the weekdays, but a bit busier on the weekends in early September.

The sound of the creek running over rocks was so soothing. The large trees provided wonderful shade. The campground was relatively quiet. Bathrooms were cleaned regularly. It was very relaxing!

Great staff. Clean restrooms.Great value but go with the knowledge that there are no showers. no electric, no water hookups. There is a dump station, potable water and the sound of the creek to sleep. Happy trails!

Campground spots all clean, signage all up to date, restrooms clean, check-in easy, and all employees and volunteers courteous. GREAT !

I think there should be a deadline for campers coming in and setting up late. it's not fair for people who are asleep usually by 10 pm , then here come folks close to you driving up, setting up, slamming cars doors, talking loud, sometime cooking, etc. this is very aggervating! Impossible to sleep. NO one should be allowed to come in and set up after 8 pm. Doyle Webb

Great camping sites. Close to Cherokee town , Smoky Mountain visitor center and to horse back riding. We were able to purchase ice and firewood there. We visited Cherokee Indian visitor center, museum of Cherokee people, white water rafting about 45 minutes with Carolina Outfitters, visit Bryson city, play in the water that ran through the campground. We've visited most of the campgrounds in the National park but have been coming back to Smokemount for 10 years.

Site F15 needs to have some gravel placed in the low spots, it holds water when it rains.

Campground was clean and well maintained. Do not expect any privacy in campsites though. I stayed at B-009, the sites are so close to one another that you can hear everything. No easement between other sites. People walking thru site to rest rooms and cars driving thru loop constantly. I would recommend sites Loop A 5-7, they have somewhat larger easement and back up to the woods. Hiking trails are not good. Do not hike the Bradley Fork Trail, it's a gravel road used by horses and full of manure. I hiked to the Smokemont Loop Trail cutoff to discover it is not maintained. The Smokemont Nature Trail located near the river is a an easy trail. Campground is in a great location, close to Cherokee and Newfound Gap. Arrive at destinations before 8:30, there's only one road.

Facilities are quite aged, its a shame some of the funding from the most visited National Park in the US doesnt stay to help update the campgrounds a bit. Beautiful Park and campground though!

way too many dogs.barking morning noon and night. some campers have as many as 3 or 4 dogs. lots of times they don't follow rules or keep on leash. people who have camped at smokemont for many years are begining to complain how it has changed, Too many dogs!!! campers leaving trash and food in fire pits. Campers in F loop with RVs too long for the site which leads them to park either on the grass or in the road. the recreation.gov site planely ask the length of your unit,this is not being enforced. Also F secection should be for motor homes only .Fifth wheels and tag alongs should be in D loop because of their and tow vehicle. they are the ones parking on the grass and in the road. this year their have been several tents in all areas and plainly says no tents on the entrance post, when they should be in the B loop. Please bring back the peace and serenity to smokemont. Hope someone that care reads this.feel free to respond.

This is a beautiful campground and one of my favorites. The river is great to cool off in and lots of trails to hike around.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
