Lovely quiet (in october ) campground with simple but excellently kept facilities.

Great campground. Sites are well spaced and fairly private. Appreciate the tent pads. Hiked on the dunes - it was really windy. Be prepared for this with glasses, face covering, hat. Hiked the trail to Dunes Overview. Wonderful.

Exceptionally clean restrooms. Bear Locker next to the campsite for convenient food storage.Would recommend to anyone passing through to stop in and get a camping spot. You do have to reserve your spot beforehand as well as pay to get in the National Park Area.

Wonderfully maintained campsites. Clean, flush toilet bathrooms. An outdoor sink, bear safe trash receptacles, food lockers, a fire pit, and a nearby camp store (the hours vary). We had a great 2 days here!

The campgrounds are great. We stay there often. Found it a bit distressing there was no campground host. I do understand things happen and things come up. Based on personal experience camping at LOTS on National Parks. Things just seem to go smoother when there is a host on site.

Park staff helped us plan and make the most out of our stay. One of the most unique places in America.

This site has a great view of the dunes and reasonable separation from neighbors. The dunes were very fun to climb around on and the well kept bathroom with running water felt luxurious and made it easier with kids.Someone did pull into an empty site in the middle of the night and idled their car for seemingly hours, and there were some annoying off leash dogs on the dunes, but that seems mostly beyond the park's control.

We camp in this campground every April and October. Often camp hosts are not available these months so there is little recourse for problems. We are tent campers and had a lovely first night. However, on the second night a man in a large SUV arrived at 8pm. He shined his headlights into our campsite for quite a while and then ran his vehicle engine the entire night. It was loud and obnoxious. We were not comfortable approaching him to ask that he turn off his vehicle. The vehicle departed at 6am. I asked a ranger for advise the next day and she told me she advised against approaching another camper in that situation and also that he wasnt violating campground policy which covers quiet time for generators but not for vehicle motors running. Also, it is not an emergency situation for contacting authorities.

Overall, this was a very nice campground: awesome views and trails, it was clean, bathrooms were always clean and stocked with toilet paper, every tent site had its own bear box, and the camp store was a nice amenity. One recommendation: some of the RMNP campsites have recycle bins and it would be nice to support that effort. Otherwise, we have no issues hauling out our recyclables.

Great campsite, cleanest bathrooms I've seen at a campground. Beautiful scenery - wish we could have stayed longer!

The first night was great! Nice and quiet weekday. Friday night was awful. There were multiple parties (and I mean parties, not groups) in the campground. Loud music, yelling, dogs barking, and cars driving around until 2am. There was not a camp host to enforce any rules and I felt unsafe as a single person with a kid. The absolute opposite of the quiet time in nature I was hoping for while visiting the national park.

Beautiful views, trails right by campground, clean bathrooms

Site 22 Has spectacular views of the Dunes. It's down a little hill which makes it feel a little more isolated. Bathrooms and grounds were clean. The fire ring at this site is not great but otherwise a great site. More than one person told me it was the best site in the grounds. I enjoyed my time there. Easy access to the Dunes trail as well.
@MarvinG7366622 · Camped on Oct 7, 2024 at Campsite #35
Very nice campground. The sites are well spaced and close to numerous hiking trails and the dunes. The restrooms are very clean and well maintained. The ranger team frequently patrols the campground so easily available to provide assistance.

Excellent group campsite. Restrooms facilities were clean and the site was a comfortable size for the group.

It was okay. Lacking in seeing any Rangers in campground. our sites were unlevel. Just seemed unhuman. All transactions are handled by an app.

I only had one night, but it was such a wonderful restorative 24 hours. No time for long hikes, so really appreciated the shorter Sand Sheet interpretive trail from the visitor center. Breathtaking yellows of the valle, then dunes, then mountains at sunset, moving slowly and stopping at each explanatory sign to be sure I could take it all in. Same next morning on the little Montville Nature Trail. Who knew yellow could have so many shades. One BIG gripe though: City level Street light GLARE from ridiculously bright lights around all the campground bathrooms!!!! Please, please, please remove those outside lights. Leaving on a light inside so folks can locate those buildings at night is plenty. I am quite certain that I am not the only tent camper that hates the bright, star blocking glare from those lights illuminating the tent all night.

Great locationFantastic view of dunesSeveral sites are small for campers
@CalvinB6A997C9 · Camped on Sep 30, 2024 at Campsite #40
View was great until a large camper trailer blocked my view of the dunes. Pull in surface was sloped 5+ degrees so I had to sleep at the opposite end of my bed!
@DavidB5075483 · Camped on Sep 29, 2024 at Campsite #7
The campsites had plenty of space so you did not feel like you were right next to your neighbor.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
