The Peterson cabin is well equipped in the kitchen for pots, pans, dishes, and eating utensils. I was very pleased to see a new propane refrigerator had been installed. The price per night is great and you get a lot of cabin for that price.

I love visiting the Peterson Prairie cabin in the winter season. The cabin is well appointed and well cared for. I recommend giving the ranger station a call beforehand to get the most recent conditions report.

Fairly straightforward cross country ski in. Bring drinking Water and a few more lanterns/headlamps. Use really small kindling in the fire place for quite a while as it heats up and then progress to medium size wood before going for the big pieces. A sheet is nice on the bed even if you do bring sleeping bags. There are plenty of dishes for everyone and the stove works well for cooking.

Clean, comfortable and stocked with everything you’d need. The description on the site actually undersells it. We’ll be back!

Great cabin, lots of snow.

Love this cabin! Everything about it is perfect - the cute kitchen with stove and fridge, the cozy living room with classy leather loveseats and toasty woodstove, the comfy beds and room for the whole crew. It snowed multiple feet during our stay and we stayed snug as a bug. The people before us didn’t leave any chopped wood or kindling (boo!) so we put in some overtime in the woodshed💪

Everything was good and in order. Nice to be able to use the wood stove inside the cabin now that the rains have come. We actually got some snow afternoon and evening of Nov 3, 2022.

Everything was great, except was expecting to have running water. Retrieved water from the campground so we could do dishes.

Easy to access and fits the bill for a cozy cabin getaway. Awesome wood stove. Couldn’t find a snow shovel and the axes need sharpening but everything else was perfect. Close to the ice caves and natural bridges and roads were groomed for xc skiing. Best cabin I’ve rented to date.

the cabin was really amazing. i wasn’t expecting to come into a fully stocked kitchen, refrigerator etc. we had a really nice time the 3 nights we were there. we stayed around the area for the most part but enjoyed as much as we could outside. the fire pit was great and on a clear night you can see so many stars. it’s a great little hideaway! can’t wait to go back!

Such a gem of a cabin! We booked the Peterson cabin on a whim without having much information about it. We are so glad we did! It is very cute, extremely clean and well taken care of. We are already planning our next trip back!

Everything was up to speed aside from the rodents. There were live rodents in the trash can when we arrived. In the middle of the night they were everywhere. I know it in the middle of nature but I would appreciate a rodent free stay. A credit for our stay, or a credit towards a different cabin would be a nice gesture. Thank you.

There were definitely mice. Bring lots of wipes to sanitize the kitchen every morning. And bring some paper to start a fire. Otherwise everything was great. We would have brought snow if we had the ability. Crazy weather.

With just two wall-mounted propane lamps on the lower floor level, there is not all that much light in the cabin at night in late fall. A number of battery-powered lanterns were provided, however it might not be a bad idea to bring your own favorite lighting. The hallway propane lamp tended to be a bit difficult to light. The gas stove was fine, and the full-size gas refrigerator was excellent. There is no running water, but used water can be dumped into the kitchen sink to drain away outside. The bookcase has a number of nice adventure and children's books. The cabin is wired with electric lights, presumably usable if the house is plugged into a generator (bring your own). Mouse/rat bait was seen, although there was no sign of rodents. It is not clear how toxic the closed-up-during-the-winter cabin may be due to any inside use of insecticides (per your own sensitivities). No doubt a fabulous place to stay when the weather is nice and the windows can be left open.

A very cute space. There are three bedrooms so invite friends to keep you company.

This is a well appointed cabin and conveniently located to lava fields, Goose Lake (although this particular lake is drying up), the ice caves, Trout Lake and BZ Corner (if you like to raft).

We had a wonderful time at the cabin. It was snug, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed (including a refrigerator, which hadn't been clear from the web page). In fact, we had such a lovely time that we modeled our annual gingerbread house after the cabin--I'd include a picture here if I could!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
