This review is ONLY regarding the attendants at the front gate. I have been camping here since I was a kid, and have always loved the sites.I rented 3 sites via this website (all under the same reservation) since I was going to have approximately 20 guests visiting and only about 12 staying the night. The website allots 8 guests per site and 3 cars per site. The new check in/ out times are 11 am checkout but a 4 pm check in. I called at 11 to see if we would be able to check in a little earlier than 4 and I was told the site would be ready around 1. When I arrived at 2 pm to check in, the man at the gate IMMEDIATELY met me with attitude about how my sites were all under the same name and how "that was a MAJOR PROBLEM". I booked these sites over 3 weeks out, and no one ever called me to let me know this was an issue (nor has it been one in the past). I added two other names to the reservation and let him know that the rest of my party would be staggering in. He never told me that would be an issue, yet continued to badger and berate every SINGLE member in my party as they arrived. The last two of my group to arrive were actually told "I don't know what the hell's goin on down there, but this is a campground, you all need to go to the pub!". He even went so far as to claim that we had already received a complaint (at 3:30 while the sun was still up and had no one near us), only to tell me when I called to ask what the complaint was about that there really wasn't a complaint, he just wanted to make sure we knew to acknowledge quiet hours.We are a group of 30-40 year olds who were just looking to enjoy an evening outside at a local campground. We camp often, and know how to behave; again, our age range is 30-40 not 18-25! They never came to check on us, just assumed we were acting a fool. I have never felt so disrespected in my life, and in my opinion, those two have no business working in customer service! I will no longer be camping here as long as they work here.

Enjoy Lake Altoona.

The host were extremely helpful and nice. I would have enjoyed a hiking trail. I had site 38 and I didn't like how close site 39 was. I felt like we were sharing the campsite. Other than that, we did tent camping right on the lake and boy was it windy (25mph) and cold. I'm not blaming the campground; I blame the Coleman 10 sleeper all weather tent. Also, we didn't like that they don't have an electric gate and therefore, once the gate is locked you cannot leave. I think the gate is closed at 10:30pm and opens at 7 or 7:30am. I believe this campground is really nice mid Spring and Summer months and especially wonderful for couples without children.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. McKinney has been our favorite local campground. Sorry to see the management change to local county Parks and Recreation and the reservation system.McKinney was one of the best Corps of Engineers Campgrounds in the country

Stayed at site 144. Hard to get into and car parked at overflow made it harder to maneuver to back into site. Excellent view of the lake and easy access to walk down to edge of lake.

Lovely park, we had a nice time here with a great deck and view of the lake. We did not use the bath house but did check it out and it looked fine, newer and clean. The area is wooded and very quiet. I used T Mobile Router the entire stay without any issues, great cell service.

View was great but the site was unlevel....We were not able to pull through because of the unlevel pull through site. We would have bottomed out The attendants are super nice!

Great site with picnic table and fire ring. The electric and water connections were well maintained and I had 50 amp electric connected without any low voltage. The only issue is backing into the site from the narrow drive and a dirt bank on the left side. Just pay attention and you shouldn't have any problems. I highly recommend any of the campgrounds around Lake Allatoona.

McKinney Campground is a beautiful campground. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Grounds were very well taken care of. Facilities were always clean. Close to access to interstate and any store needed. We definitely plan on staying here again!

My site was super private and pretty. Power and water worked great at the site, no problems.Be aware that some sites are premium lakefront site and others are standard sites for less $$ (prices at time of writing were $34 for premium, $30 for standard.)I was disappointed that the dump stations did not have a garden hose connection for me to clean out my tank. I was unable to clean my tank with the sprayers present. They also sprayed so hard that when trying to clean my stuff, water splashed everywhere all over me. Not fun.

We stayed in 117 Seas. Very nice location. The pavement shoulder going into cul de sac down and around the curve needs some fill. My trailer tire dropped into it and cant the rear jack requiring some non-damage realignment. Someone else could easily do more severe damage there.

The campground knew it was going to be a cold weekend yet didn't double check the breakers at the campsites. Our breaker broke (not flipped, the switch would not turn on) and we had no heat during one of the coldest nights of the year. Luckily our neighbors let us use their breaker box. We stayed one night and when we requested a refund for the other night we didn't receive one and didn't get an explanation as to why not. It was disheartening because we waited a long time for the campsite we reserved and for the breaker to be broken when we paid extra for it was a real let down.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
