Stoney Fork was only 10 minutes off 81. It was our stop over to and from Nashville from Virginia Beach. We plan on a longer stay to enjoy the area in the spring.

We overnighted here on our way to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The campground is nice, and we enjoyed having electric & water. The mens room sink ran very slowly. Shower was nice and bathroom clean. The dump station is across the road from the entrance, and the rinse hose is not accessible from the only remaining spot you can dump. It used to be a two way dump station.

This is a really nice campground. There is ample space between sites. There is a mix of shaded and sunny ones; as well as some with electric and others without. Levelness on my site (#46) was not bad. The bathrooms are dated but functional and clean. The sites away from the road are the quietest but even sites like mine that are near the main road are not really noisy. There is a nature trail from the campground that connects to the seven sisters trail which is a very long and challenging trail. The camp host (Roger) was the friendliest and most helpful host I've encountered in many years of camping. He was a local and as such knew a lot about the area. My cell signal on both t-mobile and at&t were solid. And with the discount for senior pass holders, the price was more than reasonable.

I loved it!!! The park was beautiful!!! The camp hosts, were AMAZING!!! Super nice, so friendly to all of us and my grandkids. The interaction with us was above and beyond!!! Rodger, Kim and Joe made our stay one of the best!! Checking on us, showing us around, telling us about the park and it's history. No host ever has done that. Bathrooms was always clean and ready to go. Thank you Kim and Joe and a HUGE thank u to Rodger for making us feel welcomed!!! Stony Fork is so lucky to have yall as host!!! My grandson Dakota and his friend Avery that stayed with me, now love camping at Stony Fork just because of Rodger, Kim and Joe. Thank yall for everything yall done!!!

Our granddaughter and daughter an ourselves enjoyed hiking the trail. Also, riding bicycles around the park. The site was big an a pretty quiet place.Our site was changed I guess because we noticed some sites had electric boxes wrapped in pink tape for repairs. Would stay again

Weve been coming to this campground for more than 10 years and its always been a great experience. It has gone downhill because campground rules are not enforced regarding pets being on a leash at all times and you cant even walk around the campground now without a barking dog charging you and your pet. Irresponsible dog owners not cleaning up after their pets is also a problem as we saw lots of waste throughout. We spoke to the host and told them about an incident we had with unleashed dog and there was little concern or response. We ended up leaving early- sad because this used to be such a great campground. It would be great if there were posted signs about leashed pets and cleaning up- also even though it clearly states it in the policies and rules the hosts should make it a priority to tell people pets must be leashed. Its just a matter of time before an attack or injury happens due to pet owners being irresponsible.

Site #7 had a ground flat on the electric box, we moved to another site and had a peaceful time at the campground. Nice short hike around the campground.

Very pretty, low-key, uncrowded (~ 50 sites) campground. Lushly forested. Lots of space between sites. Good hook-ups.
@LarryM8356646 · Camped on Apr 30, 2024 at Campsite #43
One of the best USDA/NF campgrounds in the US. Exception: The pathetic dump station, pitiful design. A mix of no hookups, electric only, or electric/water. Some reservable, some first come, nice mix. Long sites, well spaced, private. Excellent songbird population in spring, must be a bottleneck for migration. Exceptional numbers all day.

Very quiet campground. Some of the sites are tight but overall a nice place to stay.

My site was great. The pad for the tent was so nice to set up on. Amber the caretaker was very helpful. Trash disposal . boom box and water where well placed around the campground. Sites are spread out enough to have privacy. I really enjoyed my time tenting here.

Beautiful location quiet. We had just an overnight but thought it would be a great place to visit for a couple of days.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
