A great cozy cabin, a nice wooded spot, we will be back. Some nice hiking, near enough to Wytheville and the highway, well worth the price. This has been a great overnight spot for travel from the South to the Chesapeake and anywhere in the Northeast.

Stony Fork Cabin has everything you need for an enjoyable stay and is in a great location. You are tucked away in a National Forest, but only about 15 minutes away from Wytheville where there are lots of things to see and do. Be sure to hike on the stony fork nature trail from the campground loop. Its about a mile long and connects to other much longer hiking trails in the area. Big Walker Lookout Mountain is a nearby attraction that is worth seeing. As far as the cabin goes, be sure to always bring your own cleaning supplies and trash bags, as well as sheets/bedding (including pillows). The bedroom has 2 twin beds. One of the couches can turn into what appears to be a queen sized bed. A very comfortable recliner is adjacent to the couch. Two bar stools are located adjacent to the kitchen counter. A dining table that seats 4 people is located in front of the main window and is big enough for a thanksgiving dinner. The kitchen has a wide variety of kitchen gear and appliances, but there was no crockpot to be found. A full sized refrigerator (bring your own bag of ice), microwave, and stove make it easy for you to prepare and cook your meals. The bathroom has a shower and tub combination (bring your own toilet paper and toiletries, as well as towels and wash cloths). If you need to wash clothes, there is a small washer/dryer combo in a closet adjacent to the kitchen. The WiFi reception is very good (Verizon) so if you need to make a phone call, check your email, or stream a movie, you should be able to do that. This cabin does have central heating, but not air conditioning. There are 2 ceiling fans, and there is actually a window AC unit located in one of the living room windows. A small bookshelf with a variety of books is located in the living room, while a variety of board games/card games is located in the bottom of the kitchen pantry. There is a fire pit in the back that has 2 chairs and a picnic table. There is a swing, table, and 1 chair on the front patio.

The park rangers were absolutely fantastic, involving my children and giving me information about the parks trails and history. The cabin surpassed my expectations and the perfect respite from busy life, but with all the amenities of home (save for annoying technology). Thank you so much StonyFork for an awesome visit which we will treasure in years to come!

Third year back at the cabin and it was just as wonderful and peaceful as our first experience. The campground itself is a an underrated gem with tree canopies, trout streams, and a nature trail that connects to the gorgeous seven sisters trail. The campground hosts, Rodger and Mary, were super friendly and accommodating. The campground was blessed to have this duo. Definitely coming back for a fourth year!!

Perfect cabin near trails and away from lots of hustle of the city. The cabin had everything we needed. I'd love to go back in the Fall.

The cabin was our second stay and was as great as the first time. The Camp Host, Roger was fantastic. He had a great knowledge of the area and suggested great place to go see and place that were great for our grandson.

Cabin itself was very nice with a nice decor, but there were a lot of bugs inside. Not just flies and spiders that you would expect. There were many cockroaches and even a wasp that stung me in my sleep.

It was wonderful. We used it as a jump off spot for the New River Trail for bicycling. Such a sweet cabin. Very quiet.

A hidden gem in the mountains! We absolutely loved our stay there! It had everything we could need & more! Our grandson loved running in the HUGE yard, there was a creek to explore, lots of hiking in the area, all the amenities that we could ask for, and the beauty of nature! We will definitely be returning! Such a peaceful & tranquil place!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
