Lovely time of year (October) to visit. Campground clean and vault toilets were well maintained. Campground host very helpful, pleasant and available. Able to bike, hike and kayak. Hope to return!

Holland Lake is beautiful! The campground is quite rustic: the roads are rutted dirt paths between campsites and the back-in and pull-through parking are far from level. But, many of the campsites are large and quiet with lots of space between neighbors. When we were there, the fire pits and tables were clean and the vault toilets were freshly painted and stocked. Sadly, there is a feral cat problem. The camp host told us that the Forest Service will trap them and take to the humane society if he sees them or is told about them.

Holland Lake is a reliable go-to for us. Try to get a site on he shore linethe back sites can get road dust. Or better yet, try the disbursed sites beyond the lodge. Loons, beaver and eagles are included in the adventure.

Trying to just get a reservation is madness, the system is broken.

Holland Lake is one of our Favs! Such a beautiful, clear lake. The hike to Holland Falls if a must do. Its just over 3 miles out and back

Campgrounds well groomed and clean. Camp host friendly and informative. Beautiful location. My only request would be to trim the branches on the trees that hang over the road around the campground. Kind of hard to avoid them with the 5th wheel height.

The campers on either side of us had barking dogs, crying babies and a portable speaker going well beyond the quiet hours. Holland lake used to be such a quiet and serene place but no more. We talked to the camp host the next morning about all the noise and he said he talked to the load group next to us multiple times but clearly that was ineffective.

The campground was quiet, the spots were well maintained and the vault toilets were clean and well taken care of. There is easy access to the lake from any of the camp sites and abundant shoreline to enjoy the lake for swimming, paddle-boarding, etc.

Holland Lake is a beautiful camping destination. There are two Loops you can choose from. The Bay Loop is at the same level as the lake, while the Larch Loop campsites are up above the lake and require a short walk down to the lake. The campsites all have trees that provide some shade during the day. They do allow generators during the day but most people really limit their use which is nice for enjoying the sounds of nature. There are plenty of campgrounds that allow people to run generators all day long, so if that is a need of yours, a different campground would be recommended. Throughout your stay you will enjoy the call of loons, deer roaming down to the water for a drink, the sound of the waterfall in the distance, and lots of bird and small animals stopping by to check you out.For families with small kids, the advantage to camping in Larch Loop is that the water is shallow for at least 50-100 yards, so your kids can stand up and not worry about the water being deep. For adults (however), we have to walk a long way out before the water drops off. In the Bay Loop beach areas, the water drops off right away and is deep much quicker. We have camped at Holland Lake for 20+ years and still feel totally safe leaving our kayaks, paddle boards, and blow up water toys down at the beach for the entire time we are there. I can't say theft never occurs, but in my years of camping here, it has never happened. Make sure you take time to hie to the falls. Going in the morning or evening would be my recommendation, to avoid the afternoon heat. It's well worth the hike and the hike is relatively easy.

The portable toilets after the 4th weekend were near to overflowing and were not emptied until Tuesday midday. They are only being emptied once a week. They ran out of toilet paper. We have always loved our past experiences at Holland Lake Campground. We have been going there since 1964. This kind of soured us. Don't know if we will go back or not. It is sad when you have a family tradition for 50 + years.

After visiting Holland Lake for over 40 years, and a lot of changes, I was disappointed that the portable toilets in the Bay Loop were not serviced more than once a week. However, the campground hosts are SUPERB and we had a very relaxing 10 day stay.

camp host Leona was AAAA+ in every way....the only negative is that you better like campers dogs , these people have NO manners whatsoever...

beautiful area and a very nice campground......I do hope they are able to resolve and update the issue with sewage soon as possible. I missed having the dump station.....The vault toilets didn't seem to receive the attention they have in the past...not bad but not kept as nicely as in past years...

It was clean and the hosts were amazing and so kind to our kids!!! The bathrooms were spotless at all times!!! This is the best run campground Ive ever been to!!! As a Montana native I was discouraged how hard it was to score a camp spot but it was 100% worth the effort!!!

So while we like the campground, we did have a problem. We reserved our campsite in February, just for it to supposedly be given away. We got there at 6:30 pm, there was someone else in the spot stating that they were told they could take the spot. This was a spot directly on the lake. We were given a different spot, but away from the lake (we could not even see the water). We had been hiking all day were too tired to argue. Otherwise we had a peaceful stay as the campground was less than half full, yes and our spot was still given away.

Holland Lake is a beautiful lake for kayaking as long as the jet skiers are not on the water. It is very hard to get reservations in July and August. Please keep it natural. There are plenty of other Montana lakes that are already a mass tourist attraction.

Great when motorized boats leave the lake and the loons and non motorized watercraft have peace on this beautiful alpine lake.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
