Emery Bay Campground, Martin City, MT

Emery Bay Campground is located in the Hungry Horse Ranger District of the Flathead National Forest (2 hrs 35 min north of Missoula, MT) with an elevation of 3,562 feet. There are a total of 28 campsites. The campground is normally open from mid May to mid September. Sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 28 and 60 feet. All sites are currently reservable. 26 sites have water hookups. Fees range from $18.00 to $90.00.

The water may have been potable, but not drinkable, horrible taste of tank water.the vault toilet smelled of cherry cough syrup, recommend another cleaner/air freshener.The tent campsite we were on had no trees or bushes between us and the next site. The tent areas by us were less than 20 feet apart. Luckily, no one camped there while we were there, but otherwise, it would have been crazy close. Other tent sites had lovely shade and privacy, I recommend making this an RV site. It is 20 min from the west entrance to Glacier, it is nicely off the beaten path. The reservoir is lovely and allows motor boats.

What an idyllic location! We selected this for proximity to Whitefish Mountain and Flathead Lake. It was so beautiful and the reservoir was fantastic for swimming! I could not have been more pleased. We had our reservation, we were expected and went directly to the site. I would love to return and spend more time. Each site has so much space and privacy.

first off- dan is very responsible and responsive. lake experience is awesome. even when it rained, it didnt get muddy.only issue i would raise is lack of spigot on group site 1.

Campsite and facilities were in excellent condition, clean and level. Camp host was friendly and helpful. Gravel road into camp was rough and needs maintenance but other than a rough 5 miles or so the facilities and location was great.

Our group was not very happy with our stay at Emery Bay. Most of us were there for 9 days. We had several campsites. One campsite our group had was next to the day use area so they had many different people coming and going each day. Some of the day use people were loud and rude. Our friends ended up moving to another campsite with the help of Jennifer, the host. I would not recommend staying in site 7 or 8 because of the transient nature of that part of the campground.It quickly became apparent that a conflict existed between the camp hosts and their manager. A few days into our stay the hosts, Jennifer and Rory, quit. There was then no onsite host for a couple days. Toilets were running short of toilet paper and things seemed a bit more chaotic in general.We liked our particular campsite. However, there was a lot of day use traffic going by and the road was very dusty. I understand that we were camping in the woods and dirt and dust are part of the experience. But, with the excessive day use traffic, it was more than we expected for a campground so far away from the nearest paved road.

Campground was closed due to bear activity. Tried to obtain a refund but folks at the campground could not help. Unable to cancel myself. Called reservation.gov and they put in a cancellation request for me but the campground manager has not approved it. So if they close the campground and you have to find scramble to somewhere else you still get to pay.

Friendly helpful hosts and a beautiful location. Though Site 1 isnt suitable for tent camping as its along a cliff that drops off and doesnt have any good spots to set up a tent besides right next to the road.

CLEANEST PIT TOILETS EVER. Quiet. Dont think you could pick a bad spot anywhere in the camp ground.

A wonderful campsite! Obviously beautiful scenery, our campsite offered views of the forest and the bay. Friendly and helpful camp host. There were vault toilets, but no hand sanitizer. Also no showers and no cell reception at the campsite. We drove a couple miles down the road back towards Martin City to get service, so not too far out of the way!

The 3 mile washboard road getting to the campsite was almost unbearable. The actual site was beautiful however

Emery Bay campground exceeded our expectations. The forest service and Camp host did a great job monitoring and maintaining the campground. The locals were very respectful to campers while enjoying the beautiful lake. It is a great location for daytrips to the East and West entrances to Glacier National Park. We enjoyed our shopping/dining trips to Columbia Falls. Hungry Horse dam is worth seeing. We really loved our trip to Two Medicine Lake in Glacier. It is 6 miles off highway 2. The first 3 miles are paved along a rural residential area. The second 3 miles is gravel, dusty dirt and bumpy so be sure to drive slow. I hope the Forest service will find money to pave those 3 miles to make it easier to get to and from the campground. We would definitely camp here again.

Emery Bay campground is a lovely place. The sites are spread out, there is little night time traffic, the lake is close by and even has loons! We stayed in site #4, which is right next to the boat ramp and easy to walk down to the lake after supper to enjoy the sunset. After the busy-ness of Glacier National Park, this NFS campground is a welcome bit of peace and quiet.

Roomy sites, easy to maneuver, quiet campground Only knocks would be more dust due to unpaved roads and boat ramp is a bit steeper than most.

This is definitely some of the more primitive type of camping than many national parks, but that's what I LOVED about it. The pit toilets were clean, the campsites well-kept, and it was right close to the bay, which was absolutely lovely. We felt like we had the place to ourselves--just us and nature. Also , the camp hosts were FANTASTIC! They took the time to help out when we didn't know we needed to have a reservation to get into Glacier, and how to deal with it. They also offered firewood, help lighting it (it was raining), and addressed our every need with professionalism and a positive attitude. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

It really is a pretty location and the campsites are generally very nice and well spaced out...and private. As other reviewers have written...the day use people are quite loud (preteens on jet skis, four wheel vehicles racing through the narrow dirt campground roads, screaming kids pulled on inner tubes with speed and pontoons boats and the like). This really places a burden on the peace of this wonderful setting. Hosts were great.

The camp host where awesome to work with when we thought we would have extend our stay. When we checked in they came by later to see if there was anything we needed when we said fire wood they said they had us covered there and bought it to us. The campground is very clean and the restrooms are the cleanest we have ever seen in a campground of this type would diffidently go back.

Beautiful camground by the lake. Camp hosts were wonderful and offered firewood every night which can be a lifesaver. Bathrooms and camp areas were very clean and upkept. Convenient 15 minute drive to West Glacier NP entrance and nice towns nearby if you need cell service or groceries. Only complaint was noisy neighbors, but it was memorial day weekend, which definitely attracted a rowdy crowd of campers.

Excellent camp host, beautiful, secluded camp site. Only minor issue is that I set up a tent and the layout was kind of screwy for a tent setup. There was not room to set up a tent except for the parking area, the lower area was filled up with the fire pit and the picnic table. So i had to set up my tent in the parking area above the camp site. Otherwise, beautiful location and great camp host.
