Wonderful place even on a completely socked in rainy day. Spent our time between the front porch and the wood stove. Hope to visit again in fair weather.

We only were able to stay one night but so glad to find some winter. The cabin was cozy and stayed very warm. Plenty of wood and everything worked in the kitchen. It has been many years since we had visited, very impressed with the new floors and furniture. The road into the cabin was in good shape. The North Fork road was not plowed but was packed down by traffic. Enjoyed going into the park and skiing on the road to Kintla Lake. Road to park entrance is a bit rough and had large puddles. Definitely need a good vehicle made for winter.

We loved Schnaus Cabin so much! The view is spectacular and the cabin was warm a cozy and very roomy. We brought everything for cooking meals but the cabin was fully stocked with utensils and cookware. The woods surrounding the cabin were just magical. It was a great weekend getaway for us.

Rented this in Mar. Lots of snow around which was good because we were there to do cross country skiing in Polebridge area. The views from the cabin were absolutely amazing. It also had just about everything you'd need for cooking. They also provided trashbags and trashcan. You just have to pack it all out when you leave. We'd definitely rent again. Great experience.

My family has rented this cabin and others for many years. I would sat starting in the 80's. Several of us were Glacier Park employees. We enjoy the solitude, beauty and family time. Games, cooking, campfires, hiking and so much more. Thank you for getting a new stove and oven at Schnaus. The Wertz cabin stove is awesome. However, the oven didn't work. Ford cabin was not as clean as it should be. But, we enjoy all. Thank you!

Everything was great except the people before us didn't restock the woodpile or kindling supply. We love to move wood and to chop up the rounds and make kindling, so it wasn't a problem, just not very considerate. Two things: the visquene on the one of the double beds downstairs is pretty ripped. Also, the Swiffer is completely out of fluid. When we discovered this, we didn't have the time to drive to the nearest creek and get enough water for mopping all the floors. We did the best we could with sweeping, and left the place clean.

I have stayed here before, the cabin is well kept. However, this time, due to weather I was unable to make it there, so those 2 days are a contribution to the cabin. The weather came in quick and living in Montana, there are things you have to do to take care of your own place before going on a vacation. lol would not live anywhere else

What an awesome cabin! We loved it other than the gas leak in the big bedroom. The FS was notified and hopefully they get it fixed asap. We will defiantly be going back.

The only reason I am knocking this down to three stars is because for whatever reason, there were like two dozen flies inside the house. At first it was two, and then I had to keep killing them for a good portion of the night. I am not sure what happened before me, but it really ruined what could easily have been a wonderful cabin. The views from the balcony are stunning. I ate dinner and breakfast out there, just soaking in all that beauty. It is about an hour drive from the Glacier National Park West Glacier entrance. The road is under construction so it took a little longer. After you cross the river the road can get really dusty and slippery with the gravel.

Know that the road to the cabin is rough and dusty and takes quite some time to get there. No cell service or wash facilities

In wintertime, bring cross country skis, snowshoes, and "grippers" to attach to your boots so you won't slip on ice. You never know what the ice and snow will be like. We used snowshoes and grippers, but it was way to icy and steep to use skis. You can easily walk from the cabin to the shore of the North Fork of the Flathead River in 30-40 minutes. Bring a pair of binoculars so if you have clear skies you can zoom in on the peaks of the continental divide. Bring a lot of water for drinking and for washing dishes and pans. We made some wonderful meals at the cabin. Expect to have a wonderful time.

Bring firewood for the outdoor firepit. Bring stadium style chairs for sitting on the metal grate benches around the fire. Reload the cabin's firewood from the shed, the combination is the same as the cabin (this info used to be in the instructions but the part that says it's actually in the shed wasn't on our instructions this year). Bolting the latch on the front door helped us keep the leak of cold air from entering. Bring a bright lamp for playing games in the dark, the propane mantel lanterns are not very bright. In the winter when you need to drain your dishwater into the vault toilet, it's handy to bring an empty 5 gallon bucket with a handle to make hauling easier. Bring old socks to put on the metal toilet seat... brrrr... at 10f. Enjoy the views!

One of the best. We had phenomenal weather with colorful sunrises and sunsets overlooking the mountains. Larch were in full color. The cabin is incredibly spacious. The fireplace keeps it warm and cozy. Easy access to many National Park and National Forest sites and hiking trails.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
