Great campsite. Way larger than I imagined and plenty of room for all of us.

Great campsite with beautiful surroundings. The reservoir was fairly high with lots of folks fishing and boating. Went for a walk around the area, hiking up into the hills overlooking the reservoir. A peaceful and relaxing place to recharge.

It is beatiful little well kept campground but cannot recommend because the ground surface is literally paved with all sizes of ants. Had to walk my dog but otherwise could not step out of my trailer

Killer ants! First of all, 19 miles of bad dirt road to get there. Beautiful setting with all the trees and the lake. But then the ants. They swarm you and literally attack you! The climb in you feet and bite. We left early.

The good: A pretty and woodsy campground which was extremely quite in early October. The bad: A long drive down from Hyw 12 The reservoir was very low and not particularly scenic at all in early October

Never got there. Problem with rental car and not enough signs from sr12 to know how far we had to go to on twisty turny roads before dark.

This campground is at the end of a forest road in some major need of repair. Upon arriving at my site which I'd reserved on this site for two nights, I found no indication my site was reserved. No tag, nothing. The site had not been cleaned up. Bottle caps, sticky substance on picnic table etc. It was not pleasant. There was a group site down the road with many screaming children. Path to Bowens lake was difficult to locate. Vault toilet was decent. I only stayed one night and headed out to find a better campground for my second night in the area. As a solo, female, traveler I did not feel safe.

We only stayed one night even though we reserved 3 nights. Turned out that 40 law enforcement personal with ATVs showed up for 3 days and nights of law enforcement training. Would have been nice to know this ahead of time. Paid for 2 nights we never used. We were the only campers there!!!!!!

Great campground. The bathrooms are always kept clean. Earnest the camp host was very friendly and a joy to visit with. We've been coming there for several years. Perfect fit for my family and friends

The aggressive ants at this site were intolerable. We ended up not even setting up our tents as they were biting us before we could get all of our equipment out of the vehicle. We inspected other sites in the camping area and they had the same issue. It could have been a seasonal issue, but I suggest Inspecting the area before reserving a site here it you’re tent camping.

So the road going into the campsite was pretty rough. Rough enough that I wouldn't pull my trailer down it again. The water, "Resevoir", was super low. So low that the grandkids were not able to get out far enough to catch any fish. The weather though, was great. Overall, we had a good time but like I said, wouldn't go there again.

No shade at the group site, very few if any places to put a tent, might as well have gone 10 yards across the group campground fence with all the primitive campers - would have still had access to the bathroom and not been on a gravel road. Wish they had a small pavilion or some means to escape the sun. It might be just ok if you have up to 3 RVs to sleep in, but not for tents. The paid campground itself stays pretty empty with everyone going to the nicer, dispersed camping areas in the pines and down closer to the reservoir. You have to go up to the highway to fill and haul your water. We've primitive camped at Lower Bowns several times, but took a large youth group this year and decided we needed the bathroom. Probably wouldn't do the campground again. We thought we could be a little secluded from the other campers, but the group firepit is right on the fence line where everybody else camps anyway so there's no real privacy.

Loved the quiet campgrounds, the beautiful lake and the hike up to watch the sunset!
@JayB478 · Camped on Jun 4, 2021 at Campsite #2
Campsite was very clean. Table and firepit was on a cement pad. Close walk to the lake, which was low. I did attempt a drive to the south side of the lake and got stuck in the sand. Good folks stopped and helped push us out. Good star-gazing site. The negatives ... rather aggressive ants. We stomped a lot of them. Also, stop and fill up on water shortly after leaving the main road. There's no water at the campground as far as we could tell and it's a bit of a drive there from the main road. No internet as I recall.

Great remote spot! Beautiful reservoir close to the sites. Dirt road is a bit challenging for small cars.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
