Beautiful little campground. It has put toilets, a dumpster, basic recycling and two water spigots. There was a little creek down from our site that we could hear. It was nicely quiet and watching the antics of the tiny Commons and Golden Mantle squirrels was endlessly entertaining. We also saw a couple of grey squirrels. Not many birds but we did see a raven, woodpeckers and an owl. Just a lovely, restful place.

The shittiest campground I stopped by this summer. Booked it because every other camp around Paulina lake was booked solid. All water spouts were dry and taped, and there was no natural water source, either. Outhouses are old and falling apart. Host was not available. And here is the kicker - the camp was mostly empty but they wouldn't allow me to reserve it for just one night, so I had to pay $46 to spend the night there. What a contrast to the great East Lake campground i stopped at earlier!

Easy in and out and plenty of room to move around but not much privacy. No water at campground despite water piping in place. Campground is very centrally located.

Beautiful setting, spacious site near a calm stream. Only downside is that there is occasional traffic that can be heard from a nearby road. Great spot for our family to tent camp while visiting the Bend area.

Camped in our trailer and it was great. Had some awesome sunsets to enjoy minus a few mosquitoes. The water isn't working but we brought it so it was no problem for us. Overall great time and will come back!

Our stay at Prairie Campground was a pleasant one. Just a short hike from the Paulina Creek, it was clean and quiet, very restful. Our camp host Pat was the best! He is very friendly and attentive to the camps he hosts plus very knowledgeable about the general area! Pat is an asset we hope to see next year when we stay at Prairie Campground!

This was not a favorite campsite of ours. The camp host was so nice and helpful. We found all of his information about the area to be extremely helpful for us to go and explore which is why I'm giving this place a 3. Well that and the amazing things to see in the area. Otherwise, I don't have much to say that's good unfortunately. The vault toilets were pretty disgusting and I was actually worried they were going to fall apart. The campground itself is very very dry and dusty. We've camped in the area before so we thought we knew what to expect but this was so much worse than other places we've stayed.

Only 1 working water spigot and the outhouses were ok. Only 1 set in the whole campground that we saw and luckily we were right by them. Good flat spots for tents.

I have been camping at Prairie for 25 years. There doesn't appear to be any maintenance. 2 outhouses have be out of use for 2 years. Picnic tables have pieces of wood under them. Water faucets need gravel. The worst thing in the area is the road to McKay Crossing campground. It is never graded and will shake your vehicle to death. The road in Mckay has ruts and is not graded. Instead of seeing forest service people grading the road or fixing stuff in the campgrounds I saw 2 guys walking around looking at trees to cut. What do my fees go for?

I reserved (and paid for) our site for two nights. We were visiting friends in SunRiver and after spending the day with them returned to our campsite to find that it was occupied by other campers... the camp hosts had given it away "because we hadn't left anything behind". Well, we've been camping all our lives and had never heard of that "rule". Perhaps we hadn't determined whether we WANTED to use the site a second night - would have been nice to have the option. Maybe we didn't want our things stolen, or crawled on by squirrels, or blown away by the wind. Regardless, if this is a new rule at National Forest campgrounds, it should be described in the registration confirmation and posted at the campground. The host was kind enough to allow us to sleep in a space near his trailer, but his partner was angry and rude to us and made us feel very unwelcome. Needless to say we got an early start so we did not encounter her in the morning.

The campground itself is great. The sites are big and spread out with beautiful Ponderosa pines and a nice creek. The camp hosts were friendly, and the other guests were quiet-everyone obeyed quiet hours. However, there was a fair amount of road noise, including cars until 2 or 3 am one night. If I went again, I would try to get a site on the end away from the road.

Beautiful place. A quiet campground that is near lots of fun activities and places to see. The creek is also perfect for small children.

Sweet little campground on a beautiful creek. Great sites with adequate space for tent(s) and good spacing between sites.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
