Mallard Marsh with no bugs was very pleasant. We arrived late on a Friday made dinner and went to bed after the fire burned out. It was quiet and not close to the only boat ramp at Hosmer. I think this was a plus considering the amount of traffic the boat ramp gets on weekends. My wife said the pit toilet was one of the cleanest she has used in recent memory. There is lake access further down the loop that is not signed. In the future we will check that out.

Great spot to camp. There was plenty of room in the campsites and each one had a fire ring and table. No bear boxes or running water. I wish it would have had direct/walking access to Hosmer Lake, but overall a good spot to camp.

Should be noted that Recreations.gov shows flush toilets at this location and trash/recycling available along the loop. This is not accurate. I already knew that, so it wasn't a concern for our trip. The campground was very peaceful until Saturday night, when we had to talk to some neighbors about observing quiet hours. During the week it was very quiet and the lake wasn't too crowded; paddleboard traffic gets thick and makes it hard to navigate narrow channels during busy times. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Large site with lots of trees. Very quiet and easy access to Hosmer. Our site even had a path down to the water where you could leave a boat or paddle board.

Love this place ....really nicely spaced out camp sites

Nice location, walking distance to the Hosmer lake boat ramp. Wish there was water in the campground or the one next door. Bathrooms were clean as compared to other vault toilets we have camped in. Campsites large enough for at least a couple of tents. Overall nice stay.

Lucky to get the reservation.

What a gem of a campground and location! I almost hate to recommend it, because I want to keep Mallard Marsh and Hosmer Lake to myself…the words already out , so why not tell it like it is? There are no services-pit toilets, no water or electric- and the mosquitos were vicious, but we enjoyed boondocking with with little 19” Airstream trailer. If we can ever get a reservation, we’ll be back.

The hosts did a great job of keeping the campsite clean

Campsite was clean and had actually been raked/manicured upon our arrival. Plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent at site #5. Nice and quiet; we stayed Monday of Labor Day Weekend. Pit toilets are a close walk; a little stinky but hey it's a pit toilet after a holiday weekend so let's be realistic here. It was quite clean and well stocked with toilet paper. 2nd time staying here. Hosmer is a great place for a mellow paddle with outstanding mountain views and great wildlife viewing. Wasps at the campsite were pretty aggressive but it was that time of the season. I noticed there were wasp traps hanging from trees in other campsites so there's definitely been an effort made to reduce their presence. Thank you Mallard Marsh Camp Host for the prestine upkeep of your grounds.

Paddling is good. Fishing is tough.

Great campground and lake for kayaking. Disappointed to have had our reservation shortened by two days on the front end. Park was closed from 6/24-7/8 or thereabouts us to lack of a Camp Host.

The camp was well maintained and was quiet and beautiful with great views and spots. So many trails all around and breathtaking views. I will be coming back next year when ever I can.

Wonderful place, we always enjoy it. However, the website information was not up to date regarding fire restrictions and while the campground website said fire rings were ok, they were understandably prohibited. Suggest a website update for clarity.

Campsites are pretty dusty. A slight breeze or walking around kicks up a lot of dust clouds.

Nice large sites, not too many bugs when we went in mid August. A few mosquitos at night, nothing a quick spritz of DEET couldn't handle. Lots of kayaking opportunities, but no hiking trails connect to CG - had to drive to get to any TH. No water on site and vault toilets were quite ripe. Very dusty and wildfire smoke was pretty bad in our stay. Will probably try to camp here again.

Nice, quiet campground! We liked being away from the busy boat launch, but there is no direct lake access so you still have to drive around to paddle. There is a small user trail that goes to the edge of the reeds and you might be able to carry a small kayak down, but would not have worked for our canoe. Bathrooms were very smelly, but clean.

Great lake for kayaking. Campsites are not great. Too dusty! Not much that is attractive about them.

We had site #2 at Mallard Marsh and it was very quiet and roomy. Just a short walk to a path that led to lake access where we kept our kayaks. Hosmer Lake is gorgeous.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
