Great spot. Close access to kayaking and hiking.

This campground is on Lava Lake. We had a very relaxing stay. It is well maintained. Plenty to do with trails for hiking and biking from the campground. It has a good boat ramp to launch boats and other water craft. We stayed during the week and it was not crowded. We have stayed here for the past three years in August. Lots to do in the area.

Didnt have our name on site even though we reserved. No camp host for 3 days. Could use some tree maintenance.

I love Lava Lake. The campground is always clean and the sites are typically really, really large. Even the tent-only sites have room for multiple tents and space. Great service now, too. I had two-three bars on Verizon. Always availability and good access to the lake.

There are 2 small beaches on either side of boat ramp, but family's are using dock for their water fun making it hard for boaters to use ramp. Kayakers also need to be aware. I am a kayaker and stay to the farthest side of ramp. Please be considerate.

Loved this campground, not only were the camp sites very site but the views were amazing and the staff at the camp store was friendly as well as helpful. The only drawback was all the mosquitos but they have no control over that - bring spray or non toxic mosquito candles.

Very nice campground with large sites. Easy access to both Big and Little Lava lakes, plenty of trails in the area. Pit toilets were kept clean with daily service. The nearby resort has a camp store to buy propane, gasoline, food, and has a RV dump site. This is a good base to paddle the popular nearby lakes like Hosmer, Elk, Fawn, etc. Sites are heavily wooded so a portable solar panel helps to chase the rays that make it to the ground.

We couldnt stay due to the heavy smoke out there unfortunately! It looked like a nice place but we had to turn around and leave due to wildfire smoke:(

This is one of our favorite places to camp. Friendly people who work at the resort between this year and last year. Will be back!!

Well kept pleasant campground.

My campsite was ready and neatly raked before I arrived, offering a "Welcome to Lava Lake, enjoy your stay" greeting. The toilet clean upon arrival and cleaned daily while we were there . The camp hosts friendly and helpful. There are a variety of trails, and each visit I discover a new trail to hike on.

Well kept campground. Very nice location with swimming, paddle boarding, etc. on the lake, and hiking in the nearby mountains. Bring sunscreen, and bug spray.

Great campground. Mosquitos were an issue, but they went away by 10pm every night.
@MickeyCBC43EF3 · Camped on Jul 3, 2023 at Campsite #35
The mosquitoes were really bad, but that’s par for the course this time of year. The fishing was great, and we enjoyed swimming and playing in the water at little lava.

We had a wonderful four night stay at Lava Lake. It’s one of our favorite places to kayak, when the toxic algae is not blooming. The campground was quiet and the bathrooms were clean.

Campsite was well maintained and clean. Beautiful lake and view of the mountain. Mosquitoes are very heavy this year. Camp Host was nonexistent. Never said hi or was seen around the campsite unless checking the bathrooms. The last night, before I went home a day early, a neighboring site had loud (yelling and screaming) and drunk campers until 1am, I went to the host who did not wake up over multiple attempts and ended up confronting the campers myself. Before that I had asked them to quiet down multiple times which had no effect.
@PamelaS2519925 · Camped on Jun 22, 2023 at Campsite #12
Had a neighbor that was not considerate about quiet at nights or running their mini bikes around the campground. Also, mosquitos were vicious this year.
@ChrisS8694045 · Camped on Jun 22, 2023 at Campsite #35
CAMP HOSTS WERE GREAT, TAKING REALLY GOOD CARE OF SITES AFTER CHECKOUT. SOME CAMPERS WERE EXCESSIVELY LOUD LATE INTO THE NIGHT (AFTER MIDNIGHT), BUT THAT IS TO BE EXPECTED AT ANY CAMPGROUND.

Amazing place to stay. A lot of mosquitoes

I love this campground and fishing Lava Lake and Little Lava Lake.

Lava Lake was an absolutely amazing get away! If you’re looking for limited cell service and beautiful high lakes, this is perfect.

Fantastic campground hosts - informative, friendly, and the spaces were spotless. The sites are spacious, tucked into the trees. Bonus - we enjoyed the walk to Little Lava Lake for a change of scenery.

We were told on the second day that the campground was at a level 3 evacuation order and we were to leave the camp ground. Requesting refund.

Over Labor Day weekend we stayed in site 35. We have a 32 foot trailer and was able to back it into the site without much trouble and it was fairly level. This site is next to a path that connects Little Lava Lake and Lava Lake campgrounds and access to the path cannot be hindered by your vehicle(s) or trailer. Note that Lava Lake Campground has water available, but no electricity and it is in the mountains which equals dirt, pitch, and bugs. It also (depending on the time of year you stay) is warm-hot during the day, but gets cold at night. So pack accordingly. Site 35 is back of site living meaning the picnic table and fire ring are at the rear of the site vs. on the right side of your trailer. This really didn’t pose an issue for us, the terrain between the picnic table / fire ring to the trailer site was free of tripping hazards. This site also provided some great shade, which enhanced its privacy level. Lava Lake resort is a short walk from Lava Lake campground and has a small store and is very well maintained. It has a dump station that can be used for a fee of $2.00. Little Lava Lake and campground is also very nice, however the road into the campground is slightly washed out. The camp host(s) we’re very friendly and attentive, but didn’t hover. The bathrooms were cleaned daily. Most of the picnic tables that I noticed needed replacement as they were very worn, but still usable. Must see-destinations include Todd Lake and hiking up to no name lake and we actually spent more time paddling on Little Lava Lake and Hosmer Lake than Lava Lake.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
