Great place for river access! Just miss having a fire.

Good campsite but only have 10 sites. Very small campground and no hookups. We were very happy with the location. Only suggestion would be to have trash pick up more often. Trash containers were overflowing.

It is as advertised. Its a small campground with a pit toilet (nicely clean), no water and beside a road. It was a place to spend the night on the way elsewhere.

A beautiful campground but very disappointed with the campground host. Everyone in the campground seemed to follow the routine of the sun - that of going to bed when it gets dark at 7:30pm. The difficult part of going to bed between 8-10pm in order to get a good night's rest before long days of exploring the beautiful area - was the loud disturbing noise of the campground host's generator loudly blasting throughout the whole campsite until we could finally get peaceful rest at 10pm. I realize quiet hours only start at 10pm but the fact that the host was the only one disturbing the peace seemed ridiculous and rude. Would only come back to stay if there was a different/quieter host

The campground was very clean. I liked being on the Deschutes river. Very quiet respectful campers. The bathroom was clean too

The river next to this campground was very beautiful and the camping spots are nice and big. I've rated it 3/5 because the driveway entrance is very rough and the highway is pretty close so you can't escape the road noise. We were only there for one night. There is much to do in the vicinity with many attractions and endless miles of trails for hiking. Highly recommend the Newberry Volcanic area as a vacation destination.

Beautiful spot. Easy in. Easy out. Make sure to stop by local market (eg. Safeway) for certified wood

Its a beautiful riverside campground, very serene, with a clean pit toilet, and a nice picnic table.

Overall a nice campground. The only drawback is the road it is on is fairly busy.
@williams984835 · Camped on Jun 26, 2023 at Campsite #8
USFS CGs have gone downhill since turning them over to concessionaires. There is no maintenance, the Road is full of monster chuck holes, tree limbs hang too low, and the dumpsters are over flowing. So sad as Big River is a beautiful spot.

Very nice campground. Beautiful. Clean restrooms. Love this place.

Peaceful and beautiful. There were lots of mosquitoes in the evening but they were to be expected during this time. Campers were great and respectful. Felt safe! ❤️

Very pretty. Bathroom was clean and I never had to wait in line despite the full campground (lots of people with their own RV bathrooms). A little closer to the road than I would have liked, but at night the frogs and crickets drown out traffic noise. Also very nice to walk right into the Deschutes, but the trade off there being a lot, I mean a LOT of mosquitoes. As soon as we arrived several were immediately having Thanksgiving dinner on me, right through my clothes. Do not come without citronella and bug spray.

Access to the river is very nice but we didn't take advantage of it as much as we should have. Traffic noise spoiled some of the tranquility.

Site was great, clean and right on the water. However, the bathroom was DISGUSTING and unusable due to hundreds of flies and a toilet that was 3/4 full. We were there 5 days and it was never emptied. Had to cut our trip short.

I am a "local" who lives 6 miles from this site. People ask, "why go camping so close to home?" The answer is this is my HAPPY PLACE! No dishes, no laundry, no problems. It took 3 years to book this stay because of the the pandemic. Not happy with the price or the reservation people but the mgmt (Jess) was very accommodating. He made my stay very comfortable. BIG KUDOS JESS!

Great area and the campground "host" (believe his name was Jesse" was especially helpful with information..

#1 both garbage dumpsters were FULL. Was told they empty them 1 a week. There is NO way that was 1 weeks worth of garbage. On the 4th of July weekend. #2 motor home pulled into camp B (which was part of our camp rented by a friend) on Sunday night and stayed for free while they and us paid 100.00 a night. #3. People used Big River Group camp as a day us area. So while we pay ...they used it for free. We had 2 big lifted trucks pull into our camp on the 4th of July so they could take the dogs swimming. The one guy was very intimidating and his German shepherd and lab bale out of his truck ( thank god the pit bull stayed in it) and run right up to me and my puppy. I requested they move their truck and it was a good thing I was not alone in camp, he had been drinking and was trying to intimidate me until they rest of my camp came to my defense. Will I every stay at this camp again. NO Will I recommend it to anyone else NO

Easy to find even though AppleMaps did not pull it up by name. Not a bad site in the campground. The road noise due to proximity to the highway is a bit of a bummer, but we slept with white noise and earplugs and were fine. Otherwise peaceful. We floated the Deschutes on a route that ended directly at Big River. One of our sites had a fire pit that did not have a grate for cooking which caused extra work. We enjoyed watching the deer wander through each morning and evening.

This campground is convenient although having one bathroom for all 3 sites isn’t enough. Sites were fine although B and C are pretty close to the road. It was fine and we also had signal.

The location is centrally located which makes it very convenient to visit many places in the area. There were clean vault toilets and garbage receptacles. It is in close proximity to the river though only a couple of the sites have direct access. The road around the campground is very poor with many deep ruts and holes. There are only 10 sites and the one we had made it very difficult to back up a 22 ft trailer.

Campground is pretty rough and rundown. Tables are in rough shape and ours was low to the ground. Lots of road noise although close to the river. And no water, which is noted on the campground description.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
