Fall River is one of our favorite spots to fly fish. Its so clear and especially fun to throw a dry fly and get these big trout to rise! The campground is always clean and quiet and located right on the river. From there its a short walk up to the headwaters, where the river bubbles right out of the ground. The hatchery is nearby as well and is worth a visit to see the operations and to fly fish!

I selected this site without ever having seen it, though I had visited the day use area here before. On the campground map it appeared to have decent distance from other sites and was backed up by the river. However it has ZERO separation from site #7. I pitched my tent on the only level area and it was like 15 feet from site 7's table. Fortunately the campground was relatively empty and I decided to just pay for site 7 as well in order to avoid having a "neighbor" that close. Sites 7 and 8 should really be a single site, maybe for a group. Sites 4, 5, and 6 all have better separation, though 4 and 5 are close to the outhouse. Also, the Forest Service desperately needs to fix the road at this campground, especially the huge drop off the pavement at the entry. For the rest, it's a beautiful place and I might stay here again (though not in site 8), probably again midweek in order to avoid too many neighbors. Yellow jackets were very annoying through much of the day and even at dusk. Toilet is well maintained, but the metal seat is kind of a drag. The host is not very visible but seemed to come through every morning and clean the outhouse.

Great location, large sites and very clean. Was quiet our entire stay. No running water so come prepared.

Very nice close to the river

This is an older Forest Service campground that is in need of some attention. The location is great, but it sorely needs gravel and road repair.

Campground was typical, fire pits include grates.

The campground road needs serious work. The host is non existent and this is from our visit in June and again in Sept. he lights off his generator at 7:00am and leaves, returning at noon or so. Did not see him once in our 4 days this year. He leaves his dog to bark all day in his trailer. Avoid 6 unless you want to listen to his dog and gen set. Great location, great fishing, great guests, filthy toilets and no host presence actually breaking campground rules.

It took a lot to get even closer to level in #7

This is a very dirty campsite and I don’t mean dusty. Yes, it’s extremely dusty even for central Oregon but it’s also littered with trash. The dumpster is literally across from the camp host yet not even the host seems to care at all to clean it up. Not to mention the camp host was basically unavailable the entire time we camped and we actually had an important question upon our arrival. It’s clear the host takes zero pride in his or her role there. Also the restrooms were disgusting. I would never ever stay here again and regret paying $22 to stay to begin with. River is gorgeous but this campground is the pitts.

Beautiful site right on the river. You could see trees that the beavers had cut down or had started to work on which was super cool. The stars were so bright and it was a reasonable 20 minutes from downtown Sunriver and 7 minutes from the fish hatchery which was fun to go drink morning hot chocolate at and feed the fish.

Beautifully campground on the river. Lots of fly-fishers, so must be cautious of flying hooks. I was in the campsite next to the toilet and occasionally could smell it. I still enjoyed everything and will definitely be back.

Great quiet campground. Got a great spot right next to the river

Amazing location for a campsite. Not far from town, so forgotten items were not that big of an issue. The campsite was beautiful and peaceful and nicely spaced out. I would rate this campsite higher if it didn’t have vault toilets. Also there was no water hookups, but being close to town made that a little less overwhelming. I would for sure recommend!

Jess is a great camp host!

Camp host was great. Sites are not as big as stated. Lots of road noise but quiet at night. Wound up in site 8 right at the river.

Location is great but the pit toilet hadn't been cleaned in probably months. Very disappointed.

Loved every minute of it and camp host JR Slade was excellent!

Sites were like camping in a talcum powder bottle. Campground needed more Gravel on roads/ parking areas to mitigate dust.

The camp was clean and close. If you are a fisherman or just like walking along the river, wow! You are right next to one of Central Oregon’s most beautiful rivers. Not for swimming….it’s cold. For the bad: You are not too far off of the road so you have that to contend with, but mostly quite during the night. A lot of the sites are small so if you are coming as a large group and tent camping be careful to get the larger sites. Otherall a good experience.

We camped 100 yards from the river. We had our own path to reach it. Our 27-foot motorhome fit just fine, and it was easy to get level. We stayed mid-week, so it wasn't crowded. The point-to-point trail was nice as well. Our dog loved it. We'd like to return - maybe I'll fish this time.
@AnneC969 · Camped on Jun 21, 2021 at Campsite #11
Never saw the camp host. Not once in 4 days. He was there to fish with his buddies and had no interest in doing his job as a camp host. We brought water, but needed to refill our reusable water container, but absolutely could not find water anywhere in the town nearby. Had to wash the dishes in our melted cooler water! Pit toilets were ok, not too stinky. The campsite was lovely. We just would have liked to see the camp host once in awhile, as we wanted to buy firewood & ask for recommendations about sources of water.

What a lovely campsite! Our site could have fit multiple tents, and it was nice to have extra wiggle room. We loved walking along the river with our pup, and we will definitely be back again!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
