Not enough toilet paper for three days. Thankfully, the cabin has enough room for breakdancing competitions, though. It definitely makes up for the toilet paper situation.

Great little cabin. Steep hike to get there, well worth it.

This cabin, which many of us have been enjoying for decades, may be taken out of the rental system in the future. There is legislation being written to make this area Wilderness, which would be a wonderful way to steward this important habitat. However, it would mean the cabin could not be used as a rental. After a discussion with an employee in the local USFS office, it seems that there is one way to prevent this change for Windy Pass Cabin. If it was written into the legislation to exclude the trail and cabin from the wilderness area, the cabin can remain rentable. I'm writing my representatives (Jon Tester, Steve Daines, Matt Rosendale) to let them know my thoughts.

Funky old cabin but the location couldn’t be better! Views and beautiful and wolves howling and mountain goats and elk and an owl! Night skies!

We LOVED the cabin and the surrounding area! Rd to TH is bumpy. We measured the beautiful hike in at 4 km. The way was easy to find. We brought our own handsaw for cutting firewood but we didn’t need to. The cabin was equipped with one large and one small bowsaw, plus a hatchet and a splitting ax. Firewood must be cut about forearm length to fit in stove. Cabin also has cooking stove but we did not try it. There was a propane lantern, but one must bring fuel for it. We opened the trapdoor and found a stash of dry firewood stashed there, which was good because everything outside was saturated with yesterday’s precipitation. We refilled the trap before departing. We stoked the fire every 2 hours all night to keep it from going out, but those in the loft (where the hear rose) wished we had let the fire die. Too hot. The toilet was hard to find but then what an experience it was esp after a night of heavy snowfall. There were several little streams running near the cabin so we had no problem filtering water.

What a magical place. Could use a deep clean but other than that these cabins cannot be beat.

So after driving up the rocky road to the Windy Pass trail, we hiked up with all our gear only to find out that the Cabin code we received in our confirmation and reminder email did NOT work. While we received a refund for the Cabin, we were very disappointed since this was our anniversary weekend and had been planning this trip for over 6 months. After speaking with a friend, he had the same issue with the Cabin Code not working. Buyer beware...

This cabin is in a great location. There are always lots of wildflowers. Hiking to Eaglehead Peak is certainly worthwhile.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
