This was our first time camping at Basin. We decided to go a day early and spent the first night at a first come first serve site. The next two night were spent at the site we reserved along the river. It was beautiful. The camp hosts are friendly. The campground was clean.

The campsites are always clean. My neighbors are always friendly and quiet in the evenings. Beautiful scenery! We saw a spike buck in velvet! Fresh water from the water pump is always handy. The camp host helped me back up my trailer and made sure I had everything I needed. Its always a great experience!

Beautiful campground. Large camp site. Paved access road & campground loop. Right next to the creek, fishing, hiking, and Red Lodge.

Incredible spot and very nice campground! Spacious, lovely, silent, very well maintained. We loved it. #10 is a wonderful spot at the riverside!

Basin is always a solid bet. It was my very first camping experience (#19) with a Little Guy Rascal, and this was my third year. Clean, well manicured, shaded and the bathrooms even had magazines to read. The camp hosts are friendly and keep an eye on things, but not so closely it was uncomfortable. This year, even though I have a bigger, contained camper and in #21(?), my buddy still trekked over to the bathrooms so he could finish reading an article :) . Highly recommend!

Fill your water tank! Just because recdotgov says water doesnt mean you can fill up there.Also, be ready to get away from it all with everyone else!

I wish all campgrounds could have hosts like you had at Basin and Cascade this summer. They are friendly and make contact with each camper. The campgrounds were very clean. Ronda and John are awesome!!

Lovely primitive campground. Sites are a good distance apart. Next to a beautiful mountain stream/river. Hiking and biking nearby and a 10 minute, breathtakingly gorgeous drive from Red Lodge. Friendly camp hosts (2023 season)

I had a great time camping here. The camp hosts were very helpful. I particularly enjoyed fly fishing in Rock Creek which is adjacent to the campground. There were rainbows and brown trout. Also the nearby town of Red Lodge is very nice. A good outfitter, several good restaurants, a coffee shop and grocery store.

Very pretty atmosphere. Creek runs through the campground. The campground host Rhonda was so nice and brought us the fire wood so we didn't have to carry it. The other campers were helpful when our grandson was stung by a bee. Definitely a place we will return to.

Only minor irritation was barking dog at campsite directly across from our site.

The campground is beautiful, a typical National Forest campground in the pines, surrounded by mountains. Campsite #19, however, is not so good. We have a 25' camper, bumper to hitch, and while we had plenty of room for the camper and tow vehicle, the picnic table and fire pit were on the WRONG SIDE! So we had to walk around our camper to access the campsite. We have never encountered that situation. Also, the actual site for the trailer was built up with some sort of small rocks and dirt mix. So once we exited the camper it was all downhill and the mix they used to build up the pad was very slippery, as the rocks and dirt would slide under your feet. Not only did I slip on it but the camp host also did, as well as some visiting fellow campers! This is treacherous footing for anyone not exactly agile or even aware of the problem. And forget it if you have your hands full carrying food, etc. out to the picnic table! Someone needs to put in some steps, either with landscape timbers or large flat rocks.

Great campground. Clean, spacious, quiet, and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. Fire pit, picnic table, and food lockers at each camp site. Very close to hiking trails and a small fishing lake with easy access.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
