Nice campground and pretty well taken care of but the camphost, Jim, can be a pain. Between blocking the loop road to clean the bathroom to telling us we couldn't have two "sleeper vans" at the same site, even though nobody was sleeping in the vans and we booked adjacent sites, he really got on our nerves. Other than that, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Our experience at Laguna campground is always a wonderful place to camp. Our site was big enough for our truck and trailer. The only complaint is the sharp corners of the sites to make the proper turns to back into the spaces. The post are very different to keep from hitting them. I wish the would relocate them for a smoother transition to back into. You not only have to pay attention to the site youre backing into but also the front of your vehicle not to hit the post across the road, very tight.

Laguna campground is a beautiful spot and well kept. Great hiking trails close by.

I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Laguna Campground in Cleveland National Forest. After years of visiting and enjoying this beautiful area, my family and I were shocked by the rude and unprofessional treatment we received from the campground hosts, Jim Delwall and Pheone Caldwell, during our stay on October 4th.We had reserved campsite 78, an area we've camped at many times before without any issues. Shortly after we began setting up, two workers approached us and rudely informed us that we could not stay because the site was "reserved for motorhomes only." Moments later, Mrs. Caldwell stormed over, shouting and demanding that we move immediately. When I tried to explain that we had camped in this loop before and were unaware of any rule changes, she refused to listen and continuously interrupted me.Mrs. Caldwell made an insensitive and dismissive comment, telling us we could only stay if we "went and bought a real RV" the next morninga ridiculous and offensive statement, especially if someone doesn't have the financial means to do so. When I pointed out that the campground was not busy, with many empty spots around, she claimed that many campers would arrive in the morning, contradicting the campground's rule that prohibits reserving sites without occupying them.What made this encounter even worse was seeing other campers in tents and trucks in the same area where we were supposedly not allowed to stay. Clearly, Mrs. Caldwell picks and chooses which rules to enforce.This entire experience ruined what was supposed to be a relaxing weekend for my family. I would strongly advise anyone considering this campground to think twice, as the current hosts are rude, discriminatory, and clearly lack customer service skills. Until this issue is resolved, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this campground.

Beautiful and spacious site! The flush toilet is only located at the center of the entire camping facility, while the toilets at each loop are vault toilets, but they are clean. Tap water is available, but its a spigot, so bringing your own bucket is recommended if you need to wash dishes. Our site was stunning, but it was downwind of a vault toilet, which occasionally caused an odor when the wind blew in our direction. There were multiple patrols by the camp host and staff, and we felt extremely welcomed and safe.

Well maintained sites, friendly hosts, and good hiking. Bathrooms smell atrocious!

We've always loved this campground and brought our kids here all the time when they were growing up. Fast forward, and kids are out of the house which has allowed us to do some longer trips as of late. Because of that, we had sort of forgotten about Laguna until recently. Coming back is like reuniting with an old friend. We're older so can come here on weekdays, so our perspective may be skewed a bit, but we love it here. It's always relatively quiet and the hosts are very professional and thorough. We love the proximity to Julian and Anza Borrego as well as the PCT and many other hiking trails.

I was disappointed when I got to the "visitor" center and there was no one there. I then tried all the phone numbers listed on the locked door and the bulletin board. No one answered any of them, not even the Ranger station.

Great experience, would have been a 5 star if the neighboring campground (Horse Haven) managed by the US Forrest Service did not allow concerts/raves/festivals/wedding events on their property. A professional DJ setup, complete with generators to power the professional production, and concert grade speakers could be heard a mile or so away as the thumping bass traveled thru the meadow.

We have camped and hiked at Laguna since the early '80's and have never had anything less than a 5 Star experience until this recent trip, which started with the booking experience. I booked and paid for Site 86, without realizing it had now been designated for "Large" RV's over 30'. Ours is less than 30', so I used the website to change the reservation to Site 75, which was successful. When we arrived, there was someone else's name on Site 75. On our way to the Camp Host we saw that 77 was available. We explained all of the above, and suggested we just move to Site 77, and the Host told used that we would have to pay to use site 77, even though we already paid for Site 75. It seemed that the booking system failed to record our change to site 75, even though I have a receipt and email proof, so our name was still on Site 86. At this point the host became completely unreasonable, so I told her that we would just go ahead and take 86, even though we were "too small" at 21'. We took about 30 minutes to level the RV, and set up camp. At this point the Host and her husband came by to inform us that we would have to move to Site 77! I told them we previously suggested that and were told we would have to pay again. They apologized and explained that now we would not have to pay. I told them we already set up and moving would be a big inconvenience, but that I would move the next day. They would not relent and insisted I pack up and movie immediately. At this point I asked about the policy of allowing "big" RV's to book any site in the campground, and to also have an entire section set-aside just for them as well. This is a fairly new, and very economically biased policy that penalizes those who do not have a large RV. I asked if a large RV were to book a spot outside the special area, would they be moved in the manner I was being moved for being too small. they said absolutely yes. so we ended up moving to Site 77 as requested. I am out of space, but this gets worse.

Space 35 was great. It has a lot of space, shade, and it's right next to the vault bathrooms. We hardly dealt with any wind and any kind of noise. It was peaceful. If you want the bathrooms with showers, those are available a short walk up or a few more spaces up. Cell phone reception is bad in this spot if that is something that matters to you. We went camping from Sept 11 - 13 and there were quite a bit of squirrels around. Bring strong containers or coolers for your food. There were also lots of holes in the ground from the squirrels in our spot but they didn't interfere with anything. We would definitely come to this spot again.

The road is very tight for large trailers. The railroad ties need to be moved away from the parking / camping spots and corners where you turn in at a minimum. I and others trying to camp were having issues getting their trailers backed in.

I have visited this area many, many times, including the camping site during the daytime, in different seasons. I have had extremely good impressions. This was the first time I camped at night, and I thought this should be an ideal place to watch the Perseid Meteor shower. Indeed, the sky here was dark enough for meteor shower watching, although there were some clouds that day.My biggest complaint is the noise. A group of campers were singing, laughing, and shouting loudly after 10 pm. They were even walking around with bright lights and singing, as if they were the only ones there. Around 10:40 pm, they finally became quiet, but this was not the end. In the middle of the night, a group of campers, I was not sure if they were the same group I mentioned before, started to make a huge amount of noise again. They even loudly knocked some metal objects. Throughout the night, there were no staff members patrolling the site to remind them to keep quiet.Ironically, the next morning at 9 am, when I returning to my car from the restroom, I found staff members patrolling the site, just having placed a ticket on my car window. They thought I was a new visitor who had just arrived in the morning. If only they had been as active at night, I wouldn't have had such a terrible experience.

The campsite and restrooms were super clean and the camp hosts were very friendly. We took our 6 year old grandson on his first camping trip and he thought it was the greatest experience ever.

Nicely Wooded area. The entire park is dry camping. My biggest complaint is the 8x8 posts planted along every bit of roadway and site to keep anyone from going an inch off the pavement. They represent a serious hazard to your RV if you accidentally veer off even a small bit. They do have a loop dedicated to full size RVs only. Shady loop and Meadow loop have good spots for average RVs. I had expected that being in the mountains it would be cooler, but that's not the case...it was hot and we didn't want to run the generator more than necessary so we had no AC. One Campground host was friendly, the other not so much. Sites near the bathrooms and dumpsters had an odor depending on wind direction and whether or not the sunshine was powering the exhaust fans. Sites were large and spacious. Vault toilets were clean. There are two bathrooms that have showers, one centrally located. There are lots of long hikes available in the area. We had two sites that shared a grassy area between them so it was great for our grandkids to play and run between us and their parents. NO Verizon service inside the park.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
