We tent camp every summer on Wanaki Loop. The beach is so beautiful and easy access to the water. I was a bit disappointed this time with the state of the restroom/shower facilities though. They are getting very rundown. The women's shower didn't work and neither did the lock on one of the two bathroom stalls. Overall though it's a beautiful campsite.

My wife's family has been camping at Wanaki for the last 25 years, so we know the campground very well.We plan to continue going every year, although the toilet / shower building is showing it's age.For many years, the same camp host returned every year, until last year.The hosts this year were not very good. Part of their job is to keep the toilet / shower building clean. It wasn't. The extent of the spider webs over the men's room vanity made it clear that it hadn't been cleaned in some time.When my sister in law asked the host when they would be cleaned next, she said they only get paid $25 per day, so they clean only on Tuesdays & Thursdays. My sister in law noted that it was Friday & both the men's & women's toilet rooms were filthy. The host apparently lost track of what day it was & an hour or so later cleaned the toilet rooms - minimally.I would suggest not having these hosts back next year & making all other National park campground managers aware that these hosts should be avoided unless they want complaints.

My favorite camping site. Have been going there for years but this was the first time back since the storm. Sorry to see the change to the Cass Lake Loop. Someone made a very bad decision there. The campground is starting to show its age but is still my favorite.

We are a large family and have camped at Wanaki for 20 years in 3 or more campsites. We have always enjoyed the bike trails, visitor center, easy access beach, privacy, cleanliness, and quiet.

Very nice campground. Just irritated me that the bathrooms did not have hand soap or hand sanitizer. When I asked the campground host he said “usually it is brought in or left by the campers.” Didn’t know I need to supply that for me n the other campers.

My first time to this campground and I had heard so many good things from a friend who had visited this location about 20 years ago over the course of several summers. The location is awesome with the access to Cass Lake with mature trees in a forest setting. However, it appears there are several permanent residents located within the park that was reflected in the amount of items stored at their campsite and by "their" beach. All of the trails we walked along had trash beside them which is something I have never seen to this level in a national park. I stopped to use a restroom and there was a used hypodermic needle floating in the toilet and noticed in the trash there was other drug paraphernalia located there as well. I started looking closer during our visit and there was similar items in other bathrooms close to our site. I have traveled and camped all across the United States and National Parks have always been a safe place to recreate in a clean and well kept environment. Sad, but not the case here. Not sure what to think. Went there with my grand children and wouldn't take them back to that environment.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
