Spent long weekend at Horse Camp for a get together with a group and some fishing in Clear Creek and Whiskeytown area. Great location and large sites. Only issues were not lot of flat spots for tents and occasional speeders on the first road that cuts through middle of two sites. But overall, liked the sites alot and will be back

It's a great spot with tons of parking. It's nice to be away from all the other campers, however, you will get a decent amount of cars, bicyclists, and hikers passing by.

Quiet, beautiful location. Water spigot nearby. Toilet area was very well kept and clean. Great place to camp for hiking and kayaking.

Plenty of space in Site 1

Quiet and spacious. Beautiful area and beautiful site. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Bear boxes in good working order. I didn't see any bear but I saw deer and foxes. The fox know where you cook and where to find scraps or anything you leave unattended for a minute. So beware of them. They're so cute but don't let them have your food! Lots of shady trees. Huge site but not a huge amount of level space, bring your levelers. I only stayed one night since I was just passing through. I'd love to go back!

I’ve been going here about 8 years. It’s one of my favorite spots, and I can bring my trailer

Our experience other than a couple cars driving through it was very quiet and dark for great star viewing. There was plenty of space. Overall we had a great time.

Toilets! I have 3 daughters so this helped a lot. We stayed in a Tent and while you couldn't find a perfectly level spot, we managed to make it work. You have 2 sites. Site 1 looks like a better spot for RTT/car camping. You can park a lot closer than you can at #2. There is a walking trail that begins at camp2 and continues to guardian rock. The walk to overlook is a sidewalk, continue trail is dirt and loose rock. We did not see any vehicles or people during our trip. We saved this as one of our favorites in the area.

Pleasantly surprised! We just loved the quiet, the STARS and how clean it was here. Lots of things to do here! We explored! Went to Whiskeytown Falls and Crystal Creek Falls. So Beautiful! We will be back. Thank you for having a bathroom so close!

We didn't stay at the camp site. We have never visited this area before and when I made the reservations online it didn't say that it was a remote campsite. When we (my son 12 and myself) I didn't feel comfortable or safe to camp at this site. Now I'm trying to get a refund and it's almost impossible.

Nice and secluded with one 2 spots. However, a dirt road that leads to a couple of small towns is frequented at various times of the day/evening, and the vehicles speed through there, kicking up dust and dirt.

The bugs were awful! The mosquitoes were so bad and their bites hurt that we actually had to pack up and leave. It is an ok spot but there are probably prettier spots in the area near/overlooking the water.

The only knock was our first night the bathroom door became locked and wasn’t opened until Monday (2 nights later). Once it was opened it was still set to be locked anytime it was closed so we set out a rock hoping that others would understand not to shut the door when they left. Otherwise the campsite was clean and great to use.

Beautiful hikes close by, bathrooms were locked & therefore unusable, somewhat isolated (only two spots, no host) but not remote per se
@frankb794 · Camped on Apr 7, 2021 at Campsite #1
Very remote. I was the only human camping at the site.
@MikiY848 · Camped on Feb 17, 2021 at Campsite #1
We only camped for one night. The site was super clean with really nice bathrooms and water. Would recommend for sure.

So this campground was a last minute/last resort option due to all of the campgrounds closing in and around Yosemite. There weren't many reviews for it and I was a bit nervous to take others here with such little information to go off of but decided to just go for it. The bottom line is, this campground is fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anybody. It's located near the Whiskeytown Recreation Area but its quite a bit out of the way tucked into the hills. It's a mix of paved and dirt roads and while you don't necessarily need high clearance or anything, I wouldn't drive a nice car to this spot. The campground itself is simple and straightforward with only two sites that are on opposite sides of a clearing from each other. We stayed at Campsite 001 and had two tables, a firepit, and two large bear lockers. The two sites share a vault toilet that was perfectly clean and had toilet paper. Our site was on a bit of a slope but that didn't really impact our tent/sleeping situation all that much. It was honestly very well kept. We decided to adventure out to around Mt. Shasta/Weed and it's a bit of a drive but certainly still doable. Overall, I'd highly recommend this spot to anyone interested in staying around this area.

Surrounded by burn trees and looks like abandoned place and nobody was there and could find the camp site exactly using google maps. Winter is not the right time to go there .

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
