Need to get rid of the generator & get quiet electricity. Staff are great. Park hosts & rangers were very nice.

Nice open space saw some interesting looking trails on the way out should work for MTB or Gravel Bikes, arrive before dark if possible as no street lighting in the campsite.

Beautiful campground, peaceful even with the generator running. Minus 1 star for the cold shower : (

Enjoyable trails with nice camping area. Clean washrooms and well maintained grounds. They had some power and water issues but setup a big generator to provide power while they worked through the issues. They have a big wind generator and solar panels but the wind generator appeared to be halted. Crazy windstorm overnight with wind so strong that I had trouble walking around. I look forward to returning on the summer with better weather.

site was closed. we had even verified a few times, i think the web site linked 2 locations to Buckhorn. they sold us a reservation for one and set us up for another that was not open. i don't even know how to dispute, it was not a good experience and i have low trust in this system.

Get rid of that dammed generator. How long will you let that thing go 24/7. Incompetent oafs. Army Core of Engineers.
@JanetO4DB059C0 · Camped on Dec 4, 2024 at Campsite #3
This campground is in a beautiful setting with a huge area of native oak savannah, great birdwatching, and trails. HOWEVER, there is a loud generator running 24/7, right adjacent to the campground, which totally ruined our experience. There is no warning about this on their website, or we would not have come here. In a normal campground, generators are required to be turned off during quiet hours, and this one is significantly louder than any RV generator. We were told it is to run the bathroom. Really? Install a vault toilet and let people use a flashlight. The bathroom is run down anyway (plumbing issues) and needs an overhaul.

Great place on the lake. Quiet and nice place to visit

The Army Corps of Engineers is a noteworthy organisation, but Buckhorn Lake park does not reflect this. The bathrooms are foul, the showers are more or less unusable, the water pressure is low, and many of the bathrooms have only emergency lighting. The tables are effaced and could use a good cleaning. The railings and steps are decayed. Yes, it is cheap, 20 dollars, and formerly 18 dollars a night, but one does not want to stay since it is so dismal.

It was a clean campsite, it had good bathrooms with showers. It was very gorgeous.

The sites were awesome! However, the toilet facilities were not! The bathrooms ran out of toilet paper on the second day of our trip and we had to go into town to buy some for the next two days. One of the toilets in the main bathrooms was clogged in the men's bathroom and unusable. No one came around to check them or clean during the period we were there. On the bright side we didn't allow that to affect our time there and had an amazing time! The sites were clean and the camp was awesome!! We will be back again!! One of our favorite places to visit!! Thank You!!

There was a large generator being used by the campground operators at Buckhorn. It was terribly noisy and forced us to move to escape the noise. Greatly impacted our experience in a negative way.

The Buckhorn Recreation Area is a quiet and convenient place for an overnight stay, especially for those visiting Lassen Volcanic National Park. Although there is no electricity at the campsite, this doesnt pose a significant issue for most visitors. The facilities include a clean restroom with water and lighting, as well as a shower room, which adds convenience to the stay.Its worth noting that only one area within the campground allows for car camping, so be mindful of this when making reservations. The lack of generator noise contributes to a peaceful atmosphere, making it easy to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.Overall, Buckhorn Recreation Area is a great option for a tranquil overnight experience close to nature, with easy access to essential amenities.

After parking in space 13 at Buckhorn as we had several times over the last 17 years, we were told that that we had to reposition in the opposite direction. This put our door on the street side instead of the 'picnic' side with a view of the dump site instead of the lake. VERY DISAPPOINTING! Or we could search for another site online. So we will not be using 13 again.

Beautiful surprise of a campground. Almost empty of people. Good stargazing . Water level low in October. Clean bathrooms. Many of the sites are not level at all, but we moved to am empty level site after talking to the host.

It would have been really nice to know that the water and electric were shut off before we arrived. It was especially disappointing to find out it had been off for TWO MONTHS before our reservation.

Everything was good as expected. I enjoyed the stay.Only suggestion is to trim up a few low limbs at the entry to the hill to avoid rv damage.thanksJack

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
