So incredibly beautiful. The wildflowers were like walking through a Monet painting. The expansive view from the cabin is amazing. Keep in mind the cabin is surrounded by shallow water. It would have been 5 stars but 2 adults and 1 dog went through 3 cans of mosquito repellent and we were feeling pretty gross by the end. I still rate it as one of the most beautiful places I have camped. Even with the cabin as close to the road as it is we seldom had people come by.( it was the middle of the week though). Star were so clear. We had the milky way every night. The mosquito quit around 8:30 so the campfire was perfect. The cabin is in good shape and people are cleaning up after themselves. I have some great pictures I am going to try to add to the site. We shall see. The 2 trailheads down the road toward Labarge are worth hiking and we didn't see another soul. Little corral trailhead is an easy hike along a fun stream amd seems to be used more for horseback riding but we found very pleasant. If you come prepared for the mosquitos you will find it the perfect place. 1 more thing. The road is very rocky and rutted. If you take your time it is fine but the last 20 miles we were only averaging about 10 Mph. That was up the Labarge side.

The cabin was in excellent shape, the overall cleanliness was good. The location can’t be beat, it is a beautiful setting surrounded by spectacular scenery. The USFS has done an exceptional job of upkeep of this historic building, the area is well maintained and the amenities were amazing for an isolated backcountry cabin. I appreciate the propane stove and refrigerator, a real plus for an extended stay

Thanks to Rick at USFS office in Kemmerer, we had the trip of a lifetime. Early/1st of season up La Barge Creek to the Cabin at Tri-Basin, top of the world, then down the Grey’s River to Alpine, about -100 miles. (Watch the rivers grow) Lots of wildlife, springs and streams everywhere. Great Cabin at the top in the meadows.

This is the second time we've stayed at the LaBarge Guard Station in the winter, and we absolutely love it! This cabin is perfect and remote enough to make a few night sled trip a lot of fun. My buddies and I like to sled to this locations, use the lodge as a home base for a couple or a few nights of sledding and snowboarding. The beds are comfortable, the cabin is always in great shape, and it's just an all around great way to escape life and recharge your batteries for a few days. THANK YOU WYOMING!

Amazing location, great little cabin. The 'high clearance vehicle' suggestion is no joke, though! It took nearly 3 hours to get to the cabin from Alpine (50ish miles away) as the unpaved road is quite rough in spots. Absolutely worth it, but just be prepared.

There was no firewood available at the cabin. We had to use snowmobiles to get our own.

For the cheap price this was an awesome stay. Really cant beat it. It's an old cabin so dont expect too much. But if you wanna get away from town and people...this is a great place. Propane heater did not work. Very low supply of firewood. Highly recommend.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
