Beautiful site with a nice shoreline for the kids to swim and for fishing. Campsite was clean and cared for. Only giving 4 stars because I really think people need to know what they should expect when going. These are not big spots and going in with an RV or trailer is no joke. This was our first trip to Deadwood, and even as experienced campers, it was not easy. Please be aware of road conditions and find out your best route beforehand (huge shout-out to Deadwood Outfitters for answering questions), and scout your site before going. We were lucky in that we reserved a spot that accommodated our trailer, but there are many that say that they do, but clearly do not! Otherwise, very beautiful!

The campsite was lovely, but our neighboring campers were unfortunately really noisy. If we returned, we'd try to avoid a weekend.

Toilet paper was out in the bathroom the entire time, and the campground was almost empty

We had three spots reserved. Only one spot was marked and the other two had people in them. No camp host and no ranger. We all jammed into one spot hoping to get it fixed the next day. No ranger or host the next day half our party had to leave due to space issue. Then the next day we left early due to it. Tried calling but had issues with over a hour wait times and such.

The campsites were filled with small bits of trash. The bathrooms were out of toilet paper for 2 of the 4 days. Our ranger seemed overworked and grumpy. We had exceptionally obnoxious neighbors and camp rules were not adhered to by all of the other campers at the site (i.e. quiet hours, dogs off leash and roaming the campground). There was also shooting going off from another location each night between 10 pm and midnight. There was frequent non campsite visitors to the bathroom with a lot of ATV traffic. The location of the campsite, next to the calm river at the opening of the reservoir was a beautiful place to stay and I enjoyed kayaking in the calmer waters.

Beautiful campsite with easy access to the lake. It was relaxing and peaceful, but it's a long, dusty, bumpy road to get there. Be prepared.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
