It's our favorite campground. The spots are large, lots of trees around, clean bathrooms, and it's very peaceful.

We have stayed at here four different times this year. The camp host was always friendly and helpful. Even helping use repair our camper by giving us some screws. The camp sites are clean and the area is beautiful. We recommend staying here.

Site was not as expected from the description or pictures. Difficult to utilize with my truck camper and utility trailer. Pit toilets nearly unusable. Dirty and horrible fly problem. Good base for exploring with the SxS.

Beautiful campsite. Within walking distance to Deerfield lake and a view of it from some of the campsites. Well maintained and cared for. Best part was there were no bugs at any point of our trip

We spent 5 nights at Dutchman. The outhouse was never cleaned during our stay. There were empty toilet rolls on the floor on day one and where still there when we left. Also, why do the campground host come to you as soon as you pull in. They should let you get back in and setup before coming to you. It's like they sit there and watch for people to drive in. You make your reservations online to they know you have already paid.

Great sites, lots of shade. Not a lot of bugs when we visited the second week of July. Camp host Curtis is awesome, will deliver firewood to your site.

Quiet campground and beautiful site. Good view of the sunset over the reservoir.

Due to my preference for reserved status rather than the gamble of first come first serve, I had to reserve two sites to make my 13 day stay. We secured site 26 for 8 nights and 27 for 5 nights. Both are amazing sites, very spacious and have mostly level spots for a couple of tents. 26 has a better view of the lake, but 27 is more shaded and closer to the bathroom. Camp host Curtis went above and beyond to ensure I could charge my phone without draining my car battery dead, he was very helpful and thoughtful. He gave us many ideas of things to see and do, and though we mostly just went to the lake with our kayaks to explore and fish, his recommendation to use the laundry at Mountain Meadows was very helpful to us long- stay campers.

We had a great time and our camp host Curtis was awesome and very helpful.

Camp host (Curtis) went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a good experience. After the initial recommendations for things to do in the area, he came up with more ideas and recommendations to help match what we were looking for as tent campers that were staying for 13 days (nearby showers and laundry). He came to our rescue a couple of times by giving the car battery a jump start.

The only thing that I didn't like was the map has the bathrooms located in different locations than they actually are.

Very quiet campground with close access to the lake. Lots of shade cover, picnic table, restrooms and trash cans. There are fire pits and plenty of space at each site for tents or campers. I have stayed here a few times over the last 5 years and have always enjoyed the experience.

This campground was beautifully laid out, spacious sites with plenty of room between them. Only complaint was lack of a bathroom anywhere near the two sites we rented. We were at sites 11 & 13 and couldnt have been farther from any of the three bathrooms. Unfortunately they dont show where water and bathrooms are on the map so we had no idea being from CO. But we made due and enjoyed every minute at our campsite. We saw deer from our spots almost daily and could see the lake from the nearest water valve. Camp host was knowledgeable and kind and kept the bathroom we used clean and stocked. Other campers were quiet polite and friendly and we had no complaints. Would definitely recommend and would most definitely stay at this campground again if we decide to explore more of SD. The lake nearby was beautiful although we only got to explore it once as we had so much to do. Campground is located near many tourist features so we spent the 9 days seeing all we could. Truly pleased with our stay, thank you from CO!

Great campground host! We also appreciated the generous space between sites - plenty of privacy. Beautiful lake and trails in the area. No Verizon cell service - which we did not mind. And also noted that most people did not use generators even though there is no electric. The silence sounded lovely.

Love this area of the Black Hills. Dutchman is a quiet campground that has ample space between sites. The campground host is very helpful, too! Highly recommend!

We LOVED this campground! It was quiet, beautiful and the campsites were spaced far enough apart that we didn't feel we were on top of our neighbors. It was remote and had no cell service, which for us was a huge bonus as we really got to have some much needed downtime from the real world!The lake was beautiful and did about 9 miles of the hike around it. The only reason that I'm not giving this 5 stars is because the bathrooms were pretty gross. Thankfully I had brought a potty bucket so it cut down on the trips necessary. Aside from the outdated bathrooms, we would still go back.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
