Our camp host Eric was fantastic! The bathrooms were extremely clean, everything was easy to find from the main road, and the captions was well maintained and clean. Absolutely fantastic!

Campground host Eric was very welcoming and helpful; we enjoyed meeting and chatting (learning) from him. He keeps the grounds well managed and bathrooms cleaned/well supplied. Sites are good size and well separated. Campground is close to Rt 16 but noise was minimal and non-existent at night. We enjoyed our our two nights very much.

Great option for seeing this area. Great location for so many sights. Helpful host. Pit toilets were clean (no showers, as noted). Tidy campsite.

Nice campground, friendly host, close by to jewel cave and wind cave.

The camp site are spread out nicely so you are not on top of your neighbor. The campground is in dire need of an upgrade; extremely old vault toilets and some of the site shave large rocks, tree stumps, or trees impeding the use of awnings and patio mats.Beware: Sites 20 and 19 on the map are actually backwards at the campground. Site 20 is site 19 on the map and visa versa.

we had a great stay at Comanche Park Campground. We Actually came back and stayed 12 days more at a first come first serve site.The host was professional, courteous, available and a bit fun. He takes pride in the campground and worked hard to make a camping experience at Comanche the best he could.The campground was clean and well cared for. lots of privacy due to the layout. And a bonus for us, not very crowded.Logistics of this campground was perfect for us. Relatively close to Custer and many trails within walking distance from campground.Downside was no network, and that was actually good for us Once we got used to it.Thank you Eric For the wonderful stay.

Very well maintained camp. Camp is very quiet at night. Very close to Custer to do things. The camp host, Eric, was very attentive and kept the park in great order. I would certainly stay here again.

Clean and quiet campground. Lots of space. It was a pinch difficult to get our trailer in with some of the larger rocks but we managed.

Quaint little campground in a good location. Camp host Margret does a great job in providing information about the area and good supply of fire wood.Hiked lower part of Hells Canyon and took Needles drive. Recommended you visit Black Hills candles next door!

This is a nice campground on the western edge of the Black Hills National Forest. It is handy to Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, Custer State Park, etc. The campsites were level and spacious.

We love Comanche Park camp ground. The spacing is good, the scenery is great and Kim, the host is very helpful! We do not need hook-ups, the bathrooms are kept clean and it is close to town. We usually see deer in the mornings. Very peaceful relaxing camp! DON'T CHANGE A THING!
@JonathanB16578 · Camped on Aug 27, 2023 at Campsite #22
Nice Campground but don't expect any cell service. Also, bring hand sanitizer as the vault toilets don't have any.
@stevenb5011158 · Camped on Aug 5, 2023 at Campsite #12
Minimal privacy between all the sites but the pads are pretty level and it's a peaceful campground.

A quiet little park, exactly as advertised. The camp hostess was friendly and helpful. Well placed to visit Jewel Cave, Wind Cave, and Custer State Park. Custer has a cute little downtown area that was a pleasant place to spend a rainy afternoon.
@GarysG544A44CC · Camped on Aug 3, 2023 at Campsite #27
Very peaceful, no bugs, clean bathrooms, nice sites and Kim was a great host.

We were looking for an inexpensive base in the Custer area and Comanche fit the bill. It appears this is an older Forest Service campground and would not be friendly for large rigs. The campground loop road is narrow with trees near the sides. Well-trimmed -- there were no low-hanging branches -- but necessary to carefully watch the sides.Campground host was A+++++.Site we reserved (33) was large enough for our 35 ft fifth-wheel, but boulders on the road made it impossible to maneuver into the spot. Campground host moved us to a different spot (31) and it was fine.Campground road is fairly rutted and rough; appears to be time for a little "road repair".Great location for Custer, Custer State Park, Wind Cave, Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse, Hill City, Mount Rushmore and Jewel Cave. Easy access to all of the above.

This is a pleasant campground located between the town of Custer and Jewel Cave National Monument. Also an easy drive to all attractions in the southern Black Hills. In addition to the cave tours, I would strongly recommend the excellent above=ground hiking trails in the park. Free admission.

One of our favorite campgrounds. It is beautiful and peaceful here and our favorite place to relax while exploring the black hills. The host was super helpful with suggestions for the area and even with some help to get our camper water heater up and going again.

Campsite is very nice. Very quite at night. We were able to sleep comfortably in our tent. Nice tree cover. Bathroom was very clean, but just a little bit more smelly than usual, could have been the heat. Camp host was nice. We stayed here four 5 days. It's nicely located between rapid city, hot springs and basically anything we wanted to do, was about 45 minutes to an hour and a half away. Definitely would stay here again.
@LydiaL9120045 · Camped on Jun 29, 2023 at Campsite #20
This was a convenient location to sightseeing Custer & the state park. We also drove to Mt Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Monument. Pit toilets were clean, water available. Camp Host was extremely rude and let her dog run loose and didn't enforce any of the rules. Dogs were barking, and tied outside alone all day. Tree cover is nice.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
