The camp hosts (Karen and Gordon) keep the camp so beautiful! Most hardworking hosts ever! Plenty of firewood available and beautiful setting along the river with lots of mature trees. No cell service, but an emergency phone is available at the entrance. Great quiet getaway!

The campground hosts made our camping experience the best, providing everything from manicured campsites to clean peppermint scented restrooms. Plus, the added benefit of sense detectors outside and inside the restrooms, which was a great convenience on those dark campground nights.The hosts were friendly and kind and would welcome a variety of questions. I would recommend the Alta campground to anyone seeking peace and quiet in a beautiful setting!

The best maintained campground weve been to. The camp hosts (for the last handful of years) kept amazingly clean outhouses, picked up debris and provided great info on the area. Wonderful experience!

Very nice, very well kept campground with virgin Ponderosa Pine trees. Pit toilets were cleaned daily, at least, and really nice campground hosts. Many of the sites have long driveways.Note the campground is located 29 miles off of US93, but the State Highway that leads to it is in pretty good shape. There are some hiking opportunities south of the campground, but two of the trails require a wet foot crossing of the West Fork of the Bitterroot River. Back up towards US 93, there are several USFS roads that lead to trailheads for the high country. If you want to get away from it all, this is YOUR place.

This campground is one of the best in Montana. It is exceptionally clean especially the bathrooms!! The campground hosts Gordon and Karen, are friendly and do a wonderful job of keeping everything in tip top condition. I will continue to come back here in the future.

This is the third time we've stayed at this campground and it was great, as always. Hosts Chris and Karen are kind, efficient and knowledgeable. Sites are clean and raked. The two vault toilets are clean and smell fresh. Sites are spaced well apart. We madereservations this time so we could get our favorite site.

This campground is super clean and well maintained. There were pet waste disposal bags at every site. All sites were spaced apart from each other and the vault bathrooms were very clean. This campground is only 15 minuites south of the boat launch areas for Painted Rocks Lake. Hughes Creek was a short walk from our site. Very enjoyable 5 days! Thanks camp hosts for your attention to detail!

We stayed at Alta twice in August of 2022, in sites #6 and #10. This is an amazingly beautiful campground with sites well spaced and clean vaulted toilets. Site #6 has a path behind it to the river (West Fork of Bitterroot) and there is a day use area just past #10 for river access. The hosts, Chris and Karen, are great- friendly and knowledgeable about the area and they keep the campground clean and raked. Alta is right on Hwy 473, but the highway noise is minimal and easily drowned out by the river. We highly recommend Alta- but it does fill up on weekends.

Such a beautiful area! Great spacing between sites, warm camp hosts, and clean bathrooms. My only complaint was the lack of bear boxes on site.

It was very quiet as it was towards the end of the season. Each spot is raked and each has doggie pick up bags-which I think was above and beyond, but understandable. And as with all the other responses, the vault toilets were well cleaned and minty fresh. thank you for such great camp hosts. They really do a great job.

The campground host's Gordon and Karen(I believe) were very nice and helpful. All the sites were clean and ready for the next set of campers. Everything was clean and in working order. Will love to stay here again.

The hosts of the campground are very awesome! Their maintenance of each site, the restrooms, the garbage and the water spigots is top notch. All the small touches they’ve added are greatly appreciated. They are also incredibly nice and full of useful information. We will be back next year for sure!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
