Shell Creek was everything we hoped it would be and more. We can't wait to visit the area again!

Camp hosts were nice and accommodating. We loved our time there fishing and enjoying the little bit of disconnect from the world. We will be back again!

It was beautiful and really enjoyed sitting by the creek. It would get very windy. The dirt flying around was blinding. Bathrooms were clean.I was a little concerned that even though we had reservations, our site said open. Luckily we didn't have to run anybody out. But when we were getting ready to leave, a car driving by wanted our site. I hope no one had it reserved.

Our family has been camping, fishing, hiking, and viewing wildlife for well over thirty years. We have a favorite site and appreciate the hosts work to make us comfortable. Spectacular beauty and peace in the Big Horns!

Very happy with the campground and very friendly/helpful hosts. Campground was clean and beautiful. Website description was perfectly accurate. I was however disappointed that so many trails were closed as we drove 1000 miles to Wyoming with the sole purpose of ATVing in the Bighorn Mountains. Not sure how we could have found out ahead of time that the trails were closed.

This is the sixth year in a row that we have camped the third week of June at Shell Creek. The fishing is good, the wildflowers are magnificent, and the scenery is breathtaking. The campground is small and quiet, because it's away from the highway. We plan to go back next June.

Nice tent site by the creek. Lovely late afternoon walk along the creek. Helpful camp hosts.

Absolutely gorgeous area. Site was clean and close to the water. Bathrooms clean. No firewood for purchase that I could see and none laying around but with the weather beautiful I didn’t care to build a fire anyway. Love Wyoming

Camp lot: 15 - Big Tent The spot was great for a tent in cooler temperatures. Has Full Sun. You can hear the creek faintly in the distance. the two restrooms we visited were kept very clean and had deodorizers in them to keep them smelling fresh. Dale and Lauretta were kind and very friendly. Dale was nice enough to take our big garbage from our site to the dump in his gator and Lauretta stopped by and gave us some unbelievable delicious homemade treats! I recommend going to see Shell Falls which is really close to the campground. 7 miles away takes about 15 - 20 min to get there by vehicle.

Very beautiful little valley, a good distance from any Highway noise and not far from a stunning canyon. Most sites had great access to the shady stream side along Shell Creek. Some are quite exposed to sun.

Beautiful campground. The running creek was amazing and shaded. Hosts were really nice. Drive was a little rough in our motorhome but well worth it. Stayed only 1 night as a stopover to continue to Yellowstone. Wish we stayed a little longer.

Great place to base camp from.

Very pleasant experience next to the creek; the area felt relatively secluded, yet accessible. But I am writing mainly to compliment our camp hosts. They are a friendly couple who keep the facilities clean and well-maintained. Noticing that our family has small children, they surprised us with cake. (Our hostess told us she had baked it for an event that same morning and had plenty leftover to share. The kids enjoyed it!) Would gladly return for both the scenic beauty of the area and the hospitality. One note - shade makes all the difference at this location. If you choose a site on the side of the road that lacks trees and creek access, plan for ways to keep yourself cool, as there is no natural shade on that side. (We were on the shaded side near the creek and had no trouble keeping cool.)

Great place. Seconds to shell creek. Canyon runs east to west meaning you have Sun early morning to late evening. Campsites are lined up along creek. Beautiful place.

It rained and hailed but this was still a beautiful site! Planning a return already. Will get a site by the river next time. Bathrooms were so clean. Camp hosts are amazing.

Easy to maneuver with a 42’ fifth wheel. Ruth, the lady that cares for the campground, was awesome. Gave us very helpful information about the campground and the area. Bathrooms were clean and smelled good. The best we’ve seen and used in a dry campground. We were able to run our generator which helped. All around an excellent experience!

We stayed at Shell Creek in 2020 and enjoyed the campsite so much that we stayed again this fall (2021). Unfortunately not as desirable as 2020 was. The Big Horn mountains let cattle ranchers have open range for their herds to graze, that is fine, the campgrounds are fenced off accordingly to the keep live stock out of them. This year either the fencing was down or they were breaching the campground sites through the stream bank, I do not know for sure but there was not much effort put forth in getting them (cattle) or keeping them out. Everyday your campsite had cow crap around it, around the picnic table, fire pit, parking space. Other campers had their chairs tipped over, trampled on etc. You anticipate and expect wildlife, I do not classify cattle as wildlife. Never had an issue at the other campground in the Big Horns, just Shell Creek and just this year. Hope they figure this out, if not, bring a shovel!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
