Bring your hats and coats! Views, stars, and trail access are spectacular!

Location was DEFINITELY 5-stars. Couldn't beat the prime viewing location for the sunsets through Window View. Camp host and neighbors were great. We appreciated being in the middle of the park, with easy access to all major roads and cooler temperatures during the day. We also appreciated knocking off almost a half-mile on the Window Trail Hike, which had an alternate trailhead in the group campground! We were conveniently close to the Lost Mine Trailhead for our sunrise hike. Flatness of the tent sites = 3-stars. There were two sites flat enough for two 10x10 tents, our smaller tents were stuck on hillier locations. We put the smallest tent under the shade tree, which is apparently an animal habitat all on its own. Considering the whole campsite is built on a hillside, this was a minor inconvenience once the tents were up (we were able to move a few tables to improve tent locations). My ONLY complaint: friendly skunk who liked to visit the group campground in the evening and night time... even before everyone went to bed! (Once night, they even joined our neighbors for dinner... Fortunately, no one was sprayed) The last night, the skunks were joined by two foxes who visited a neighboring campsite.

The PERFECT group campground. Sunrises and sunsets were incredible. Can't wait to get back out here

The group campsites are in a beautiful spot in the basin with an excellent sunrise/sunset beyond the mountains around. Each site has several picnic tables and a pavilion roof above them. Water spigots are spaced through the group area and shared among a couple of sites. Bathroom was clean. Cleaning sink was provided for washing dishes but it was pretty stinky and dank - would benefit from airing out but sign on the door says to keep closed. 2 large bear food lockers at each site - plenty of room to put coolers and food bins into. Its nice to be in the center of BBNP at this site. Site is really close to Lost Mine Trail, one of the more popular trails - limited parking at this one starts filling up by 7:30 am on spring break week. We had a great week and are grateful to have booked the site!

We stayed in Chisos Group Campground for 2 nights. The restrooms were closed, but a few port-a-potties were set up. Unfortunately, those were filled and quickly closed as well. Signs were posted to use the single campground that was a little ways down the road. I was extremely disappointed in the bathroom situation. But the campsite itself was nice and clean. All 3 bear boxes were in working order.

Great site, however be warned, there is no roof/shelter like it is shown on the photo. Didn't bother us, but may have been a problem if we got rain.One of the tables fits nicely under a tree nook, which could provide decent cover during light rain.Other than that, site is clean, level, next to a water spicket and close to trash bins. Very convenient and very picturesque.

The campsite was incredible! Our site particularly had a really great view of the lower basin toward window, but you can probably see all of it from each site. There was no trash anywhere, and the tables and bear boxes made it really easy to cook and store all of our food!

The Chisos Basin Campground is by far my favorite in the park. I love waking up to being surrounded by mountains. Ive been coming to Big Bend for nearly a decade and the Chisos Basin Campground has always been an incredible and scenic camp. Everyone is always so welcoming and nice, the sites are well maintained, bathrooms are clean and functional and the scenery is just unreal. The Basin store and visitor center are also very conveniently a close drive away. My friends and my husband that I have brought to Big Bend for the very first time have all agreed the Chisos Basin is a game changer in the camping scene. 10/10 would recommend. I loved it here the very first time I went, I still love it just as much, if not more, like I did the first time. This will forever be my favorite place in the world.

The location is awesome, and many of the mountain trails are easily accessible from the campsite. Star gazing was great here too.

Beautiful park. This is the second time I've brought a group of 15-18 college students for a 3-night camping trip. They have loved it each time. I look forward to returning and enjoying the rugged beauty of the Chisos mountains!

Our group had a fabulous time! The grounds were well maintained and the facilities were well kept up!!The rangers were very friendly and didn’t mind answering questions! It was one the most enjoyable camping experiences we have had in Big Bend!

The campsite was fine and bathrooms clean. Unfortunately we had other Jack wagons across from us who were loud and played music past midnight.

Absolutely incredible place. Campground and amenities were very clean and well maintained. Also I hardly saw any litter which was very refreshing. Definitely will be coming back.

Our family enjoyed our time at the group campsite in the Chisos Basin. It was the perfect spot to explore the park-- to enjoy the protected habitat of the mountains, but also venture out to the Hot Springs & into the desert. We would love a return visit!

Great site, accommodations and view. Will be back

Beautiful setting but sites are ridiculously small and sloping for the minimum number of people required.
@EvaMM5680418 · Camped on Oct 19, 2022 at Campsite #Q
The rangers and volunteer staff harassed us daily over everything from soap in the bathroom to how far off the asphalt we were. In the past decade of coming to Big Bend I have never felt so unwelcome
@LindaL449 · Camped on Jan 20, 2022 at Campsite #R
It was so cold - 17 degrees! If only the lodge restaurant had been open for breakfast, but alas, there were staffing issues and we understand. But with no fire allowed, breakfast was no fun and very cold. Thank you for heating the bathroom!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
