Clean, incredibly well stocked! One of the lovelier public cabins I have stayed in! The stove is AWESOME.

Awesome place to spend a few days. We fished the creek and cooked delicious food over the wood stove. We brought all of our food and supplies in totes, which was awesome as there are quite a few mice who came to visit.

We stayed in the Moose Lake Cabin for a couple nights in late June-early July. It's a cute little cabin with easy access to the Middle Fork of Rock Creek and privacy from the main Moose Lake Road thanks to a row of willows and a dip in the landscape. The cabin itself and vault toilet were clean and well-stocked. We really liked the fact that screened windows on two sides open up and allow a cross breeze to keep the cabin cool and airy. We hope a new screen door will be installed (we could see the hinges and lock where earlier ones hung) for more light and air. The only issue was, just like most of the old ranger stations and guard cabins on the ground, a little mouse or five who liked to come out at night and whenever we left the cabin in the day to gnaw and poo on our stuff. Fortunately, we always travel with sealed hard-sided plastic tubs for camp gear and food so there was no damage. Be aware to keep everything sealed in similar protective containers otherwise you'll have a dash of mouse seasoning in your food here at Moose Lake.

Really enjoyed our stay, we regularly camp in the area and have wanted to stay at the cabin for quite a while, and finally did. A few things: 1) the maul and hatchet were VERY dull, so much so that they actually bounced off the wood, we couldn't cut at all. We had brought a chain saw and used that to cut wood. Split wood would be better for the stove, so next time we will bring our own tools, or maybe our own wood. 2) The cabin is pretty small, and with the bunk beds, table, and wood stove, it gets full fast. There were two of us and we were fine, but a group of four would be pretty cozy if you were stuck inside. 3) We were going by the stove instructions on the wall behind the stove. Later we found written stove instruction on paper on the wall by the door. It would have saved some effort to read the paper instructions first - we aren't wood stove experts. But it was very enjoyable, weather was great, a beautiful area!!

We celebrated my 62nd birthday here and it was perfect. We caught a few fish and our grandson slept in a forest service cabin for the first time. I am sure we will do more of that.

Such a lovely little cabin right near the river. Lots to explore down the forest roads. We will put this one on our list of cabins to return to.

Beautiful cabin in the woods. Safe and dry through a week of rain. Impressed with the coffee press included with fully stocked kitchen.

We had a great time! You can actually see the cabin from the gate where you can park. We also enjoyed snowshoeing around the area. Cozy cabin, the cook-top wood stove was cool too.

BOOK NOW! Price going from $20 to $45 per night plus $8 fee next year. The Pintler Ranger District is SUPER! They have supplied kitchen items to both Moose Lake & Douglas Creek cabins and have made improvements. Whoever is in charge is AWESOME! Easy drive weather permitted in a car. 4G Verizon service about 6.6 miles from the cabin. The campground that caused issues in the past nearby the cabin has been closed for 2+ years. Now there is a locked gate stating renters only! Metal hand pump for water. Wood cook stove with oven. Wood only goes in top left! Two bunk beds but no ladders to climb if physically challenged. Perhaps use a chair for upper bunks. A few games. Dining table with 3 backed chairs. Fire pit with picnic table. Lots of wood. Nice deep creek nearby. Found a bathtub there if you want a bath! It seems most people that rent here truly take care of the cabin and many are older. Nice ADA vault pit toilet but boy it is a good ways away from the cabin at night. No sink sadly. Bring fly traps during the summer. We cleaned the windows but there was insect stuff or some sap like residue all over the exterior windows. If somebody would be so kind to bring a razor blade scraper and clean this off it would be great! A very enjoyable stay. Don't delay in reserving your stay at a mere $20 before it more than doubles next year.

Beautiful, well-built old cabin, nice stove, lovely location. No cell service for us (that's a good thing!). Needs a new logbook and an axe handle repair, so you may want to bring your own axe for splitting wood.

My husband and I stayed at Moose Lake cabin the weekend after Christmas to celebrate our first holiday season as a married couple. We played cards by lantern light and played outside with our pup. Very clean and well-kept place!
@SteveA896 · Camped on Dec 25, 2019 at Campsite #1
The cabin is small, rustic, and cozy. The location is gorgeous. In winter there is plenty of firewood. The bunks have reasonably cushy mattresses on them.The listing is incorrect on two points: the cook stove is the wood stove and not a separate propane stove. It’s fun to cook on it. There is no propane lantern. So you will want to bring your own lights.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
