Wonderful location, supremely beautiful and peaceful. My wife and I reserved this for Father's Day '24 and brought our two dogs with us. The cabin is easy to get to, not a paved road but definitely well traveled and well maintained, but tucked away enough that it feels private/remote. The cabin itself is somewhat rustic but with modern features. It has solar powered lights installed, which we did use sparingly, a gas powered refrigerator and stove, and a wood burning stove as well inside, none of which we used but was nice to have the option. The fire pit out front is equipped with a grill top you can swivel on or off the fire and is ringed with log benches on all sides for a nice, cozy feel. There was plenty of wood available in the wood shed behind the cabin with a fair amount already chopped and ready and an axe if more was needed. The pit toilet a little way up the path seemed relatively modern and clean with plenty of tissue available (we did bring our own just in case).The inside of the cabin is also equipped with 2 bunk beds, a table and chairs, a sink, cooking utensils, pictures of the grounds in earlier years, etc.One of my favorite aspects of this place is that you could hear the sound of the cold, clear water running down the rocks in the creek from the fire pit, very serene.We did walk down to the wider part of the creek in the meadow but were getting eaten by mosquitoes. We didn't see any fish in the creek.We built a fire with some of the wood provided and grilled potatoes and corn on the cob and steak. The view is incredible out over the meadow towards the snow capped mountain.We brought a propane lantern with us which proved handy as it got dark quickly. We heard lots of birds and in the morning, on the way back down the road we saw several deer and elk.This place is truly a hidden gem. Would highly recommend to anybody looking to get away, just remember to leave it as clean as you found it! We'll definitely be back in the future.

Amazing! We loved this place! I cannot wait to go back. The fall colors were absolutely amazing and it snowed while we were there. It was such a magical 2 nights in one of the darkest and quietest spots we have ever been. There's just about everything you need including a propane fridge and stove. Lots of cool board games to play surrounded by beautiful nature. No cell service makes for an awesome digital detox. Great hiking is also very close by so be sure to get out and explore. Don't forget to chop some wood for the next guest!!!

Very scenic and quiet. Left 1 day early because the mice were keeping us up at night. Not a great thing to hear if you are sleeping on the floor because 1 of the beds was broken. Even slept outside one night and heard Elk and Coyote. Better then the mice but not much sleep again. Came prepared with our own water, cooking and cooling unit but didn't prepare for the mice. I know that is probably impossible to control with the site but it was made worse by the bed on the floor. Would go back to the area again but not stay in the cabin.

Wonderful and unique place. Quite a drive but worth it. Great firepit area outside, clean outhouse and lot's of space on the property to explore and campout too.. Wood burning fireplace keeps things cozy. Some updates to the cabin would be nice, such as inside paint, fireplace tools, and kitchen area . Little things that make a difference. Also there is only a bunk bed, two twins, so really sleeps 2 adults unless you bring an air mattress. We had a great time and will be back!

Getting away somewhere like this is like a dream. Mostly quiet, with the exception of folks getting lost or just exploring coming to poke about the guard station. One minor downside is that most people don't know this is a rentable property, and so they tend to come through and be loud despite the fact that we were staying there. If there was a better indicator that it might be occupied, folks might have been less careless.

Surrounded by conifers, the cabin offers serene silence. The sunsets are gorgeous from the front porch. There are only 2 beds, not three as shown, but with an extra cot, we got by in comfort. Actually the cots were more comfortable than the old beds. A pot belly stove keeps the cabin warm during the evening. All in all, it is a wonderful site.

Great FS cabin, I loved it. I've stayed in FS cabins all over the place for the last 15 years or so and this one ranks near the top. The heating stove inside and the solar powered led lights were awesome and made my stay that much better. I found a couple of nice hiking trails nearby as well as a lake. I didn't use the propane stove or frig, and they had had to turn off the water due to freezing, but it was still great. I really appreciate the Forest Service making this cabin available.

Good Experience overall. Cabin. was Clean and Tidy. Needs: 1. Reliable Carbon Monoxide and Smoke detectors. 2. Install a larger wood burning stove (like the one that was here for many years and was replaced with a smaller one. 3. Put the door back on the back room so the main area can be heated efficiently . 4. More beds are needed.

Amazing location. We visited the end of August and the weather and area was absolutely beautiful. Cool mornings and evenings, warm days in the sunshine. We loved having the wood stove to heat up the cabin a couple of days. I saw a shower in the video, and was hoping, but be aware that it is not hooked to water at all. The water to the cabin kitchen worked okay for the first two days, but the last day we had barely a trickle and had to go out back and fill containers to bring water in the cabin. No hot water in the cabin at all. Beds were so bad! The bunk is super rickety and looks like it would fall apart if anyone large tried to get on the top. I was worried about my little 8 year old up there because it rocked back and forth every time she went up or down the ladder. It has springs instead of bunk boards, so the mattresses sag and fold in when you lay on them. The futon actually WAS falling apart. It was literally duct taped together, and when we carefully slid it away from the wall to sleep on it, it broke apart and we had to put it back together. The mattress was so old you could feel all the springs through it. Luckily we had brought a cot and some camp pads, so we used the pads on the futon and moved a bunk mattress to the floor. All in all it was a fun visit, but for the cost you would think that they would put in some nicer beds and possibly a hot shower.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
