Now that there is a new camp host, this camping trip was so much better than earlier trips this summer. The reservation signs were up to date, the bathrooms were spectacularly clean, and the water was running just fine in the sinks and the spout to fill up water jugs. Having a reliable source of water and place to use the bathroom just makes all the difference during a multi-day camp trip. All the docks were pulled in properly close to the shore as well. THANK YOU to the new camp-host, we never saw them in person but their presence was definitely noticed!

The quality of the campsites has been deteriorating for the last several years. I have been coming here since 2015 and it has gone downhill since then. The managing company has put little money into upkeep and improvements. It is sad to see what is happening to hideout. The bathrooms had intermittent problems with water and flushing and had to poor water into the toilets. Hopefully the campsite will start getting the attention it deserves!!

As usual we had a lovely time but campers were disrespectful and still lit fireworks on the 4th of July. There was also a problem with other campers abusing the water source and the bathrooms. I wish there was a better solution for campers to be aware how precious the water source is for those of us that use this as drinking water.

Ive been coming here for years and have always loved this campground. However this time the water and toilets were turned off supposedly due to a leak in the pipes. We were not notified and were unprepared to have no water or toilets. Yet they still charged my CC the same amount of money. That is disappointing. Poorly managed.

There was no running water or flushable toilets. We had to drive to Manilla every other day for water. There was no warning. It would have been nice to have gotten a phone call, text, or email with that information

Bathrooms werent open and water wasnt turned on during our visit early June 24. Both were operable last year 23 at the same time so we planned on having both again this year. Resource availability seems inconsistent. My group was on kayaks and other groups had a ton of younger scouts so it was a critical issue for the whole campground. We all had to boat back out and drive to Manila for water. No good.

The bathrooms were locked and unavailable. There wasn't a host on-site or that even stopped while we were there. The main dock floated away during our stay.. thankfully our boat wasn't attached to it. There are piles of feces everywhere. We lucked out and had a porta potty on our boat. But I'm not sure what my fee was used for. The only thing good about the campground is the location.

Campground is showing its age. Wish you would hook up the water throughout the camp again. Overall we still live it.

Camp host wasnt there. Someone was in our spot. Then the next day when the host came back, he said we didnt have a reservation. My phone had fallen in the lake, and there was no service to prove we DID have a reservation. But YES, we did! I have the receipt here on this online system- how is the camp host not seeing paid reservations that were supposedly up to date!??There was also no toilet paper in the restrooms, but there WERE BATS!!!!! There needs to be a better system for reservations! I would be scared to ever reserve this place again not knowing if I would actually have a spot when I got there!

The camphost is amazing. The reservation process is better now that they are holding people accountable for checking in on their dates and opening up sites where people do not check in. The facilities overall though are getting very dilapidated. It has been neglected since it switched to private management. It is time for an update!!

We went to Hideout two times this year for a total of 7 days and it was just amazing. We have been going there every year for the past 5 years and we have created so many family memories. The camp host Walter was so inviting and nice to my family and friends. He made us feel so welcome and always made sure we were ok. He was there as the camp host a couple of years ago as well and that experience was just as great as this year. The campground and the host were awesome this year and we are extremely grateful for this place.

Camp host was awesome! bathrooms were clean, spring drinking water was available and beautiful scenery. What else could a camper want.

We love camping at Hideout. This was our third year. Only disappointments were that the water was a bit low so that the hike to the campsite from the dock was a bit steep and the drinking water wasn’t safe to use.
@JasonS8132232 · Camped on Jun 9, 2022 at Campsite #8
Unfortunately this year was a let down. The water level was down and we new this before we arrived but what we didn't expect was the dangerous positioning of the assigned boat docks. They were at such a severe tilt an twist that they were unsafe. We also did not receive any warning that the spring water that we use and count on was posted at the faucet as unsafe to drink. When you do not have any warning, you don't bring enough water for the trip and that is a huge issue when you're in a boat-in only camp ground.

We love this campground and come every year. Last year (2021) we came in August and there was no water (so the flush toilets were closed) and no campground host. I'm happy to report that this year the water is back (at least for now) and there is a friendly, helpful host who says he will be there all season.

Very nice area. Clean campsites and bathrooms.

Hideout was a wonderful campsite but there were 3 problems: (1) very limited toilet paper in the outhouse (we had brought our own expecting this might be the case); (2) The benches in the sites had a plastic covering which has deteriorated and the covering should be removed; (3) no fee envelopes - we occupied an additional site the first night and there was no way to pay (we had reserved 2 sites for the 2nd night, so we only needed the additional site for night 1)

We went from 7/27/21 to 7/31/21. All in all a pretty cool place campsites are fairly secluded but close together and the sound travels very easily. I actually heard people snoring from 3 different campsites.. Never saw a camp host but the flush toilets were working...but not the freshwater ... Docks were in good shape. We wanted to boat down and tour the dam but the docks at the dam were not connected to land ..bummer maybe next time!!

Nice location. No camp host was there the entire time. People had poached our camp site when we got there causing a confrontation. A group of people showed up with 17 small children who were not supervised, and they stole all of the toilet paper in the restroom. Lots of noise very late at night. Camps need hosts as people are quite rude these days.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
