We didn't have any food or drinks out and we were infested with ants every where in our tents and in our vehicles. We had to go get ant spray in order to keep them out of our tent and off of us at night. Everyone around us had the same issue. I would not recommend this camp site to any one.

What a wonderful campground. Spacious e sites . The only draw back was we were heading west and on I-40 and followed directions on Google maps. The campground was at least 20 miles from interstate. We had to cross a very narrow bridge with our small cargo trailer. The cars at the end of bridge waited so we could cross safely.Large RVs I dont think could have maneuvered the bridge or the extremely narrow curvy roads . Leaving the park it was much easier and shorter route to get back to interstate. No WI-FI

Infested with ants. Had to stay in a hotel due to the ant issue.

Ants were bad at the camp site

We put Comet and insect spray around all our tires leveling jacks and electric cord. Thousands of tiny ants came into our class A RV and my wife has over 100 bites on her upper thighs and abdomen that itch. We reported the ant problem to the campground enter station and were told some treatment would be applied at our campsite 55 but never was. We hurried home and are fuming the entire RV. A camper in site 52 also had an ant problem. This turns what should be a great experience into an expensive disaster. We will never be able to camp at Iron Mountain again.

Love the place. The spot could be difficult to get the camper situated, but overall not too terrible. Could see issues with larger campers (mine is 20ft for example).

The campground is in need of an update. The sites are not very long for most modern equipment. Sewer at the site wood also be welcome. However the staff was very friendly and helpful and seemed to take great pride in the park.

Pretty shaded area. Site was hard to get in to but we got it. Alot of trees to work around

The area is beautiful, but the second day the ants arrived. I even moved sites, but to no avail. Still finding ants in my van 2weeks later.

Pretty, but flooded with light from the street light outside the bathroom. I understand you have to see, but do better ACOE. Campers were loud, coming in at almost midnight. Dogs barking, music playing. Ugh. Also, fire pit for the site next door is directly behind our parking spot. Weird layout and sooo much light! Restrooms were clean except for all the dead bugs which must have been drawn by the blinding light. The bug killer they use must be super toxic because bugs didnt live more than a couple of minutes. It made me worry about what I was breathing.

This is by far one of the best sites in the campground. There is a decent path down to the lake at the rear of the site. It was like having our own private beach!

Nice flat tent spot

Great campsite! We were able to stay here and view the 2024 eclipse with clear skies! Other reviews talk about ant and bug problems. There were plenty of ants and a lot of beetles. Having said that, this is a forest, these creatures are to be expected. This is not a manicured camp site. We absolutely enjoyed this campground.

I traveled with a Van and An SUV/pop-up.We stayed at sites 68 and 69 , for a week with my America The Beautiful Pass. Both my van and pop up measured between 15 and 20 feet. There was not a great place to park the spare SUV with the pop-up fully extended. Closer to the showers and restroom are larger, more level sites.I did find it difficult to switch from site 69 to site 60 on my Apple phone. I was there during the eclipse, so it couldve been the connection. A beautiful wooded peninsula, very quiet, helpful employees/contractors/rangers. Water gets very hot quickly. But once I understood that I had a fabulous shower!!!! Believe it or not, we had a hard time actually finding Iron Mountain Campground, let alone the correct reserved site in the dark, with no one there. It results in setting up in the dark on the wrong site! Oops. I didnt have any problem booking a site two months in advance. But this was also during the rainy season there. The Damn is beautiful. The Crater of diamonds, will bring me back Plumb Bayou archaeological state park was a great time to stretch your legs.Bring glass jars to Hot Springs and refill at the warm artesian well. I was told by a local, the hot one has more minerals? Due to circumstances, I did end up taking home the cold. And I love it just as well. Boat launch is nearby. Kept very clean, fast garbage removal. Close to the lodge and Caddo Village.Arkadelphia has all one needs. Tire problem? Go Big Fabrication at 1398 AR 7 Bismarck. They were great!

Great campground only drawback is a lack of water at the campsites

Great campground - visited in off season so not crowded. Spaces where easy to get into - well spaced. Scenic park

Nice hot showers and thankfully the shower area was heated. Beautiful and close to the mountain bike trails.

Great Mtn bike trails, hot showers, tree canopy sites, 2 big sinks for washing dishes, electric at site. Quiet Everything a cyclist would want. Perfect & reasonable price

Campground has a SERIOUS ANT PROBLEM. We were on site 51, booked for 3 nights, left after 1 night. Site location was beautiful, overlooking lake, trail down to water, HOWEVER, woke up at 11:30pm with ants everywhere...in the bed, on the floor, on counters, along baseboards, ceiling, in our underbelly storage...everywhere! NOT FUN. Had bug spray with DEET that we sprayed on ants. Killed them almost instantly. Tried to get to sleep around 1:00am (not very successful). Packed up and left by 8:00am. Spoke to two other campers near us...fifth wheel had pulled in after us, they had ants everywhere too; other people were tent camping (they were there when we arrived), they had ants as well. It has taken us 8 days to completely (fingers crossed) get rid of the ants in the trailer. We have come to learn that Iron Mountain has had a problem with ants for 30 years!!!! Why don't they have a warning on their website???? DON'T CAMP AT IRON MOUNTAIN UNLESS YOU HAVE A FOOLPROOF WAY TO REPELL ANTS!!!!!

Always a pleasure to stop at COE campgrounds - they are invariably clean, well maintained and accessable, and the other campers know how to behave - and Iron Mountain was no exception!

Clean restroom, beautiful setting, very quiet, friendly camp host. Nearby Iron Mountain Trail was pretty and enjoyable.
@RichardM509620 · Camped on Oct 16, 2023 at Campsite #55
Beautiful setting, well away from traffic and noise. The campground was tight to navigate with our long fifth wheel, but not much of an issue as there was only one other camper there. The staff was friendly and helpful. Restrooms were clean and well stocked.

Thanks to all our Supporting Members

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
