My wife and I love Starkey Campground when we take our RV. We would most definitely like to see the campgrounds season extended at least through the fall season. Most importantly, the bathrooms and amenities definitely need to be upgraded. Would like to see more water and sewer hook ups in the camping area as well.

This is an older campground with smaller and tighter sites. Be mindful of site selection. Its set on a beautiful part of Beaver Lake with water access.

#21- good spot. Pretty level. You can see the lake. Very hilly park. Needs lots of upgrading.

Love the park and park host. Definitely needs upgrades with bathroom and shower. Need more sites with sewer, water and electricity

Upon arrival, campground host was arguing with us that we used the wrong Access card category when we made the reservation. We pulled up the reservation website and showed him that our card did not match the choices on the dropdown menu. He kept arguing with us. It would not have changed the cost of the site. Not sure what we were supposed to do about it at that point....? No campground signs directing what campsites were down which road. This led to a screeching halt at the top of a hill that had a "Dead End" sign. We were not the only ones who had to back our campers up; we saw several people who had to do this as well. No swimming area and no hiking trails, so outdoor adventures were limited. We didn't see any wildlife, not even a squirrel, which we thought was a bit odd. The marina parking lot was packed and very tight, which looked difficult for someone trying to maneuver a boat/trailer through there. There was a tornado warning in effect which produced an EF3 tornado in the adjacent county. Cell service was very sketchy, but luckily we were able to bring up the detailed weather and a storm chaser site on YouTube, so we knew what was coming. We took shelter in the shower house. Heavy hail and winds came with the storm. Only one other family was taking shelter as well. Neither the park ranger nor camp host came around to the campsites to warn everyone of the incoming storm, which we thought was extremely irresponsible. We never even saw them the next morning, and nobody was at the booth when we checked out. On the positive side, the campground is small and quiet. Most of the campsites are spacious so you don't feel crammed in. But all in all, this campground could use a little sprucing up.....and a friendlier camp host. We crossed this one off our list.

Not on the lake, but very nice woodsey feel. Not crowded, a true hidden gem.

This is a decent campground with the exception of no water hook-ups, You must fill your fresh water tank and be sure you pumping system works in your RV. Luckily ours did because this was a surprise upon check in. The host was very nice. Located close to Eurica Springs so lots to do nearby.

The good: beautiful views, small, quiet campground, good marina, swimming at bottom of hill was excellent.The bad: this specific sites table is behind it and when you step out of your camper you are on a steep crumbling hill. We had to step to the side and hold on to the camper handle to swing around to walk out of the site. bathrooms are just vaulted and were full of roaches and bugs (would attach pic if able), huge hills: we had to drive back and forth to our familys spot at the bottom bc walking was killer and were in shape. The ugly: we wanted spot 21 but it said for 26ft or shorter. It was right next to our family but our camper is 30ft. Turns out the website is inaccurate because spot 21 is HUGE! And right near the water and concrete, good table right outside your camper door no cliffs to contend with. Really bummed we drove 4 hours for that. Definitely going back to our usual Lost Bridge North from now on.Get spot 21, 22, or 23 if you want to be at Starkey. Our fam had spot 23 with their 33 ft camper and fit great.

The park attendant was the nicest one I have dealt with in years. Bathrooms were stocked well. The only issue was that the showers didnt work and we had to haul water since there is no water on site.

The Gate Attendant Volunteer was friendly and helpful, the park was beautiful. The next time we stay please turn down the heat in the park, the usually hot weather was soothed by the cool water of the lake. Thanks to the USACE team.

The camping was lovely but the beach areas were limited and very rocky. The lack of water at campsites makes this a bit of an inconvenience unless you are in the Premium Campsites. The trade-off that made it tolerable was we had a campsite near the only water source in the main camping area, and near the lake.
@CourtneyZA02DF · Camped on Jul 14, 2023 at Campsite #17
Quite steep terrain, but the lake is just down the hill, and it was peaceful. We really enjoyed our stay.

Site #15 is older and not new like to lower ones. But this campground is clean and very quiet. Had a great time. The park attendant is very nice. The lake was very clear and the kids loved swimming.

We love it here. Have been coming to Beaver Lake, the Starkey area, since 1969. It was hot, and they only have 30A, so we had a little trouble keeping our motorhome cool. The a/c voltage would surge occasionally, causing our a/c systems to shut down - otherwise we had a perfect time. There is a shower house, and vaulted toilets- we don’t use either. No marked swimming area, rocky beach area- but we like it that way. The marina is great, with Hunts pizza drawing a crowd. They also have maybe 10 pontoon boats to rent, and boat slips too. Eureka Springs is a nice curvy drive nearby (20 minutes)

Great location! Easy access to the marina and boat launch.

We had a good time, but there was never an attendant at the main entrance for 4 days. The dumpster was overflowing the first afternoon we arrived and was never attended to. Lots of tent campers in the big stalls, and tons of traffic all through the night. Take tick/bug spray. Hopefully we had a so so experience because it was early in the year. Maybe it will get better.
@CarolC9482923 · Camped on May 11, 2023 at Campsite #15
I was greatly disappointed in this experience. I booked for several days but when I got there, heavy construction was taking place. There were gravel trucks going by my campsite all day, with backhoes running and jackhammering. I moved to a different site to try to escape the noise but it didn’t help. I felt like I was in a war zone. The noise was excruciating. After a few days, I had had enough. When I asked to cancel my remaIning days, The cancellation fee to be charged was TWICE AS MUCH than if I stayed. So I left without cancelling. (I’m not going to pay to be gone from there!) Then when I got to my next campground, I was not allowed to use my Senior Pass for the discount there because your system showed I was still at this one. The cancellation fees are a scam. When a campground is under construction, it should be noted and we should not be required to stay by charging exorbitant cancellation fees.

Nice area with playground if you have small children. Our grandchildren came out for the day and they really enjoyed it! There is however, lots of dogs camping as well but they are on a leash. It's not quiet by any means if that's what you're looking for!

Perfect campsite for rv campers, however if you are a tent camper it is terrible. Ground is too hard to get stakes in because it is all rock under the ground. Also, the spider infested bathrooms are basically unusable. Not a tent friendly campground whatsoever.

Very clean quiet and a nice water access
@stevenb5011158 · Camped on Aug 12, 2022 at Campsite #4
RV sites were clean and convenient to toilet and shower facilities. Most RV sites had complete water and pump-out connections. The lake is beautiful. We spend 3 nights roaming around on the lake and in Eureka Springs. Quaint town with a long history. Nice people.
@TerranceW92285 · Camped on Jul 30, 2022 at Campsite #21
Very peaceful place to camp. I wish there was someone onsite to answer questions though. There was a burn ban up so we couldn't have a camp fire. I'm not sure how accurate the ban was considering no one was onsite though.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
