Camp site was not very spread out. Family next to us set their tent up very close (Less than 10 feet) to our tent, we could literally hear them snoring and had a difficult time falling asleep. We also were not aware of how close we would be to the bathrooms. Campsite was located right across from the bathrooms. The smell was not pleasant especially in the morning. Families next to our tent would walk through our site to get to the bathroom instead of walking out of their site and around. Glad we tried it, but will most likely not come back.

My grandson and I camped during the week so it was pretty quiet, not many campers. Campground was clean, bathrooms ran out of tp, but other than than it was a great experience!

I like this campground also I like my campsite, the only thing I didn't like is all the ATV running around the campground driven by the kids which is I'm they sure it's against the law make the noises. The dirt roads make it even worst with ATV... so dusty. And also some of them playing music so loud .I guess the camp host should be more aware and pay attention of this and do the checking more often. Other than that.. it's all good.

Stayed Tues - Thurs (2 nights). Campground was nearly empty & very quiet. Best time of week to be there if you can schedule that. It was nice to find that they have faucets with potable water.

Beautiful campground! The host Damon is attentive to the needs of the campers, campground and the general positive energy and environment of the place! Cleanest bathrooms and campground I general that I have stayed at in a very long time. The lake is a short hike away and absolutely stunning with the views and wildlife! I will definitely be coming back to this campground and hopefully will be able to stay at whatever campground Damon gets to host next!

Very clean campground, especially the bathrooms! The camp host was friendly and accommodating. Lots of 4x4 trails all around so it goes without saying this may not be the quiet escape you are looking for during the day. Stay the trail.

Great small campground. close to a lot of entertainment. The restrooms were wonderfully maintained.

We went not on a weekend, so there were only a few people there. The host was a great person to talk to and he did a wonderful job of keeping the bathrooms VERY clean.

The camp host was great and everything was very clean. Probably one of the cleanest and most enjoyable visits we've had

Decent sites, most of them aren’t too close together (for a FS campground). The bathrooms were clean/ had TP, the host was friendly and helpful. The downside to this CG is that it is close to a lot of ATV/motorbike trails, which seems like a fun time, however lots of loud vehicles and clueless parents that let their kids tear thru the CG doing lap after lap on their motorized vehicles. Makes things dusty, loud and not the safest for dogs and small kids. I was there on a holiday weekend, to make things worse, and also encountered loud groups blasting music and having way more than 8 ppl per site. I would try this spot again for a non-holiday stay, enjoyed the proximity to good mtn biking and Blackhawk/Central City.

Nice campground for tents and small RVs. Tough for larger rigs. Our site (18) was supposed to be for a 40 ft trailer with 2 vehicles. Not even remotely - we have a 27 ft and could barely get in the site with our truck parked sideways almost in the road. We had a hard time getting in and out of the site. We weren't the only ones. Most of the sites have level areas for a tent, but took quite a bit of leveling for our travel trailer. But - the campsite was awesome. Our site backed up to woods with a lot of trees. Almost all the sites had a lot of shade, a fire pit and a small bbq suitable for small amount of charcoal.

This was a great campground! The site we had was more secluded and plenty of shade to relax in!

Park manager was super nice, very clean restrooms. Amazing tasting water (very glad we could get fresh water to drink). We had deer walk right behind our site and a friendly Raven and a cool looking Stellers Jay (bird) keeping us company!

Great campground close to Denver. We loved seeing the wildflowers at the Central City Cemeteries.

This campsite is great on its own - easy location, clean vault toilets, friendly campsite host, proximity to Golden Gate Canyon State Park - but the nearby ATV course is a major drawback for anyone wanting to escape to quiet, peaceful nature. You can't hear the actual ATV course activity from the site, but riders zoom through the campgrounds all hours of the night and day, revving their engines and blasting loud music. They also don't slow down on the narrow, curvy lane from the course to the campsite, so there were several times we almost collided head-on with an ATV speeding up the road, who proceeded to honk, curse, and gesture at us. Their behavior was rude at best and dangerous at worst; I'm disappointed that neither the campsite host nor the law enforcement officers said anything to curb the bad behavior in and around the campgrounds. There were also RVs always running loud generators and blasting loud, tree-shaking party music, well beyond sundown. This is definitely a party campsite, NOT a nature campsite. Wish we would have known that in advance - we would have looked elsewhere.

Campground was ok. Sites are small even though they claim to fit big rigs. Roads are very narrow leaving no room to maneuver. Water wasnt available as stated. We ended up having to switch sites because the one we reserved was way too small and it took 2 months to receive a refund. Unacceptable.
@BenjaminZFF212 · Camped on May 19, 2023 at Campsite #21
CHECK your directions to this campground before coming, there is a very rough 4wd road that is not suitable for most passenger cars and RVs that both google and Waze recommended. Columbine Campground road is the best route in. The campsites are nice and have a lot of space although not very level
@SteveP3205693 · Camped on Sep 2, 2022 at Campsite #24
Over the years more guests have been bringing ATVs. While most ATVs guest are considerate of their neighbors, the traffic does detract from the beauty of this location. I would recommend not allowing ATVs.
@TravisC3562214 · Camped on Aug 26, 2022 at Campsite #29
Great place for outdoor vehicles - access road can be a bit bumpy at the beginning but smooths out towards the campground.
@Christoph19649 · Camped on Aug 10, 2022 at Campsite #10
This campground may have been very nice at one time. It appears that they’re trying to make it better once again. There were graders and backhoes working in the campground while I was there - which I’m sure was necessary but doesn’t make for the quietest camping experience.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
