Not so great of car campers, since youre very close to the street and bathroom. Perfect if youre tent camping; theres a big open area near the fire pit and bench. A lot of foot traffic and spigot use heard from our rooftop tent.

One of my favorite sites at Crane Flat. The campfire and table are in a very private area. Make sure you bring a wagon to wheel your belongings. A bit of a walk, but its not too bad.

Magnificent campsite in the middle of the forest, far from the hustle and bustle of the valley. We even had the opportunity to see a bear near the camp :)

A very nice Campground, surrounded by trees I had the best night's sleep in a long time. Make sure you have the right equipment, since the nights can be rather chilly.

We had 2 other sites directly next to us so that when we were outside at all both other campers were not more than 8 feet from us. Additionally it was difficult backing into this site and also was on a slant downhill so very difficult to get level. One group were very loud until 1:30 am

What a wonderful place to camp! Plenty of room at each campsite and we weren't on top of our neighbors. Site had a campfire/grill. Just stunning surroundings. Saw other campsites that looked so crowded! I would definitely stay in Crane Flat again! Conveniently located to El Capitan, the Falls and Half Dome. Great hiking, too.

Yosemite is great for camping. It was my first time in the park but very familiar with National Parks. The bathroom was a bit strenuous with backed up toilets. I was happy that it wasn't a lit bathroom that would have taken away from the darkness of the surrounding camping.

Crane Flat was one of the worst camping experiences of my life. The web site touted that the campground had been newly renovated, and it was clean, but the newly graded sites were left with a fine, silt-like red clay powder which got all over everything. I normally don't have to wash my tent after a camping trip, but this time I needed to get off the red dust. It looks to me like more sites have been added to an otherwise already crowded campground. I was surrounded by 4 other sites, so close that I could hear private conversations of the other occupants, and during the night I could hear when someone rolled over in their sleeping bag!

Crane Flat is a nice campground. Quite large so not so private. Some of the sites are very nice, others not so much. No lights in the bathrooms. When we arrived our bear box was full of trash. Once pointed out it was promptly taken care of. Rangers were friendly. Considering it's location we knew we were lucky to have found a spot to stay and enjoy Yosemite. Sites are hard to come by.

Great campsite! Nice place to have a fire and the bathrooms were fairly close to most campsites. Only think is our neighbors were a little loud and kept slamming their car doors all night but besides that it was amazing!

Campsite was full of dust, broken table, toilets without light and no dishwasher sinks

We loved it here. The sites are very close to each other with little greenery in between but its a perfect middle point for Yosemite Valley and Tuolumne Meadows. We ended up staying here an extra night because we enjoyed it so much.

Beautiful campground with excellent amenities considering the location and the use we had for a campsite. Excellent single pitch location with lots of space and ample room to store items in bear-safe storage containers.

it was a great site! saw some deer and sunrise was beautiful! it was also close to the bathrooms and the ground was perfectly flat for the tent with tons of space for some chairs near the fire pit. downsides are that theres no signal at all until you drive down maybe 20mins to get GPS working on your phone, as well as during the daytime the crows never stop yapping haha but i guess its not a problem if you hike all day. the only other downside was the bees, yellow jackets i believe, they swarmed in and surrounded any kind of food we tried to cook, even sandwiches!! wouldnt have been much of a problem if it was a few but there was easily more than 20. we had to cook in the tent which was so uncomfortable and even then they would try to get into the tent. other than that trip was super nice, the park itself is beautiful

Great place, enough space per site, clean bathrooms, quiet and peaceful.

Good amenities. Awful campfire smoke from other campers at night, especially on the weekend.

Camp Host was awesome and she helped out with a bad situation that developed at our site. Someone pushed our tow dolly down the hill next to our site. Still dont know who did it. The Camp Host found a way to fix things for us and get the dolly back up the hill. Crisis diverted. Camp Host is my hero. Thanks!Faculty in general was dirty and very cramped. Bathrooms did not even have lights. Not sure Id go back.

Wanted to love this campground, but unfortunately was a little disappointed. . Site wasn't cleaned before we checked in and loop bathroom did not have water, so we didn't have a bathroom close. Other than that, it's a beautiful, quiet place to stay away from the crowds in the Valley.

Crane Flat is a very clean Yosemite campground near the NW entrance (hwy 120). It had been closed for rejuvenation and it looks great. Like the other campgrounds in Yosemite, the sites are close together. Many of the back in sites did not look very level (front to back). The restrooms were clean with running water and flush toilets. Crane Flat is the closest campground to the valley that is not in the valley. Would definitely stay here again.

Loved this campsite! Ive been coming to Yosemite since the early 90s and have had difficulty with getting reservations in the valley. Came to crane flats to try it out as the closest available and actually really loved it. Much quieter at night than the valley. Has a gas station 2 minutes away. And is only a 25 min drive down the mountain to the valley. I would definitely come back again!

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
