Campground is very attractive, nice access to water. But, our site (48) was tent only, even though it wasnt listed this way, and they asked what length vehicle we had (camper van). Fire pit was on a big slope, so no way to sit and enjoy a fire.

There was no more water in the campground and the restrooms were stinking. Missing a lot of maintenance. If there is no more services in the campground it should be simply closed.

Nice campground, but campsides are very close to one another. Neighbours tent was couple meters away.

Its a primitive campground with pit toilets, and tables & fire rings at each site. It is at the southern end of the park so you have to drive fairly long distances to get to other areas of the park.

Sites are horrible

Nice and quiet. Clean bathrooms. Needs a little work on the roads, however.

Nice site, a little noisy from the road.

The campground sites could use some work to level areas for tents and the parking areas for campers too. We would not have been able to stay if the rangers in the office couldn't put us in a different site because it was just a small area on the side of the road and so unlevel side-to-side that we couldn't disconnect our truck. Please allocate funds for campground improvements. It was wonderful getting to stay in the Yellowstone!

Be very careful when reserving a campsite here. My reserved site had been taken by a group that had clearly been there for days. They had no intention of moving, there was no way to call anyone for help, and there was no camp host to help.

Lewis Lake campground is a serene , peaceful and heavily wooded place to be off grid in Yellowstone . The hosts, John and Darlene were the best! Their knowledge of the park was very helpful in filling our days with hikes and sites!

Good location, not far off the main loop of Yellowstone. The sites are extremely small and packed together. The site we had was on a slope with the flattest part of it being RIGHT next to the pit toilet, where we had to put our tent. They came to empty it at 8am being as loud as can be. But we did get to hear elk bugling all night long so that was neat. For the price, not worth it. There are better campsites in the park that cost less.

Best option in Yellowstone after Sep18. Intimate campsites are fine with quiet neighbors.

Spots are pretty tightly packed next to each other, but plenty of trees around to help provide some privacy. A great location to be in the park!

We enjoyed the location and all the wildlife we could hear from our spot! We heard elk bugling all night and wolves after dark. It was a great place to stay with a beautiful lake to see!

Great campground, quiet and semi private locations. Heard elks bugling at night, would recommend!

All the sites had reserved tags but sat empty while other campers were turned away; I have seen this before. This reservation system DOES NOT WORK! Too many people make reservations & never show up. There should not be mandatory reservations after Labor Day for ANY campground.

Lovely and quiet campground. Great and centrally located. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the beautiful lake

We live in nearby Jackson, Wyoming. In the old days, we were always able to get a camp site at Lewis Lake in Sept without a reservation. Just drive up and take whatever there was available. Now that we need a reservation, I felt lucky to get 2 nights in the last site available in the whole campground. The site was as described and for the two of us in a small tent it worked out ok. The nearby restroom was fairly clean and well stocked. The issue I have is that several of the nicer sites near us that were 'reserved'- no one showed up and they remained empty. There needs to be a different way to deal with this. There should be a penalty for no shows.

This was a nice quiet small campground. The road to the southern entrance from this campsite is stunning! Sadly, very few pullouts or placards. Well worth the drive, though.

My campsite firepit was in direct view, about 7 ft away, from the neighboring campsite firepit. Not too much of an issue, but had a large group of loud intoxicated early 20 somethings next to us. Bad luck I suppose.
@DaleL7469266 · Camped on Sep 3, 2024 at Campsite #58
Site 54B was way to small for a 20-ft trailer. The side had so much of a side slop that it was impossible to level the trailer side to side. This site is not suitable for a trailer. The trail up to the picnic table and firepit was so steep that it was not useable.

we didn't stay up there after the night of the grizzly story we backed out. and stayed at our grant villege campground site

Lewis Lake was a much more private setting than other Yellowstone campgrounds. It was quiet, even with its proximity to the main road. A brief walk to the lake opened up beautiful views. We saw loons. Excellent visit.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
