Sunnyside Campground, Blue River, OR

Sunnyside Campground is located in the McKenzie River Ranger District of the Willamette National Forest (1 hr 11 min east of Springfield, OR) with an elevation of 1,776 feet. There are a total of 13 campsites. The campground is normally open from the end of April to the beginning of September. Max equipment length is 21 feet. All sites are currently reservable. There is a fee of $17.00 per night.

For anyone looking for a waterfront camping with access to the reservoir, unfortunately this is not the spot anymore. Neither are any of the other campgrounds in this area. Its been mostly drained down to the river with no way to safely down. The hot springs are close by but not great for a sweltering summer day. Used to love coming here but will be seeking other water spots for now on.

I was unable to stay due to the very steep road into the campground and huge pot holes right at the entrance. I found out later they were going to be filled in but I would still caution against camping here if you have a low clearance vehicle that struggles to climb steep gravel inclines.That said, the campground is small and shaded. Pretty remote with no cell service. Great if youre looking for a secluded getaway and have a vehicle that can handle the road conditions. I miraculously found the camp hosts responsible for maintaining the campground at another campground nearby. They were extremely helpful and accommodating, finding me a more suitable location that was an even better campsite than I had reserved. Not only did they save my trip but made it even better!

A former assistant ranger by the name of Gaby was a great help. She knew a bunch of the history and she's the reason I made it to the hotsprings.

We had a really great time here! We stayed in campsite #10 and it was pretty secluded from the other sites. Short walk to the vault toilets and a short drive to day use area and hot springs. We would definitely stay here again!
