We loved Antlers Guard Station. It was not too far off a main road, but quiet and peaceful. There was a lot of road traffic on the dirt road passing the cabin, but that is to be expected in an active camping area. The stream was pretty, and full of bird life. The cabin was well equipped,. The only thing was the stove in the front room. The pilot light was on, but there were no instructions for operating it. The nights got down in the high 50's, and it would have been nice to have a touch of heat.

Beautiful location next to a babbling brook. Wildflowers every where. There is a restaurant in Sumpter a few miles away.

This cabin is awesome. Super place for hunting or summer get away. Couple of things, no oven and the refrigerator needs better outside venting. Bunk beds are super but only top bunk for lightweights. Location is outstanding and the cabin is very supplied in kitchen. Water is outstanding. Can’t say enough good about it

We really enjoyed our time at Antlers Guard Station--quiet, cool on hot days, well supplied, comfortable. We did let the Forest Service folk know that there were remnants of a mouse/rat problem (none detected currently).

Sweet cabin with a summer camp, bunk bed vibe. Futon not good for 2 plan around that (room on the floor by stove for the small mattresses if needed). Bring a lantern as the propane lights didn't all work and dont hang in right places for good reading or eating. Nice meadow and exploring and little creek. Dont tell too many people about this little place!

The older I get the harder the bunkbeds get, but this is a great cabin. Not too far from civilization, very well maintained, convenient propane amenities and potable water pump. Love the nearby creek. Surprisingly little wildlife, although that can be a plus when you're walking to the outhouse in the dark.

We really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is one of the few we were able to find that is still open during the Covid era. The well water was a huge plus, and the gas fixtures and lighting worked well. The house is well maintained, very reasonably cleaned, and well supplied by past visitors. (We restocked some items, added a journal and some other odds and ends.) We enjoyed the location, about 40 miles from Baker City, we recommend a day trip there with some Paizano's pizza (pet friendly patio by the way), the City Park in Baker City is great for kids. We also went over to Sumpter to check out the dredge. And we spend some time close to the cabin, exploring roads, trials, the nearby stream (North Fork Burnt River), and the ghost town of Whitney. The only negative mark for the cabin (making it 4 stars instead of 5) is that it is situated right on the fork of a road that does get a fair amount of truck and offroad traffic, maybe 2-3 vehicles per hour. If someone's wanting to "disappear" into remoteness, this isn't the cabin. On the other hand, the people nearby were great and help make you feel very safe in the area.

The only suggestion I would have is to include the lock combination on the confirmation of order once the payment has been received. This is the way it is done in the Malheur NF. I had a difficult time contacting anyone to get this combination before I left for a week in an area where there was no cell phone contact. The cabin is a real jewel in an ideal location. It was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The USFS really has a wonderful program with these cabins, and I plan to return again and again

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
