Just outside the city, the popular Lake Champlain Islands offer campsites with sweeping lake views, perfect for boating, fishing, and kayaking. The nearby Green Mountain National Forest provides forested campgrounds, ideal for hiking, wildlife watching, and enjoying Vermont’s stunning fall foliage. For a more secluded experience, the Camel's Hump State Park offers backcountry camping with stunning panoramic views of the Green Mountains. Barnes Field Campground is located in the Androscoggin Ranger District, White Mountain National Forest (1 hr 38 min west of Lewiston, ME) with an elevation of 1,286 feet. There are a total of 11 campsites including 4 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 7 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 40 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Prices start at $45.00 per night. Activities include hiking trails.
