Spectacular views, level parking, and clean restrooms in one of the most beautiful and unique locations on the planet. It was a surprise and disappointment to hear a generator running well after dark, and shocking that someone thought it appropriate to blast through the main campground at 6:30 am on a ATV. It's unfortunate that all "campers" do not respect or appreciate peace and tranquility. Nevertheless, I was very glad to have been there.

Thanks to Canyonlands BCH who we assumed upgraded the horse corrals.

Beautiful scenery and the bathroom was clean and not stinky

Please put in an outhouse for the day users out by the road. Really appreciate the extra signage placed at the head of the road indicating the group site. Thanks to the people who clean the outhouses!

Wonderful spot! Just AWESOME!!!

This location is spectacular. The only reason for the 3-star review is that we were there for 2 nights with a group of 25 and there was only 1/2 of a roll of toilet paper for our entire stay.

We love this scenic spot for horse camping. There are sturdy corrals and a clean vault toilet. We enjoyed riding horse trails without impact from motorized travelers. We did not appreciate that other visitors left trash in the toilet building.

Great spot with plenty of space. The downside is a ton of people come into the campground to use the bathroom. We had six jeeps park in the camping spot to air down and use the bathroom in the morning and then again to air back up in the afternoon. Constant use of the bathroom from day trippers and even other campers in the regular campground, which has its own toilet. Don’t pick this spot if you want privacy. BLM needs bigger and better signs and a gate to reduce this.

Corrals are well built and the camp ground is well kept. Beautiful trail system right out of the area and there are many more within a quick trailer drive away. Bring your own water as the creek is very saline. We loved staying here and cannot recommend it enough.

Great for group camping.

Was removed and quiet from the rest of the campground. Great riding outside of camp. Four clean safe corrals. Easy for big rig to get in and turn around. First come first serve is only $30… but online $100? Unfortunately out of state horse people can’t risk first come first serve…

We loved staying at this site. We were celebrating my husband's birthday with friends here. The shelter with tables was very nice to have as well as the fire-pit provided. Our group were all sleeping in van's or camper trucks. Some friends used mountain bikes and others motor cross bikes to go up upper onion creek road and all enjoyed it! It is a bit of a drive to get to Moab - 30 minutes, but we all loved the beauty of this site! We placed a couple orange cones at the beginning of the drive so that it wasn't used by ATV's as a playground and to reduce the traffic of those who wanted to use the campsite bathroom.

Here is what happened to us on our camping trip at Onion Creek. We got there on Wednesday at noon and started to set up camp. People started to drive in and use the bathroom. As the weekend got closer the traffic started to be more often only almost all of the traffic was those 4-wheelers. Trucks hauling these 4-wheelers were coming into our camp and turning around and then parking on the side of the road in our camp site. One truck parked next to the bathroom and unloaded their 4-wheeler and left for the day leaving the truck right there by the bathroom. When we confronted these people, all they wanted to do was argue with us and telling us that the bathroom was for public use which is not true, it is in our campsite. We kept telling these people to read the boards you provide, but they don't seem to tell everyone to stay out of the PRIVATE Group Sites. I am requesting you send a ticket and a warning to the people who parked in our campsite for the day and have them send a payment for trespassing and using OUR site. Their License plate number is Colorado 059 YBK. I suggest that the BLM post a large sign at the entrance of both campsites A and B stating that they are PRIVATE and not for public use and also not to block or park on the road leading into these sites.

We loved the views from the campsite and the privacy by being back from the main road; , privacy looks hard to find in public campsites in that area. There are a lot of ATVS driving down Onion Creek Road. Unfortunately we were getting cars still driving down our side road, so we put up a sign that said full, no vacancy and that worked. I would suggest to BLM that they use cards or signs to show occupancy at the campsites. There is no information given to potential campers unless they look at a board with the monthly calendar; not a great system. The only other negative was a lot of cheat grass, which was a concern for the dogs, but none of our dogs got it in their ears. Some other things: next to onion creek, really short bike ride to the river with lower onion campground, and close to Fisher Towers which we hiked. Also, the recreation road next to the campground looks fun to bike. We biked up it two miles and it was gorgeous.

Park a car at the bathroom to block the road. Lots of lookie loos and 4 bys looking for parking and to use the restroom. Otherwise FABULOUS
@JulieR260 · Camped on Apr 19, 2021 at Campsite #B
The BLM should consider putting in an outhouse for the recreational users of the road who come in droves and keep them out of the campgrounds- there is plenty of space where they park.

We hauled in 3 horses and couldn't have had a better time. The corrals were well-situated and the campsite was in a little depression, making it feel private and well-insulated from traffic. The horse and hiking trails nearby are great. We didn't have any complications with people using trails incorrectly, and all of our encounters with motorized users were pleasant and thoughtful. Easy ride down to the Colorado River. This was the cleanest pit toilet I've every used!

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
