This cabin is perfect size and quiet. The wood they have was wet so the fire never warmed up the cabin. You might want to bring in dry wood or a heater The snow was on the ground so the gates were closed and we had to walk in. Plan for this in the winter.. The person helping us was nice and accommodating.

The cabin was clean. We disinfectant before hand. Trying to unplug, would have liked the host to allow people to digress, unplug, and unwind from the world. Bring may mosquito repellant. Outhouse was really dirty compared to many U.S camping sites.

Camp hosts were amazing. We forgot pillows and they provided us with some. Also the wood for the wood stove was already in the cabin and dry.

The hosts were very kind. The cabin looked great. We stayed warm and dry. We always have a great time out at Starrigavan! We usually go out there for my son's birthday in April. We had rain this time but sometimes we have woken up to snow. It is so convenient to have water from the artesian well and it is just so nice to be able to pop back into town if you need anything.

The new hosts are extremely nice! plan on bringing as much dry wood as you can, the wood available to buy isn't seasoned and you'll have a hard time with the wood stove if you dont have dry to get it started.

My family & I have stayed out here multiple times. This time wasn't so welcoming. We could only check in at 4pm, and not 1pm. Cabin was dirty, front door was broken, wouldn't open. Downstairs window was also cracked letting in cold air. The campground 8tself looked normal... but it was disappointing to see a treasured cabin in Sitka become so decrepit.... hopefully the Forest Service can be of service and actually spend that $75 daily fee and fix the door & window...Sad.

The Stargavin Cabin is amazing! It's a nice clean cabin with beds in it BUT you definetly need padding to sleep on. It's a beautiful space! So nice to be able to drive to town while camping if you forgot something! We will be back!

The fire wood was wet and way too long for the stove . And they didn’t give us much wood at all.

I want so bad to rate this a 5. The campground host (Dan?) was amazing and super kind, available, helpful. The cabin itself is always a pleasure. It's wonderful that Mosquito cove is a hop skip and a jump away, there's bird watching, a beautiful walk around the boardwalk, the artesian well and the shooting range. But the woodstove is horrible. It intermittently lets smoke billow out of the stove- enough that it's a potential health hazard for prone people. The very first time I stayed there a few years ago after they replaced it, we had to leave after getting the fire started and give away our reservation because it was sooo smoky that it was an actual health hazard. It still smells like a smokehouse; stung my eyes, sinuses, flared the asthma as soon as we entered the cabin. We had to leave the windows open so that the kids weren't laying in smoke upstairs. One of the kids that we brought had to go home to get his inhaler that he hasn't had to use in a few years. We did tell the campground host, and in the very early morning hours did accidentally have the flue mostly closed so that was our fault, and the host said that he's never seen the problem, but the problem very much exists, and has since the stove was replaced. Obviously it wasn't so bad that we had to leave like last time, but I doubt we're the only ones that feel this way and would like to see the problem remedied for future visits. I bet that the town's people would happily donate money toward a new and improved stove so that it didn't cost the state anything. Lastly, we heard big foot :D

The cabin is wonderful- secluded and right by the water. The host was very helpful getting our stuff back the icy road. Will definitely do this more often!

Cabin was a cozy and wonderful place to enjoy the weekend after Christmas. Park service was extremely helpful ensuring we had plenty of firewood and were comfortable. Already looking forward to our next stay!

Had a fun time. It would be nice if the cabin locked from the inside. So at night we wanted to lock the door.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
