Many campsites have a nice view of the reservoir.Logging activity on nearby privated land can be loud and logging trucks frequent the road leading to the reservoir. The size of the trucks and their speed creates hazardous condition on the narrow Forest Service road.Unfortunately the potable water system is unreliable and it appears restrooms are often closed due to water system failures. Restroom replaced by portables that less than optimal.You pay the same nightly price regardless of the status of the potable water system. Not entirely fair treatment.

Making the reservation was so easy and convenient. We love the campground. It was beautiful and well kept.

Nice place, quiet and camping spots were large. Other guests were polite and campground was very peaceful. Water went out day before we arrived so we had porta potties and no water source, which is why Im giving it 4 stars vs 5.

I have been going to the East Meadows campground for over twenty years. The water has been off numerous times during those years and portable toilets were always brought in. We knew the water was going to be off and were prepared for it. The camp host was great and could do nothing about the lack of toilets. There was one full, stinky vault toilet for the entire campground to use for the six days during my stay. The Forest service cleaning crew did a horrible job of cleaning and would not contact their supervisor even when I offered use of my satellite phone. I contacted the Forest service in Sierra City on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to make the aware of the situation. I believe I spoke with a person named Scott who sounded concerned but said his boss was on vacation. I even called the Health department as people were lined up to use the one available bathroom. Unbelievable on this day and age that nothing was done and campers were literally using the woods to go relive themselves as the smell was intolerable in the one bathroom. Really as sad situation especially when the Forest service was well aware of the problem and did nothing until portable toilets were finally delivered on Saturday the the 10th of August, They let over 70 people use one disgusting tpi let for at least the six days I was there. No excuse for the way we were treated . Of course I dont expect any reimbursement From an agency as irresponsible as the local Forest service.

Nice lake and campground with a lot of shade. Unfortunately, we got informed of a water outage in effect for the whole campground a day before our reservation. Had to share one vault toilet with the other campers infested with flies and wasps. Then, first day of camping, all campfires got forbidden... Please keep that in mind if you plan your visit in August. And no phone services unless you drive 45 min towards Truckee, so you will never get their emails to inform you about fire restrictions.

Stayed here in late July! It was a very beautiful campground, nicely shaded too with a nice view of the reservoir. We were conveniently next to the bathroom. Fairly tidy. Running water and no cell service. No camp host was there during our stay. I would stay here again (:

It was a great spot. A short walk to the lake. Beautiful views and fun trails to hike. It would be nice if the trash would've been pi ked up after the 4th holiday as they were full and overflowing by the 7th. The bathrooms could've used more toilet paper as there was usually none even tho it was a pretty empty site after Sunday. Def recommend and will come back again.

Really great camp host, very nice. She even drove by shortly after my arrival and had firewood in her cart. I'm used to having to drive back to where the host is to get my wood, but it was really nice that I could just purchase it off her cart and carry it to the camp fire site. Sites are close together, but neighboring campers were quiet, so it made it pleasant.

Fairly large sites with fire rings and picnic tables. Some of the sites do back up against each other but we were camping with friends so it wasn't a problem. Flush and vault toilets but unfortunately no showers. Right next to the reservoir for water sports.

Very clean campground with paved sites with a beautiful lake. Nice that they have flush toilets in some of the bathrooms. Campground hosts take good care of the campground.

This is a beautiful campground and lake. We especially like the flush toilets and how clean and tidy it is. It is also close the the Pacific Crest Trail for great hiking opportunities.

I've been coming to this campground since I was a kid, and we had a great time. The weather was perfect. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The water was working and bathrooms were fully functioning. We can't wait to plan our trip for next summer.

The toilets were not working the entire time we were there and not posted anywhere and just got water a few days before our arrival. Camp hosts were lovely and very nice people and not their fault and most embarrassed by the state of affairs. Nothing posted by NID at all so drove up to other campgrounds all closed and again nothing posted anywhere on boards that would have saved an hour drive. NIDs responsibility and every NID people we spoke to knew nothing and made attempt to alert campers of any and all closures. There was zero wood available and hosts said had been awhile since had any and no idea when they would. Won’t go back sadly!

The campground opened late, due to Winter storm damage, which is understandable. However, in the extra time that they took to open, the Forest Service did a poor job of getting it ready. We had to modify our reservation because of the late opening, so imagine our surprise when the flush toilet bathrooms were not open! In fact, there was only a SINGLE pit toilet available to the entire campground. To be fair, a Ranger did come by while we were there to try to turn on the water to the flush toilets, but there was a big leak that prevented her from leaving them operating. In addition, the Dump Station associated with the campground was locked up, and the camp hosts did not know when it would be available. All in all, the experience could have been better.

We reserved campsites to find out the water was shut off, only one restroom was open for the whole complex, no camp host to even speak with, and to top it off our planned week camping at that campground(according to the website) was on FF or first come first served basis! But, NID or Nevada Irrigation District, posted on a white piece of paper that the gates were being closed on Monday October 10, 2022 at 12 noon! I find this disappointing that no more than 1/4 mile away is Pass Creek campground with full services except a camp host. I am perplexed at the misinformation given to campers and the frustration felt by all campers that we encountered. I would hope that I would get a response personally back on this review, but I am not holding my breath.

Beautiful campground but there was no camp host so spaces were unkept, pine needles, dirt and rocks scattered throughout out space. Most spaces are pretty tight for an RV so knowing the larger spaces is a must. Received an email 2 days ahead of our trip saying water would be off so we anticipated such but should've received some sort of discount as all bathrooms were out of commission. Felt bad for the hunters and tent campers, especially the ones who told be they called the local ranger station and were told that the bathrooms were operational. Had to give them xtra water and TP. We're quasi local and been here many times before and love the area and campground.

The water was shut down to the camp site, so you had to bring your own. Due to the water being shut off, the bathrooms were locked with no access to a toilet. They did not provide portable bathrooms either. There was no camp host to regulate other campers. Pass creek camp ground (next door) had available running water, bathrooms and a camp host.

Beautiful camping area with lots of trails nearby, including access to Pacific Crest Trail. This is a clean, quiet, and secluded place. secure your food in the food lockers in each campground. Bring scent-proof baggies for your food to avoid bear encounters. Lovely place, wish I could have stayed longer. Mosquito Fire (2022) brought smoky air in the evenings, clearing in the daytime. Please respect the place, pick up after yourselves, and observe any fire restrictions.

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
