Enjoyed our stay. Clean and easy to back in. Close to lake for swimming

This is a very nice campground. I took the grandkids and our spot was great. Lots of grass and privacy, and also easily accessible to bathrooms and showers. The beach is a short walk or drive away. We drove down to the end by the lighthouse and spent some really fun time on the beach. It was windy, but still a blast that day. The lighthouse docents were also really friendly. Great stay overall.

Nice campground. Stayed 2 nights. Clean and quiet. Close to Shasta Caverns, if you haven't seen, worth the time.

We were pleasantly surprised that there was water and flushing toilets available.... You need to update the website!!!! We just used the site as a break from our drive from Santa Cruz to Eugene Oregon. It's nothing extra special and you can hear the highway, but overall it was very clean and, as I said, there is water!!!

My large red plastic gas can with 25% fuel was stolen by somebody driving in or out my first morning!!

Campground was very neat and quiet. But the host had the bathrooms locked, so NO flush toilets as promised. Smelly pit toilets only.

I love the peace, quiet and privacy of this campground, as well as the proximity to the lake! However, the bathrooms are out of order and the water spigots are non-potable, contrary to what the website states. The lack of flushing toilets and bathroom sinks to wash up could be ignored, but in my opinion, it is very important that the website is updated to reflect the non-potable water, so guests know that we need to bring all our own drinking and washing water, especially in this hot summer weather.

We have camped at Bailey Cove many times in the past. Shasta Lake is absolutely beautiful and so full this year. We had a great time on the actual lake. The campground, however, was a horrible experience this trip. There are signs that there is no potable water, all of the bathrooms are closed at the campground and boat launch. They brought in a few port-o-potties that in 100 plus temps- smell horrendous when they are only changed once a week. Some of the BBQ hinges were broken and our bear boxes didn’t close or latch properly. We kept our food in our car since the ants were out of control and cleaned up right after each meal. We hope Bailey Cove gets some much needed money put back into it.

The location is near I-5, consequently there is freeway noise. Not the right place if you are looking for a quiet campground. The permanent restroom facilities are all closed. So there are porta-potties instead. It’s convenient off the freeway and next to a boat ramp on Lake Shasta. We probably would not stay there again.
@AnneC8205723 · Camped on Jun 19, 2023 at Campsite #7
There were no amenities, firewood, or potable water. Only porta potties. It was spacious, gorgeous and quiet at night, though noisy children road through on bikes until dark. There was loud road noise from 101. The lake was beautiful and there were great trails around it. It was expensive for having no amentities.

We had the best time. Our only issue was that the water was bad. They had signs up that testing failed but still giving it a 5 stars as I’m sure it’s temporarily. Campsite 7 is by far the best out of all of them. Very secluded and private and HUGE! The water was amazing and it was so peaceful. Yes you can hear the road but not from the water and at night it calms down. The bit of road noise actually made me feel safe from the bears. Lol

No water and only portaloos. Noise from the road. Pretty sites though and great for visiting the nearby caves. Beautiful lake.

Kinda plain campground. Next to a highway so can hear trucks. Might be good if you're going to use Shasta Lake

We stayed on S # 7, great site, loved the space and the privacy, some noise at night from really close freeway, no big deal. Water level in lake really low...we knew that, but we were expecting flush toilets and drinking water as ADVERTISED, there were porta potties though. We weren’t warned about the water or the bathrooms/showers wouldn’t be open, WOULD someone please update the campsite info with the most relevant and latest info??? That is if you care about people keeping on coming here.

I was unable to go because of the evacuations and fires. I have requested a reimbursement for my reservation and have yet to receive a response.

We were here during a heat wave so perhaps not an objective view of this site. Hosts were nice. But so hot and NO access to water!! Not advised to book this site in summer. We will never return here. End of July heat wave and we were shocked that at 7pm at night the temp was 104 degrees! We pulled in to check out the site anyway. Of course we knew no electricity at the site, though we have an AC in the camper we didn't anticipate needing it nor did we need it anywhere else in No Cal or Oregon. We were trying to decide if we should stay so we asked about water access. We were told it was 10 minutes by car down a very bumpy rough road and it was mostly muddy and not much water down there. :( We booked this site hoping there was water access so be forewarned that when the lake is low there is really NO water access here and it's really, really hot here in summer.

This was a trash campsite. I can not believe that you actual still make reservations for this sh*t hole of a place. As a solo female camper I was actually afraid to stay here, it was something out of a horror film. If I could give it no stars I would. 0/10 do better!!

Pretty good but we weren’t warned the bathrooms wouldn’t be open? Porta potties we’re placed practically in an other groups campground and didn’t seem to have been emptied recently Otherwise quite good! It’s a nice spot, ate some blackberries

The campsite was clean and easily accessible, but it was a bit noisy because it was close to the highway. I saw it was close, but didn't think about road noise. The lake was dry this time of year. The water was not available at the sites due to testing and high chlorine levels. The bathrooms were unavailable too, but portable restrooms were available. Bring mosquito repellent.

Overall we had a lovely stay. However, the website needs to be more clear about the status of amenities at each campground. We stayed at this site because it was closer to Redding than some of the larger more popular sites up the road. The bathrooms were locked and unusable and porta pottys (they were clean) were included instead. This was fine because it sort of made for a more authentic camping experience. The major downside is that there is NO potable water on site at all. There are two well pumps that are covered with plastic bags that say DO NOT USE due to significant levels of chlorine in the water. With no showers, bathroom or water on site, we had no way to even fill up a portable hanging shower and had to shower at the Y! The campground host said the water hasn't been usable for 5 years!!! We luckily were able to get a discount on the site, but would be very unhappy to have to pay full price. Other than the water issue the site is nice, small and quite (mostly...we had one issue on Friday night where a large group had a party until 1 am even though there is a max # of people allowed at each site and quiet hours start at 10. People will be disrespectful wherever you go though).

The camp ground itself was nice but don’t try to use your steaks when setting up tent because the ground is too hard to get any in. We camped at Bailey maybe 2 weeks ago now and we’re surprised in the morning when we walked to the lake only to discover it was completely dried out! That was a bit disappointing

Not sure who should be responsible, but when we arrived at our campsite close to 10pm, there was a "squatter" all set up there. We were able to convince him that he needed to move, but it took quite a while and he left an awful mess behind.

We track all the sites so you don't have to.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
